Symphony in Space by Matthew Tucker
A visual representation of Matthew Tucker's suite "Symphony in Space", a collaboration between Tucker, Māpura Studios and iion to mark the International Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December 2023. Tucker transformed the lights of Te Ara I Whiti / The Lighpath, Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau, into piano keys, assigning each a stellar constellation. He then “played” the stars, from the brightest to dimmest.

On Saturday 26 June kites of all shapes and sizes filled the sky, symbolically connecting heaven and earth. There were plenty of kids, kites and kai, all in celebration of Matariki. Manu Aute Kite Day is brought to you by Auckland Council in partnership with Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, with support from Vector Limited, Britomart and The Hits. Proudly supported by Ōrākei Local Board.
