From Decolonial to Indigenous Approaches to Constructing Knowledge: where is the Academic Indigenous Network heading?
It presents initial discussions stemming from the process of researching documents on conceptions, practices and environments of health and well-being emerging from the productions of the Indigenous Network, located at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. The dialogical categories for analyzing the materials, previously outlined in the project, had to be adjusted as contact with the records deepened. On the one hand, we observed the need to decolonize the notions used to categorize the data; on the other hand, to compose categories that are inclusive of the understandings that emerge from the material analyzed, which, in turn, was largely produced in co-authorship with indigenous people who are part of the Network's actions and projects. The discussion of these results showed that in the dialog with the indigenous community about well-being and health, different rites define practices of care and knowledge-building. The dialogical tensions analyzed refer to the relevance of socially regulated forms of relationship between people and other beings present in the environment and the need to redefine the university space in order to carry out practices that promote good living and health in dialogue with indigenous conceptions.
