O, Death
"O, Death" is an Appalachian folk song usually attributed to Baptist Preacher and folk musician Lloyd Chandler. Chandler was a travelling preacher, active around the south, who claimed to have written the song in 1916 after having a terrifying vision after a period of sinning. This vision was a conversation between a sinner and deathThe lyrics were written very early and sometimes the song is referred to as "A Conversation with Death" or simply "Lloyd's Song."
The lyrics of the song are similar to a "negro spiritual" recorded in 1908 as well as an older Irish song called "A Dialogue Between Death and a Sinner" from the late 1800s.
This song has been covered numerous times by famous artist, but this version is by Dock Boggs.

Johnny has Gone for a Soldier | [Instrumental]
I remember watching an IMAX movie called north of Superior. There was a song in it “North strong and free”. The tune was so much like this one.
Who are singing and playing this ballad? Do you have more?
This is by far the best rendition of this 1860’s civil war ballad. Sounds so much like “the hobo’s lullaby” tune. What a beautiful mournful fiddle. Perfect combination.
Fun fact: the Iron Brigade did not march into battle at Gettysburg to this beat, but to "The Campbells are Coming."
"It's those damned Black Hats again! It ain't no militia, it's the Army of the Potomac!" -- Some Reb about to have a very bad Wednesday afternoon.

In the gta verse, Alaska stays Russian. But have American settlers for the gold rushes and oil fields popping up. Also it would the tsars family as well as White Russian fleeing Russia from the red during the Russian civil war in which the Bolsheviks won Russia and forms the Soviet Union and the tsarist loyalists move to Alaska and form their remaining tsardom in Alaska. Tsardom of Russia would be its formal but the world calls it Alaska. A tsarist nation. Also other Russian colonies want to declare independence and those colonies don’t want to join the Soviet sphere of influence. As the colonies of Borealia. Tartaria, Bellinsgauzenia, New Devon, and Russian Ethiopia are independent republics which houses White Russians and tsarist loyalists hiding in there.
After my hardest days at work I sing this song to myself and feel happy

This tune is even earlier, and comes from a Swedish drinking song going back to before the USA even existed. It is called Halta Lotta. The American national anthem also has its roots as an UK drinking song. How come you Yanks knew so many drinking songs lol!

I'm Japanese, but I've always loved Republic's hymns. I thought John Brown was the original song, so I'm happy to meet this. I have a question here, what do people in the United States think of these three songs? Is it a patriotic song that is the foundation of everyone's heart? Or is it a song sung by children?
Battle Hymn of the Republic is the most famous version of this song and its a very culturally important and patriotic song in America.

This should be the Canadian National Anthem. Much more stirring than that dirge O Canada. And restore the red ensign version of the Canadian flag
What? You haven’t heard, even though it’s been said for more than 150 years? You ridiculed it, when we told you. You thought it was untrue. You laughed at it but… you were wrong! About what, you ask? Well, here it is… The South WILL RISE again!! Our beautiful Confederate battle flag will once again fly against tyranny and for freedom and state rights!! It may happen sooner than you think. This is not fiction, hopeful wishes, or a “lost cause”. This is a LEGEND and a PROMISE carried in the hearts of EVERY true Southerner, that is soon to come true and fulfill its destiny…
