    Thanks for this video! Amazing to see how strong those trees actually are. I've got a tiny lemon seedling that came up in fall from a dropped seed, and it is surviving my zone 8a winter - with nothing but a cut out plastic bottle to cover it - no damage too! It made me really invested and now im cheering for it every day 😄 Looking at how well your trees did, I'm motivated to try planting some more fruit trees... Loquats, Satsumas, Feijoa.. Maybe even a cold hardy avocado too 👍

      @overlookingview5621 I am so happy that your lemon seedling is putting up a fight against the dark forces of winterstorms. It's been a few years here with my passion for growing a food forest. And I could not imagine one without citrus in it. So if I am to stay well. I will attempt to collect as many citrus varieties as possible. And bring more attention to what many people are missing out on. There were times when it was heartbreaking waking up in the morning after a freezing night and seeing all of my young 17 citrus trees dead and barely hanging on at where I covered them with mulch, it occurred to me that these are like our own babies, we have to help & protect them sometimes when things are overpowering them. A simple act of covering them with a sheet of plastic gave them the wining chance against a much worse freeze than the one that killed them the last time. As you have, I was also inspired by what is called "our relationship" with plants. After all, the language of care and compassion seems to be universal and well understood, but most of the time, we choose to speak another language. I'm really glad that my video inspired you to plant more fruit trees. I do want to advise you to research and understand fruit trees' soil requirements. Sometimes fruit trees look alive, and they're barely hanging on and not ready to fight back against tough times, and that's mostly because of malnutrition and soil conditions. So you make sure you learn about that before investing in planting fruit trees. Best of luck. And don't forget to listen to your trees.

      @@taheranasreen8517 Thank you, I live in SETX, and the weather is unstable with very hot sumers and a few devastating freezes in the winter 🥶. We just had 6-8 inches of snow and a 10F freeze the next day. We're supposed to be zone 9a, but so far, 3 years in a row with zone 8a freezes. My plants have been getting some tough love.

      @GrowsGoneWild Thanks friend! I live in SETX, and the weather is unstable with very hot sumers and a few devastating freezes in the winter 🥶. We just had 6-8 inches of snow and a 10F freeze the next day. We're supposed to be zone 9a, but so far, 3 years in a row with zone 8a freezes. I have to make some adjustments to what i plant outside. Some of my citrus got total leaf damage, but the wood still looks good. I subbed to you. I'll check your videos out.

      @GrowsGoneWild 14 днів тому

      @ dang that sounds cold. Much harder to grow stuff than in SoCal 🤣. I almost moved to Houston a few years back but haven’t been to that side of TX. Thanks for subbing!

    • @Amazzing
      @Amazzing 14 днів тому

      @GrowsGoneWild This place is wonderful, but the weather is challenging. The soil is pretty good, very rich in minerals. And there's plenty of fresh water and organic matter around. I think I can create a really nice example of a self-sustaining, dense food forest here with some zone pushing species as well. I've been in Cal once, and the costal parts have amazing weather. But it's so expensive and crowded with people. Due to affordability and resource availability, I have a feeling we're going to have a lot of growers move into TX. This state has massive potential for growers. Sometimes, people need a nudge and guidance to start growing their own food again. Our societal system is giving many nudges already, and I hope I can go in first and learn as much as I can and be able to provide others some guidance.

    very very nice thank you for shearing. Where did you get the wooden pots? what does you use like soil for your plants, what care does you provide, etc ...? I'm french speaking, so excuse my writing if necessary.

    • @Amazzing
      @Amazzing 22 дні тому

      Hi, im glad you enjoyed the video. The wooden pots are from Home Depot (hardware store), they're a bit expensive and will degrade with time due to them being natural and loved very much by fungus, I used to live in The city and didn't have much space that why I used pots. But there are benefits with using wooden pots. In the summer, they don't get too hot, so the roots don't get cooked, and in the winter, they provide much better insolation to the cold so the soil stays warmer . The soil depends on the plant. Some have more compost and peat moss and organics than others. You have to research the type of plant to provide the right mixture of sand, compost, peat moss, and activated biochar. And mulch on top. There are many things to learn about plants. Throughout the years, I've learned so much, and I feel there is so much more to learn. Continue to watch my videos as I will be sharing my experiences more and more in the future. This journey will take many years. But my goal is to spread this way of life to make more sense of our lifestyle. Cheers!

      Thank you. It's my favorite fruit, at least the wild varieties i used to forage back in Baghdad where I was born. It had an unbelievable taste and was very addictive. I used to eat pounds and pounds at a time. Here in TX, I have to start from scratch, so I'm growing some from seeds. I'm hoping for a similar taste. If so, I'll hybridize it with a Chinese variety to gain some cold hardiness. So I can grow it in the ground and let it reach its famous massive height of a 100ft. At full maturity, this tree can feed a neighborhood.

    13:13 about pots and other garden materials, I like going to Walmart around late to the end end of summer (Aug/beginning of Sept) as they get rid all garden supplies for really low prices. I was able to get a ceramic 15Gal pot for about $10-15 USD. I live in a 9b climate here in South CA, so I don’t understand why they get rid of garden supplies. We basically go into a second spring, but hey- I’ll take the discount.

      Nice Tip there thank you, many companies do the same thing, the current world economy is an ongoing machine that can't afford to be stopped or slow down so its always better to move product even at a loss.

      Yeah. That should work well. I'm no expert in all of this. I am moving towards the natural life and learning along the way and trying to document the process. Some things I research and look into and others I just want to live the wrongs and the rights in hope of witnessing something never seen before.
