Nice to see the original pro mods and not 60 cookie cutter Camaro's. Money killed this class just to get a bigger dick trophy. And for people commenting on 1/8 mile. It saves a lot of engine parts and clean up time due to engine failures.

At 6:54 that was an A fuel front engine dragster lined up against that fuel altered on nitro

My Dad took my brother and me to the 1969 AHRA Winternationals at Beeline Dragway in Mesa AZ, my very first drag race, when I saw/heard/smelt/felt my first pair of AA/FD's rocket down the track I was hooked for life! (Don Prudhomme was top eliminator at that race by the way.) Thanks so much Fast Racing and Hot Rods for shooting these videos from the spectator's point of view, just awesome!

Love watching these cars ! And I'd love to have been a piston salesman at that race - with only a couple of exceptions I think every car smoked all 8 of them at the stripe.

Famoso is my home track. learned how to build engines from a 400 small block i got from the swap meet off an old hot rodder for $200 when i was like 12. The old man who got me into racing and showed me everything i know, was a legend. He knew EVERYONE and everything. Could fix anything, build anything, and was one hell of a father and friend. I choke up every time i get into staging at famoso, ive raced all over the country and nothing gets my blood pumping like being at home. its got a lot of history for me and my family. as much as i love my modern 7 second street cars theres nothing cooler than altered cars on alochol.

Went to the Altered Nationals at Tucson Dragway as a kid many times with my dad (70's-80's) - it was awesome - MOB vs Nanook!! so many great cars... was a great time to be alive

Its awesome but my favorites are the period correct cars,something about the other ones that turn me off.

Those were the days my friend! Irwindale Raceway back in the 70's was where you could find me and my friends almost every week! Good times. AA fueled altereds were the best!

Yes the longer wheel base has a completely different weight transfer a bit more consistent you could say ! I prefer the freaking serious "short wheelbase" monsters, the cars that have major driver respect !

The SHEEPHERDER is an Arizona altered. The late JOHN ALEMAN actually owned a bunch of sheep. I remember it from the 1970's in WILLIAMS, AZ. when it had a Ford SOHC and Henry Harrison was driving it

Just happened on this video and saw the Burkholder Brothers AA/FA. The brothers were from Sacramento, CA and I watched them run many times at Sacramento Raceway more than a few years back. I don't know what the ownership of this car is now, but the brothers page on the Internet says they sold it in the early seventies.
