A key highlight of this mela is the Diwali celebration, which is observed a month later than the actual Diwali. At the stroke of midnight, devotees gather in a specific spot to perform traditional dances, rituals, and lighting diyas to honor Guru Kailapeer, the revered deity. One of the most unique rituals involves lighting a bunch of Paral (a local grass) and rotating it around, symbolizing the removal of negativity and bringing in good fortune.
The next day, thousands gather for an awe-inspiring sight - Guru Kailapeer appears in human form, and the crowd whistles in joy as they greet their beloved deity. The celebrations continue with a visit to Purana Ka Shera, where the community, alongside the devta, takes seven rounds of the sacred ground, asking questions and seeking blessings.
