Hi Kate,do you need a ham radio license to use this rig ?

I love the old school radios myself, but its getting difficult to get them in decent condition, that don't need recapped, realignment etc, AND that dont cost a ridiculous amount 🙄.. people are so greedy nowadays.. I've owned a few classics, from Ham Jumbo to Murphy homebase, and everything in-between 🤪 I actually use a CRT ss9800 For that reason..no nostalgia but .it works 🤷 Im sure you've heard this before but if you haven't already, get an amateur licence, youd get a pile up every time you keyed up 😂 theres no divide between hams and CBers anymore, most everyone does both 👍

Hi Kate, it’s Joey Triple three Long Island, I finally made it down to South Carolina the radio is totally not what I expected, when I was up on Long Island I was able to speak anywhere as I predicted. It’s a little rough down here in the mountains I can speak to Europe, I can speak to England, of course, and a little bit of Canada, Jamaica, and all south America for some reason I can’t talk to anybody in America unless it’s local one am I supposed to sell my home? It is what it is glad to see you’re still out there , hope we cross antennas

Kate, I had a President Jackson from that same era. Only difference I think is the Jackson has FM as well as AM, USB & LSB. That radio has great receive. Very impressive for an old DX CB radio. 73’

Hello Kate 398 in wis USA bravo India Lima lima (bill) my conditions too noisy here just had class X solar storm it not fully here yet but on its way!! Don't know you follow these storms I have been since that 1rst when farmers implements took soft hit in the fields and John Deere sending out mfg resets for the computers and gps equipt both Canada and USA farmers 100s equipt Then same time had static storm and solar here and my brand new rocket box appeared lost finals wasn't even on it at time had to send back to mfg guy and spend extra 55$ new finals and when came back the high side switch has higher swr almost 2to 1 when low \medium 1\1 stay in med pulling 200 so high side no need \ Have good up coming weekend looking to hear your radio you choose daily😱

They are great radios. I think we almost crossed antennas this morning on 27.410,It sure sounded like you but I couldn’t hear everything you said. UDX267 Alabama stateside with a 👋.

Hi Kate, when you get the noise reduction setup in the menu it will clean up the audio receive amazingly! Best feature on these radios is tye noise reduction feature. Best and 73 Jeff 426 Ontario

Like that Washington Kate. The UK has more cb allocations than the USA. The FCC until recently allocated FM. Although I don't foresee many using FM.

Hi Kate. Love all your vids, and your fabulous reworked/enhanced, old-school 'minters', brilliant. On the noisy RX on the Anytones, I find it's not a fault, I find they have 'massive ears', and so bring the signal/noise up so high, the filtering is overwhelmed. I love them, but on ssb/am, I run the RF gain on approx 70%. As you're listening, just eased the RF gain back slowly, to a noise floor approx. 2 or 3, and you should hear suddenly the RX arrives at a 'sweet-spot', and the filtering pulls the 'wanted' up out of the 'mud'. This is true on all of the Anytone 10m/11m/12m/ and now 15m SSB radios, right from the first SS6900. They got a lot of bad-press for it, because most (including me) didn't understand this issue. Thanks for all yours and your Team's work on promoting the hobby, it's really great, and important positive promotion.

They are a good radio Kate, I have been using the 9900 here in the Philippines on a Sirio 5000 and it’s been absolutely brilliant here, haven’t got the QTH set up yet but will keep a listen out for you. All the best Billy 26AM101/79SW101

its electret not electric lol, electret microphones need a 1.5V bias voltage for them to work dynamic mic's as used on many ham radios don't, so it looks like the former owner was using a dynamic microphone as the default radio setting is ELEC, its always wise to reset a secondhand radio to its defaults before using it

I got the Radioddity QT80 (same radio) and it works very well, I've used it mainly on 15m in the mobile but I'm well happy with it.
