Welcome to the Paradidomi Channel. My name is Jerry, and I will be your guide to an unfiltered and heavily contextualized approach to studying the Holy Bible.
In each episode, we will do our best to enter into the world of the biblical authors; and then discover and discuss some of the Godly principals that transcend time, space, and culture, and are relevant for our lives today. The Word of God for the people of God-yesterday, today, and forever.
"For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received-that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3)

What Is The Difference Between Being "Nice" And Being "Kind?"
In this video, I tackle the question, "What is the difference between being "nice" and being "kind?" Of course, niceness and kindness are defined according to the world and contrasted with biblical standards. It is far better to be kind than it is to be nice! If you want to know why, click on in!

"Isn't It Arrogant To Suggest That Jesus Is The Only Way?"

In this video, we discuss John 14:6: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." Indeed, a highly controversial statement, but is it arrogant or just good news?

A very good description!
Thank you! Blessings!
Yes and God answers those prayers. We can let go and let God. God is just and soveriegn❤

No wonder I got exhausted. I mixed needs and wants. Cause God seems to be so wonderfully loving to me. I thought I could meet both needs and wants, but ran out of energy.🙁 Thanks for the info. It will help me in future.
You're most welcome! I'm glad the information will be of help to you--moving forward.
I used agape love on a few( unsaved) people in my building. They did not comprehend it. Abused me over and over....having the double heart. Very destructive - addicts. I forgive them, but I really need to avoid them, now.
Praying for others is a great way to be kind! Thank you for sharing! Blessings!
One of your best lessons. Very good Biblical illustrations. This is another lesson that has applicability to my life every day.
Thank you David!
AMAN!
Thanks for watching Uncle Russell! Preparing for a multi-episode study on Romans 8!
Once saved always saved 😊
Only way to get that love salvation must be received from Jesus Christ divine love 😊
❤
Fuck my enemies! And Jesus never said anything. A bunch of men in 1604 said he said something. Do you really enjoy being that fucking delusional or does the comfort you receive from your obvious mental shortcomings give you comfort in your ignorance? I guess ignorance is bliss, huh?
Thank you again, Jerry! Good to be reminded...
Thank you for watching Uncle Russell! Merry Christmas!
One of your best yet! I appreciate the clear distinction between the types of love.
Thanks for listening
Romans9:13
Thanks for clarifying the use of the word Fear. I need to be more diligent in my reading to better understand the context behind the passages.
Thanks for taking part in the discussion, David. I'm glad it was helpful! Blessings!
He did not say he's the "only" way. He said I am the way, the truth and the life.
John 14:6 Jesus said to Him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
@@theparadidomichannel5552 yes, he did not say “the only way”
I'm sorry, I missed your response. You seem to have missed the point of Jesus' illustration. There is only one way into the sheep pen, and that is through the shepherd who stands in "the way." The word way is proceeded by the article "the," meaning the only way is "The Way," which is Jesus himself. ἐγώ εἰμι ἡ ὁδὸς. Moreover, this is just Jesus doubling down on his statement from a few chapters earlier. "I am THE resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." Hence, Jesus is the necessary and sufficient means by which a person can be saved. Blessings!

