Snow Clearing in Courtenay
This video contains information on both the role of the City and the role of residents and businesses during a snow event in Courtenay. City crews work around the clock to maintain over 341 lane km of paved roadway, priority sidewalks and bike lanes. Residents and businesses are asked to remove accumulated snow from sidewalks adjacent to their properties and to clear storm drains and fire hydrants fronting your property.

J'aime <NIA dance !!!!
Congrats!!
What a beautiful dancer you are and such an encouraging and skillful teacher. I truly appreciate your generosity in sharing this class which helped me so much today. Thank you!
Thank you, loved this, just what I needed. Greetings from Finland🤗
Hi Ann Marie 💖 Thank you for this beautiful conscious movement masterpiece! It's become part of my regular wellness practice. At least twice per week. Your energy is inspiring! Consider it liked 100 times more ... for every time I've danced it since discovering it last year. Gratitude and blessings 🙏
Wow that is such a sweet message to receive!! ❤❤❤
Ah, great introductions!
Grazie! Bellissimo ❤
So happy I found this. I used to dance with Tristin in Nanaimo years ago and I truly miss Nia in my life!
Hi Kathy, Tristin is a great teacher! I miss her classes, too. ❤
Hi Ann Marie, I just stumbled across this Nia class and enjoyed it so much! I'm curious if you are currently teaching Nia or dance in an online format? I'd love to take more of your classes. Thank you!
thank you so much
I really enjoyed this. I have CFS/ME and find it difficult to find excersize that's suitable for me. I love yoga but sometimes crave more dance-like movement. This was a great fit for I what I need. The mic wasn't to great, maybe just a glitch on this video. I also wasn't keen on you facing away from the camera, I was watching your back your the whole time as I found it difficult to watch you in the mirror. I just make these points as something you can maybe consider. Overall I really liked this class 💜
Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. This was the very first video we did to tet ro stay active with classes during covid, and I sure did need to learn more about the mic! In Nia classes, the instructor faves the same direction as the students, which makes it easier to mirror movements. It also means you don't have someone watching you while you have your experience of the dance. I hear you, that it's not the norm, and maybe not your preference. 😊 Take care!
What's the name of this routine?
Hi Glenda, I created the routine and don't name my classes in the traditional Nia way. Every class I teach is different. :)
IF you are new to my style of teaching or if you are unfamiliar with this style of yoga, please watch the video through once to familiarize yourself with the poses before you practice. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that yoga includes physical movements as well as an opportunity for relaxation, stress re-education and relief of muscular tension. As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. If you experience any pain or discomfort, listen to your body, and adjust the posture. Continue to breathe smoothly. Come out of the pose if required. Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Yoga is not recommended and is not safe under certain medical conditions. Please consult your physician &/or health care practitioner prior to beginning any new exercise program. I look forward to practicing with you!

I notice the incredible sadness and depression I've been in lifting with the movement. I have to do this MORE again! Thank you so much, loved it!
Hi Talcyona, I'm so glad you felt uplifted. That really warms my heart.
I dont get it. Where are the five stages?
Hi Patty, The Nia 5 Stages is an integrative movement practice based on five developmental moves: embryonic, creeping, crawling, standing and walking.
Hi Patty, If you are referring to the sequemce of 5 movements that Nia calss the 5 syages of healinf, stages that Nia uses, they aren't always part of a class. Other practices, such as Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen's classes, call them the 5 developmental stages. They arent always a part of a Nia class, as they are not a requirement, but an additional offering. They can be included when it fits. It didn't fit for me to do that sequence for this routine. 🙂
That’s a great session Ann-Marie, thank you. Can you let us know what’s the name of the singer and song of the second to last on your playlist? Thank you!
This was the first time I tried yoga Nia, but definitely not my last time. It was wonderful! And at the end the part with the blanket - I have no words. I just cried through that song, cried because of the emotions that have come up. Thank you!
