I suspect the reason you don't see a lot of jabbing is because there are a lot of people playing on console, and using jab with controller/gamepad is difficult. Timing and aim can be off especially in third person view, and it's sharing a button with crouch so you risk crouching instead of jabbing. When I see someone regularly jabbing, it's a dead giveaway that they're using keyboard and mouse.

Why don't they look around them? I play on an Asian server. Its not easy to succeed in a surprise attack because the enemy is always looking around. It is strange that attacks from the side or diagonally are hardly defended.