(Or) Do I only adore this 1 UA-camR? 😂 because (DESIRE) is not (WISDOM OF WORDS / DEEDS) nor (FEELINGS) !!! 😂That is (WISDOM) SAYING; what I do/work is not from MYSELF but from HE (DESIRE) who sent/ordered/decided ME (WISDOM) 😂 HE (DESIRE) is greater than ME (WISDOM) ☕ example; (DESIRE) I , PEPSI ! , so (WISDOM) I , went to the shop, not to the workshop, and said; Is there PEPSI COLA? , I want to buy 3 cans of PEPSI! 💓,,,let US make humans in OUR IMAGE according to OUR APPEARANCE and,,, 💓,,,and I will put enmity between you and this woman and between your descendants and her descendants. HE will bruise your head and you will bruise HIS heel... ( ∞ + ∞ + ∞ = ∞ )
Yes, that would indeed be arrogant if that statement was coming from anyone else other than JESUS HIMSELF. BUT, since He is Omnipotent and All-knowing and He Himself said that NO ONE CAN COME TO THE FATHER, BUT THROUGH HIM(JESUS), that pretty much SETTLES the issue. His word is FINAL.
Not for a Believe.
I'd rather have it exclusive and well defined than an arbitrary obscured way where there is absolutely no assurance whatsoever whether we find favor with the Most High God Almighty.
I found the illustrations to be extremely helpful. Understanding a Shepherd’s role and seeing the gate makes perfect sense!
That all sounds fine and good, but foundational to your beliefs is there were people who wrote down these beliefs in your Bible. Before you have faith in the Bible, you first have to have faith these scribes CAN and HAS communicated with a god. What exactly makes you so sure this communication is even possible let alone true? Because the thing is, if you spent 2 minutes thinking about it- why wouldn’t a god write his own Bible himself? Why the multiple books, why the multiple scribes, why the multiple time frames, why aren’t people continuing to write down gods word today? The truth is you do not have any reliable source that anything written in the Bible is true let alone this communication between god and scribes. What’s more important, the fairytale or the truth?
Thank you @horseshoed5221 for taking part in the discussion! You’ve made some interesting comments and asked some excellent questions. >> foundational to your beliefs is there were people who wrote down these beliefs in your Bible. Foundational to my beliefs is a person not a book or those people God chose to inspire to write His story. The person of God-in-Christ is the bedrock for my worldview. Jesus is the reason I believe the Bible is true in the first place. After all, there is some kind of symbiotic relationship between the written Word, the spoken Word, and the Word Incarnate. >> Before you have faith in the Bible, you first have to have faith these scribes CAN and HAS communicated with a god. Again, I don’t have “faith” in the Bible, I have “faith” in Christ! Therefore, I believe His Word is true and I am drawn to it. And they’re not “scribes” who communicated with God but inspired authors God chose to reveal Himself to the world. (See the next part.) >> What exactly makes you so sure this communication is even possible let alone true? I think your insight here is thoughtful. Many Christians don’t consider the great lengths that an Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent God must take just to communicate with His people. But if I believe the Bible is true (and I do), then I know from it that YHWH is anti-chaos, super organized, and He has plans and purposes, not only for the universe, but for His human creatures as well. God created human beings in His image because He wanted a human family. Relationship requires communication, and if a Creator God is assumed then it isn’t a stretch to believe that a God with those kinds of goals couldn’t create a means by which He could communicate with people. Of course, the simple answer to your question, What exactly makes you so sure this communication is even possible let alone true, is Jesus. The full revelation of God Himself, as well as the mechanism that solidifies all His plans and purposes, is made manifest when God Himself enters human history and becomes a man in the person of Jesus of Nazareth. >> Because the thing is, if you spent 2 minutes thinking about it- why wouldn’t a god write his own Bible himself? He did. I think you might have different ideas about inspiration and transmission than what the Bible claims. >> Why the multiple books, why the multiple scribes, why the multiple time frames Because this is the way God chose to do it! Multiple books and multiple God-inspired authors equal multiple attestations. The Bible is the record of YHWH interacting with His people in human history. It reveals God’s power, character, and nature, as well as unveiling His plans and purposes. As the late New Testament professor Gordon Fee stated, God “chose to speak his eternal truths within the particular circumstances and events of human history. This also is what gives us hope. Precisely because God chose to speak in the context of real human history, we may take courage that these same words will speak again and again in our own ‘real’ history, as they have throughout the history of the church.” >> why aren’t people continuing to write down gods word today? The Old Testament closes with a climax of expectation of the Messiah, and the New Testament presents the Messiah, His teachings, and instructions for what His followers are to do until the end of the age. Of course, there is much more to this. Blessings!
@@theparadidomichannel5552 I appreciate the response, I do, the whole god concept is intriguing to me. People live their lives based on this foundation of belief and faith. They raise their kids on this belief and faith. People even base their politics on these beliefs and faiths. People start their own denominations upon their interpretations. Families and friends have been brought together and torn apart with these beliefs and faiths. I say all this because what is printed in a Bible or any religious text has huge implications. The Bible again, was written by men. Men that CLAIM they spoke for god. You say the proof for this claim is contained in the Bible itself. I can take any book and I can claim what’s in that book is true and use the contents of that book to justify my belief. Is my actions a pathway to truth? No. You would call me crazy. We don’t believe every book is true for good reasons. Without using the Bible, the Bible’s contents, what makes you believe it’s possible for a person to communicate with a god? What makes you believe anyone has ever heard anything from a god? I’m not implying anything when asking this, but again I will remind you the importance of these questions and how many people are affected. This is the reason this question is foundational. If you have good reasons to believe, have faith then you have knowledge, not faith or a belief. So therefore when someone of (knowledge) is introduced to something like the power of crystals or some astrology predictions- the people have a way to differentiate between whats real and whats not real. If you care about people, be honest, as honest as you possibly can.