That blanket song is one of my favourites, and every time I do it it's so meaningful to me. Thank you for sharing that it really touched you, too.
Just what I needed since all the teachers where I live have stopped teaching for now. Thanks.
Thank you! Love this Nia class! Please do more of these if you can. Thank you so much for sharing!! Namaste
Nice class. Very easy to follow! Thank you
Thank you. That was lovely. What is the name of the second last song that talks about having compassion for each other?
Yes that’s my question too! I’d love to know who wrote and sings that song . It’s so powerful!
Do you offer other zoom classes? Will you please make some more videos?
If you'd like to see more videos, and dance to new music, go to my youtube channel at ua-cam.com/channels/Qe0dnN64d3Vzw2v7cs6RiA.html
I love how the internet can connect us all - dancing and laughing and living joyfully together! Here is a link to my youtube channel, where I've put a few more dance videos. 😀 Better sound!! ua-cam.com/channels/Qe0dnN64d3Vzw2v7cs6RiA.html
I loved this! I have Hashimotos and have had a hard time finding workouts that I can do. However, though this was challenging, I actually found myself laughing during the workout because it was so much fun. I only lasted 17 mins., but I plan to continue doing this daily until I can complete the whole thing. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all!
Wow! How lovely to know that you've had a great time, and enjoyed yourself. 😊 A family member of mine has Hashimotos, so I know how challenging that can be for energy levels. So glad you took care of yourself and knew when to pause. And hey - laughter is the best medicine, so sounds like you got a good dose. I do have a few other videos on youtube, which you can see at ua-cam.com/channels/Qe0dnN64d3Vzw2v7cs6RiA.html. Take care!💫
Thank you so much. It has been years since I learned NIA with Helen Terry and I loved dancing again!
Hi Kathy, Helen Terry is awesome!! I'm so glad you had a good time dancing with this video today. Helen has lots of Nia options online, and here is a link to a few more of my videos if you feel called to dance with me again. 💜 ua-cam.com/channels/Qe0dnN64d3Vzw2v7cs6RiA.html
Amazing. Thank you so much. Love.
I was definitely in favour but somehow missed the announcement of the public hearing, which I feel badly about as this issue is near and dear to me.
Very enjoyable thank you ❤️
Enjoyed very much thank you. xo
So beautiful. I needed this tonight. Thank you.
Loved this and Ann Marie was great. It's a shame the sound is so horrible.
Yes, it was our first ever video to make! We had such a learning curve to ride. 😆 Definitely improved over time, and was glad we had the time needed to learn the editing tech required to make things sound better. The better sounding ones are available at www.embodiedbeing.ca under the Dance tab. 👍⭐
is there a chance you can post on the website what machines/equipment are available or even a video walk through of the gym?
Hi K Holmes, thanks for your question. Equipment in use includes functional trainers, Jungle Gym multi station, treadmills, cross trainers, stair climbers, recumbent bicycles, stationary bicycles, strength machines, and free weights. This is also posted at courtenay.ca/wellness
This is just what I needed today, thank you ❤
That would be just that many more people homeless in Courtney if not for Armando and as well as Armand, both slumlords, who've continue to operate for the last 30 years because they have lots of money! if they've been running that long the corruption goes way past the slumlords
@WendyMorin respect
This was fun and a great workout. I did a few sessions of NIA in the summer and really liked it. This was a great video to get my body moving again after being sedentary this winter.
Thank you so much for this video. I do a NIA class in Hunstanton, Norfolk, England so really enjoyed this and have shared it with our tutor.
No sound on the video, can it be fixed?
That was awesome, thanks!
I am SO IMPRESSED !
I really appreciate these videos being posted and archived where the public can see them. I used to have a hard time making it into the meetings. Now I have a more flexible ability to stay informed!
Back again
thanks for the new one! I had so much fun! hugs to you Ann Marie
Thanks Courtenay Rec and Comox Valley Community Foundation! What a lovely opportunity! :)
