    We average over 200lbs per hive in Saskatchewan . Our honey flow is July And August . Running double brood chambers and giving the bees space and stimulation by allowing them to lay in 3 boxes no excluder and feeding non stop fr april to the 3rd week of June . Fall feeding with sucroseand wintering in groups of 4 double deep hives insulated for the long winter of 6 months . Is the magic 🎩 ✨️ .

    Thank you for video. Best greetings from beekeepers in Ukraine. But I guess that in a big city even in a green zone it is unsafe for local people fo keep even 2-3 beehives.😮😮😮😮

    he should slowly lower the boxes to avoid squashing bees on the edges... hate to see those guys get squashed like that. otherwise great video

    I like how you handle the bees but I'm confused about how this is single brood chamber management when you just added a second deep without a queen excluder below it. Thanks

    • @oddlyspecific186

      He is essentially turning a single brood chamber into a double brood temporarily to take advantage of the bees strength to draw out comb and fill it with larvae/pollen/honey. Im pretty sure the part 2 video will be to watch for swarm cells and then you would split the two deep boxes up giving each one equal brood like making a nuc, with one box having the old queen and the other allowed to raise the new queen cells. Then you would put the queen excluders back on both boxes and add a super on top of those when they require space to store more honey.

    Hey Steve, have you ever tried spraying your hands lightly with Honey Bee Gone to see if it keeps bees from crawling on and stinging your hands? Please let me know. I'm trying new ways for gloves other than those cumbersome bee gloves. Thanks.

    • @meadowsweetbees
      @meadowsweetbees 4 роки тому

      I have not but that would likely irritate the bees. Generally just lightly smoking my hands before I go in is enough. Move slowly and avoid crushing need and you’ll be fine.

    Hey Steve. I too use a 1 brood box system and I appreciate your part one video. Is there a part two video? My question is when after extracting here in N. Calif. where temps are still in the high 90's, do you take off the honey supers and put the bees that were in the 2 or 3 supers back in the brood box and then treat for varroa and go through the winter in a single brood box?. They are really crowded so there must be a different method. Any help would be appreciated .