Hello @horseshoed5221! In general, human beings live their lives, raise their families, follow particular political ideologies, start their own groups, and experience failed relationships based on-or because of-all sorts of different world views. This doesn’t make the Bible untrue; it just makes what the Bible says about the nature of humanity true-we’re broken. You seem to be saying that people can have beliefs that aren’t necessarily true. I concur! But this doesn’t mean that all beliefs are untrue. Moreover, just because the dominant secular culture doesn’t like specific claims that the Bible makes or that those claims have “huge implications,” this doesn’t make the Bible untrue either. Of course, what the Bible says has had “huge implications” for centuries-it’s the Word of God! Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith’s door, And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime; Then, looking in, I saw upon the floor, Old hammers, worn with beating years of time. “How many anvils have you had,” said I, “To wear and batter all these hammers so?” “Just one” said he, and then, with twinkling eye, “The anvil wears the hammers out you know.” And so, thought I the anvil of God’s Word, For ages sceptic blows have beat upon; Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard, The anvil is unharmed - the hammers gone! ~ John Clifford >> The Bible again, was written by men. This is your belief, and of course, you are welcome to your belief and I respect your right to believe as you do. However, I do notice that you don’t exactly elaborate on this belief. In fact, you present it as if something new has been found out, and it is the across-the-board consensus view. For centuries, and today, people have viewed the Bible in light of the power, nature, and character of the Creator God, what He is doing in human history, and how He chooses to do it. Therefore, Christians believe the Bible is the Word of God, in-breathed to particular servants of His choosing so that people can know Who God is and who they are destined to be. >> Men that CLAIM they spoke for god. You say the proof for this claim is contained in the Bible itself. Nope! I didn’t say that. “We don’t believe in Christ because we believe in the Bible, but we believe in the Bible because we believe in Christ.” >> I can take any book and I can claim what’s in that book is true and use the contents of that book to justify my belief. Is my actions a pathway to truth? No. You would call me crazy. We don’t believe every book is true for good reasons. Yes, you can, and many do. However, this isn’t a good argument to prove that the Bible itself is untrue, unreliable or that the biblical authors were unethical. What you are saying is that you yourself can take the content from any book and use it in a self-serving manner. Thus, in the conclusion of your statement you assume that everyone is guilty of such behavior and intentions. No, we don’t believe every book is true, but we certainly don’t assume every book is untrue because of such arguments. >> Without using the Bible, the Bible’s contents, what makes you believe it’s possible for a person to communicate with a god? What makes you believe anyone has ever heard anything from a god? I’m not implying anything when asking this, but again I will remind you the importance of these questions and how many people are affected. Oh, I see! You want your cake and eat it too! :) If a plumber comes to your house to fix your leaky pipes, do you tell them they can’t use their pipe wrench? Or, if you need to remove a tree from your yard, do you tell the arborist they can’t use their saw? The Bible is the major tool that God uses to communicate with people. You might not believe this, but I do. (All this was said in jest.) Nevertheless, here we go! Science, history, mathematics, archeology, the historicity of Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus’ attitude towards Scripture, the Holy Spirit, prayer, and personal experience. From here, @horseshoed5221, I’m going to practice not having the last word. For much better answers to your questions, seek the following on UA-cam. @@theparadidomichannel5552 thank you. You won’t stop using the Bible to prove the Bible. Bible says people communicated with a god. Wrote these things down. And you take this to be true. No questions asked. Sure, you believe in Christ but it still does not answer the question that you keep on ducking. How is it possible for a person to communicate with a god, to write a Bible? Ignore this but the truth will set you free. It don’t matter how many people believe in the Bible, why they believe, indoctrinations, or the stories themselves within the Bible. It also has nothing to do with confirming some stories of the Bible related to people in certain ways. The question remains the same question. How do you know those who wrote the Bible were in fact inspired by or directly communicated by a god? How would you even begin to confirm this- you yourself even mentioned that men were broken. I’m truly asking. I’m not implying anything or have an agenda of any kind. What makes you (personally) sure these Bible words are in fact from a god? Just answer the one question please. How do you know? Forgive me, but you are rambling on- I do appreciate the responses but let’s keep it short and sweet. How do you know these Bible words did come from a god? Let me give you an example of answering this simple question with a simple answer. 1. God told me these Bible words were true 2. There is a way to speak to god- this method was used to write the Bible. 3. I simply have faith the Bible is true. Just use your own words why you KNOW the men who wrote the Bible were in fact somehow communicated from a god. And thank you sir
@@theparadidomichannel5552 all I need to know is why you think it’s reasonable to believe people were communicated by a god to write the Bible?

