Well you really need to get a flow hood to practice sterilize procedures in front of you will have better results any kind of funji will get contamination in doors very fast if u are not using proper steril procedures and try taking core samples from them and put it to agar so u know if u have a viable sample or not it will save u a ton of heart ach the hell with the prints unless it's your only option and consider working from agar to a lc then to your sub all in front of a flow hood

Great fun - been mushroom hunting since I was pretty young. Love Snowbank mushrooms better than Morels. Here on the west side of the mountains, have a lot of Chanterelle locations - I don't think that anyone has had success in cultivating them - really need a particular environment, apparently. Cheers from Seattle!

I never knew it was so difficult to grow morels. I feel guilty for just buying them off the shelves and enjoying them so much, all the while taking the cultivation of it for granted. Hope you've gotten further with your experiment.

Did you give your mycelium a cool down period. Like it's natural cycle all zones differ by strain you can continue to flush indoors after a cool down period. Morel mycelium basically need to starve to activate wake up and start the fruiting 160 hours in the freezer pull it out let it fruit. Remember zone specific strains Have adapted to region MN has an adapted to harsh winters Georgia morals can't live in MN it's all about the cool down. And ash or Aspen roots here in MN we find them in the Ash and the Aspen low lands

I've hunted/researched Morels for 60 years. Anytime someone gets a patent, they have to reveal all of their findings so that it cannot be legally replicated. Read Gary's patent in it's entirety to Learn his "secrets." Read Stewart Miller's patent. He has a patent on growing morels through the process of mutualism. Growing Morels in a bed of scrap debris is more of an example of parasitism. The reason your spore prints were greater after your Morel's dried is because the spores are held in tiny sacs inside the outer structure of the fungus cap. The outer structure of the sacs dried and since the spores are covered with tiny spikes, they were able to break out as individual spores.

Dang u planted that bed 2 days after my birthday. I know it’s hot here in august that’s when the outdoor mushrooms 🍄 fruit here in SC. I just inoculated my first 2 jars with yellow Morel a week ago. Just checked on them tonight and they both have mycelium starting. Any advice would be very beneficial and very very grateful and much appreciated. Thank you in advance. I’m very dedicated into fruiting these yellow morels indoors 😊

Across Iowa this spring we have found morels in peoples yards. Spread all around in the open. Not clustered together nor were they close to woods. I harvested 24 from my front yard. Apparently the 2019 derecho had spread them all over. I planted several of the small ones in a moist shaded area hoping maybe next year they will return. Very strange the behavior of these little things

I have a suspicion, that based on the tree species, that Morels favor in the West, that it is the nitrogen fixing bacteria that are symbiotic to the roots of those trees, that triggers the morels fruiting. It would make sense that the morels are sensitive to bacteria and the presence of specific ones trigger that. It would also explain that company's success with moss, as it is an easily incubated medium to introduce that system, without the presence of giant trees. Cheers folks.

It’s my understanding the mycelium has to be “stressed” to initiate fruit. I’ve never found a good description of stress, but it seems to be the missing ingredient in a lot of hopefuls.

Disturbed. They fruit readily on logging trails, dozed in burn breaks and across the burnt forest floors here in the west. In Ohio, it was totally different.
