NEW Criminology, Section 12.1: Integrated Theories
Переглядів 312 місяці тому
Hypothetically, explanations of crime can better predict criminality if they combine concepts from many different previous theories. This combination could hypothetically explain crime with much more accuracy than any single theory by itself. It would be difficult to combine theories that have contradictory assumptions, but it's possible to take concepts from these competing theories and modify...

The age - crime curve is one of the most established facts in the field of criminal justice. It seems to be near universal, applying to every culture in all of recorded human history. Its height can go up and down based on many factors, but the basic shape with crime rising rapidly in adolescence, peaking in the late teens, and then slowly dropping as people age seems to be constant. Life Cours...
NEW Criminology, Section 10: Conflict Theory
Переглядів 432 місяці тому
The term "conflict theory" describes a large group of inter-related theories that all contain the notion that there are powerful groups and non-powerful groups in society, and the powerful groups create laws and design the criminal justice system in a way to intentionally keep the powerful group powerful. The three major power divides we discuss are based on class, gender, and race. There is so...

NEW Criminology, Section 9.1: Strain Theory
Переглядів 362 місяці тому
"Crime is an economic problem!" has been a common claim throughout human history. The first major strain theory, proposed by Merton in the late 1930s, stated that strain results from a failure to achieve the "American Dream" and become rich and famous. Merton claimed there were five possible ways to adapt or respond to that strain, including conforming, ritualism, retreatism, innovation, and re...

The first people to really try and measure crime in different geographic areas were Quetelet and Guerry in France in the 19th century. They found that crime wasn't distributed the way that the theories of the time might predict. This idea was expanded upon in Chicago in the early 20th century, when researchers examined data in the city of Chicago and noticed that crime stayed in a certain "zone...

NEW Criminology, Section 7.1: Labeling Theory
Переглядів 192 місяці тому
Labeling theory operates under the assumption that the label of "deviant" gets applied to people (usually children) and then they internalize that label and begin to act like a deviant. This process of seeing ourselves through the eyes of the rest of society and our self image being created by the views and reactions of the people around us is a well studied factor of sociology. Reintegrative s...

NEW Criminology, Section 6.1: Control Theories
Переглядів 392 місяці тому
Control theories switch the question from "why do criminals commit crime?" to "What prevents non-criminals from committing crime?" They see the "default" person as criminal and ask what factors prevent most of us from committing crime. There were a few early social control theories, mostly focused on the difference between "internal" and "external" factors that prevent people from becoming crim...

We know people can learn stuff (that's the entire point of like... school) so why can't criminality be a learned behavior? It all started with Sutherland, who said people learn "definitions" either favorable or unfavorable to crime. The reason adolescents commit so much crime/deviance is because they are spending more time with peers at that age, and those peers are much more likely to be delin...

I love how this sheltered echo chamber "research" is somehow more important than real world observation. Crime just keeps getting worse because of you folks and your ideas, but you'll never care as long as you aren't directly affected by a violent crime. "Vast majority of criminals are one timers" is the most preposterous thing I've heard in a while. Total detachment from reality.

My wife works in child safeguarding, and I remember talking to a media lawyer in Sweden who told me that ch@ld p@rn was legal for 7 (or so) years in Denmark, in the late 70s and early 80s, due to a loophole in the law. He stated that a lot of the CP in "circulation" comes from period. That's so alien it's hard to believe. I come from Britain, and "hardcore" was illegal there until I was about 25, or so (currently 44).

There's a predator UA-camr by the name of ZeroDarkTony in which a 16 year old autistic child had to file a restraining order against to protect himself and his family. This man has psychologically terrorized this boy and his family, even talking about SA'ing his mother and speaking of her in vile ways. All on livestream and with community posts. The terms of the RO were that he was to stop harassing and cease talking about them immediately but he has refused. He claimed he had the images of the restraining order but deleted those words and is now stating he refuses to be found to be served. What else can we do in order to protect this child and his family? I'm really concerned about the welfare of this kid. I know of him because he protests a well known cult and I have suspicions that Tony is in cahoots with them and that's why he is targeting ex-members who tell their stories and the people who use their Constitutional right to peacefully protest. Any advice would be helpful.

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. I wish I could help more, but my advice is this: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Screen shots, times and dates, save copies of everything on your own devices. 2. Talk to a lawyer. I know they can be expensive, but you may be able to find someone who will take your case pro bono, because it's a child involved.

These videos mean so much to me. There is a creator Curtis Price that lied and titled his video, saying someone was illuminaughti sister. Because we know illuminaughti was all over youtube, I guess he decided to lie to trend. Unfortunately, this lie bought on more cyberstalking for the creator. As we tell the creator to change his actions and correct his audience for fear of the stalking, the audience just doubles down and keeps the trolling up all while calling us trolllers because we speak up. The cyberstalkes often seeks justification in audeinces through badwagoning or brigading, that blindly support a creator.

When is a woman not a child anyway? Revoke women's right to vote. Give daddy the power to choose who marries the girl, backed with the full power of the state. In average, girls have sex at 14yo nowadays... young girls actively go looking for sex at 14yo. Because honest men respect the law, young women are taught by criminals and losers. It is incredibly difficult to protect children when the whole system of "sexual liberation" which was built and voted into law by women, is fucking society as a whole. To censor CP online, we've got to take control of our women and girls in real life first. Maybe having Trans people teaching exotic sexual positions at school is not really helping either... It's not a 100% solution, but it's a 100% not my kids type of solution. Men must take back control of the law. If we can choose who touches our daughters and if we have contracts forcing men to stay with the girl they choose, it might help a lot too. Damage is not due to the age alone. 14yo girls are damaged because of the behaviour of their partner, who sells our girls bodies online, who may threaten them or play mind games on them. It's very cursed and it happens with older women too. The whole system is fucked, it's not "just the internet".

Leave your critical thinking skills at the door.