I’m sorry boss, the title is “How old is the Earth?” At 4 minutes I started fast forwarding. Did you actually answer the question or have I been click-baited?
Hi @cynicalsayonara7169 ! I'm not even sure what "click-baited means," but I can assure you I'm just not that clever. It's hard to get a complete thought on a thumbnail. My intention in this video was to answer my viewers questions, which revolved around the Science vs. the Bible (or religion, or God) debate. Anyway, looking here at the transcript from the video, in the second paragraph I answer the question: 4.5 billion years, while someone who watched the video said, "4.57 billion years." It is not a highly charged topic. The Earth is old and Genesis is wrong on many things. None of Genesis fits reality. IF a god had anything to do with Genesis it allowed utter nonsense to be in it. I sure would not consult a book that supports slavery for morals either. Genesis is the prologue and its is wrong to a very sill degree. It was not a critique either. Jehovah is imaginary. Sorry. It was written by men.
Thank you for taking part in the discussion @EthelredHardrede-nz8yv . You have made several short general statements--I wish you would have made just one and then elaborated on it. Nevertheless, you are welcome to comment freely on my Channel. I will only comment on the slavery remark. No where in the Bible does God condone or support slavery. It just so happens that much of the Bible is history; therefore, since much of the Bible is a record of God interacting with human beings--in history--there is slavery in the Bible. We wouldn't suggest that the New York Times supported slavery for simply covering a story about slavery in the Sudan! Blessings!

