This piece marks my second venture into the Late Romantic style since my composition 'Verzweiflung, Schmerz, Einsamkeit - und Liebe, Hoffnung' (Despair, Pain, Loneliness - and Love, Hope) for violin and piano, which I wrote in 1992 as a first-year university student.
Whilst composing this piece, I experienced a peculiar sensation of returning to my days at Tokyo University of the Arts, where I took my first steps as a musician. I proceeded with my writing, hoping to capture a moment where past and present intersect, whilst recalling the scenes and emotional tremors of that era which could be considered the foundation of my career as a pianist and composer.
Within this musical realm, where Late Romantic passion and delicacy interweave, I have quietly embedded my own memories and emotions. I sincerely hope that through this piece, listeners will perceive sounds that transcend the passage of time
