Mole was (still is) brilliant. Although Starving Artists were fairly easy to mix: one vocal, 1 guitar, 1 bass + drums.

Yes. The image you see at 2:31 in the 'video' is the cassette card for the 2nd recording. The versions of Wallflower & Acid Rain are, however, the same as the ones from the 1st album.

I don't doubt you, m8. But I only knew it from a tape I had (back when) from the John Peel show. FYI The only dbl 7" I recall having was, The Saints - One Two Three Four. Bought it around early '78 at the only 'hip' record shop (Kalex) in Coatbridge.

The 1st songs of theirs that I heard were Terror Couple (45) & Bela Lugosi (12”). Don't know if it was 'life changing', but I did think they were ah-mazin'. Especially Bela. I did check, btw. They did not play Flat Field at that Glasgow (Tiffany’s) show. But they did play Stigmata Martyr & Spy in the Cab (<- that one's also on my channel).

Thanks, fur the links. Aye, ah found that Vibracobra23 channel a while ago. He has some great stuff on there. And the quality is usually way superior to my (now over 40 year) old cassettes. I don’t know, however, if he has the original broadcast of the Altered Images session, which was the one I recorded the song (& Peel’s comments) from. Peel even mentioned the date (16th October 1980), in one of the other comments.

@@eddieviscosity I don't know who runs the channel you're quoting, but I'm fairly certain it's not the ghost of John Peel... The BBC Peel Sessions archive states that the session was recorded on 7th October and first broadcast on the 14th, but the unofficial John Peel wiki seems to claim it was the 16th. Alas, I didn't write the dates on my cassettes...

@@scotmark Neither did I m8 (record a date). It seems unlikely, however, that Peel woulda played it on both the 14th and the 16th. So, who kin we trust? Probably nut the organization that covered up for Savile - or Peel's ghost. So, let's just 'agree', sometime in mid-October 1980.

@@eddieviscosity As vile as the management of any organisation may be, the beeb had many excellent people working at ground level, including some amazing engineers on all of those sessions. I'd put the people maintaining the sessions archive in the latter group, not the former. But yeah, all us pitiful humans make mistakes, so I'm not betting on either the 14th or 16th. The fact it was recorded on the 7th seems undisputed, however!

Starving Artists wrote their own songs. So, the individual members often worked on their 'ideas' on their own, then brought them to band practice. Sometimes they 'became' a SA's song. Sometimes not, but maybe (e.g.) the lyrics got used for another song.

Ah think it took Bert more than a week to make up & learn all ease bass parts. You should try doin’ some ‘remixing’ on that live tape (mibby even an overdub or 2). The guitar’s too quiet & SkaMencz’s keyboard is a bit too loud. Apparently lalal.ai kin do some nifty stuff these days.