The cognitive dissonance in humanity is so extreme. I would not call you a liar. I would say ignorant. You believe fantasy over reality. The Bible is full on mono-myth, worshiped by Christians as an idol. But this video is just regurgitating lies that one is incapable of seeing as a lie. Many carry the metaphorical Ark. Few see inside. Do you see the templates? If not, you don't know the Bible.
Thank you, David for your perspective!
These lessons really opened my eyes to what was going on in the book of Jonah. While Jonah was focusing on God having mercy on the people of Nineveh, God was focusing on saving Jonah. While Jonah was selfishly concerned for himself God was concerned about Jonah’s heart.
Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. The whole council of God from repentance to obedience to relationship standards to the Spirit to the fruit to the gifts and everything in between. Not choosing one specialty area to reduce persecution but the whole thing so men could see a picture of the real Jesus Christ and choose to accept or reject Him.
Great! Thank you for sharing!

I like the idea of focusing on the disciples question of who then can be saved. If we focus on the limited scope of just the rich, we could end up missing the point by trying to define “rich”. Essentially, we must trust God alone. “Rich” is relative.
Excellent point, David! Thank you!
Very interesting. I never considered the commandments Jesus left out in his conversation with the rich young man.

This lesson helped me realize that God used Jonah for His own purposes even while Jonah was disobedient. The lives of these sailors may have been changed forever!
Thank you for adding value to the discussion, David! I think you are right on both accounts. Despite Jonah rejecting his vocation God is determined to use him to reveal Himself to the nations! I also believe the sailor’s experience changed their lives forever, and I think God was counting on it! Blessings!
This is such pathetic rationalization and and complete ignoring of the context. #1. Why is god always "using people" to accomplish things on earth? It's almost as if god has no actual tangible power (or maybe doesnt exist?) #2. Why do so many of the people god chooses to do his will, decide to argue with him or disobey him? Like the story of the rebeliious angels, it seems that even when entities KNOW, WITHOUT A DOUBT that god is real, is the only god in existence and is all-powerful....they still have the ability and desire to disconnect from his guidance. That seems extremely hard to believe. It's like knowing that gravity is unconquerable but still jumping off a sky scrapper.... Why would anyone commit suicide "so to speak"? #3. Why does it seem like god genuinely doesn't know the future? If he is omnoscient as the bible says, why would he do things which are destined to fail?
Hi Brian! Thank you for taking the time to take part in the discussion! Your questions are, indeed, excellent questions. Let me briefly address each one. #1 “Whynis god always "using people" to accomplish things on earth?” Well, first off, in the first line of your email (This is such pathetic rationalization and and complete ignoring of the context), you accused me of ignoring the context-so I don’t want to do that here. Jonah, and the O.T. in general, is a sophisticated critique of all the other ancient Near East religions. In those religions, the gods were just juiced-up versions of human beings. They didn’t like human beings much, and yet were very needy and relied on human beings for things, such as food. Therefore, it goes without saying that the gods of Israel’s neighbors weren’t concerned about the well-being of people; they had no compassion for their plight, nor were they interested in their “growth potential.” In addition, although it could be argued that the gods of the ancient Near East were more benevolent than human beings, it could also be said that they were more ruthless and evil too. Hence, people feared them because they were unpredictable and easily offended, and thus, could inflict disaster upon people at the drop of a hat. In sharp contrast, YHWH is a cosmic God. He needs nothing from humanity, yet unlike the other gods in Jonah’s day, He loves and cares for people. Thus, the LORD interacts with people like Jonah and looks beyond their broken nature because, as creator, He is aware of each person’s full potential, and it is His deepest desire that they should all achieve it. Therefore, God is not “using people,” but instead, He is working with them. God is our closest family member, and as our Father, He is teaching us how to live-how to really live! Brian, I’m unsure of your family background, so the following question is rhetorical. Hasn’t your father and/or mother ever taught you something utilizing methods you didn’t understand at the time but do now? Of course, I have much more to say about the subject, but let’s leave it there for now and go on to the next question. #2. “Why do so many people wjo god chooses to do his will decide to argue with him or disobey him?” Part of the answer to this question, Brian, is given in what I said about #1. It’s also worth pointing out that, unlike the other gods of the ancient Near East, arguing or disobeying YHWH didn’t result in the handing down of a death sentence. That’s one of the points of Jonah’s book! Jonah 4:2 . . . That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that You are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster. Jonah’s insight here would have resounded well with his first audience. Furthermore, according to the cosmology of the O.T. (briefly), God created human beings simply because He wanted a human family. By definition, a family is a group of people who love each other and live in a relationship with one another. In addition, God created humans in His image, and as God’s image bearers, we have some of the attributes of God built into us (though to a lesser degree). One of those attributes is freedom. We can freely choose to love and obey God, or we can choose to ignore Him. We don’t have to have God if we don’t want Him! And I would say, if a person doesn't want God now, then they probably wouldn't want Him for eternity either. #3. Why doesn't seem like god genuinely doesn't know the future? If he is omnoscient as the bible says, why would he do things which are destined to fail? Once more, Brian, part of the answer to this question lies in my answers for #1 and #2! Of course, the more profound question is, “What does God’s omniscience mean?” That is, what does it mean for God "to know?" Well, I suggest the answers are much deeper than comparing God's knowledge with that of a fortuneteller or seer, and the concept of someone gazing into a crystal ball isn't gonna help us either. Let me just say here that the LORD’s omniscience doesn’t necessarily determine the outcome of any given situation. See #1! Before I grew a little long in the tooth, Brian, the book of Jonah aggravated me to no end! I didn’t like the way the God of the Bible behaved-it didn’t make sense-it didn’t align with science. But God doesn’t give up on us and He worked with me as I shouted and argued with Him, just like Jonah did. The point of Jonah's story is that we're all a little like Jonah. Thanks again, Brian! Blessings!
@@theparadidomichannel5552 I appreciate the civility of your response, and I would like to apologize if my comment came across as disrespectfully to you personally. That said, I have to be honest with you because that is what I value and respect...Intellectual and Informed HONESTY. Anyone who concludes that the god of the christian bible is "LOVING"..... is a morally depraved individual. There is NOTHING loving about sanctioning slavery (Leviticus 25) or instructing abortions (Numbers 5:11-22) or sex trafficking (Exodus 21:7-11, Deuteronomy 21). I can go on and on with scripture after scripture which expressly describes what god commands or instructs about the interactions of his creation. If you want to live in a world consistent with those teachings, that is your right. I don't and will fight with all of my being to ensure that book does not inform the law of the land. I don't want to stop people from living that lifestyle, but I hate anyone who thinks that lifestyle should be the basis for our society. What angers me the most is the hypocrisy of those who pretend to value freedom but want to impose their beliefs upon others. I am not insinuating you are doing that, although I don't know anything about you outside of this post. I am not here to argue with you. I shared my perspective, you shared yours.
No need to apologize, Brian! In my business it is best just to take the self out of the equation. Besides, I believe thin skin is just a sign of ones own hubris. Blessings!
