Betty from The Peyton Place!
Fantastic
Barbara Parkins was not gritty enough or could come close to hitting the gutter level of Patty Duke/funny Barbara Parkins is very dramatic in her interpretation/Patty Duke seemed to play it for real, perhaps too close to home!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love this couple. Are they still married?I think Mike Passed away ❤🎉😊
Had Patty not been cast as Neely and had Mark Robson not directed, Barbara would've been phenomenal in the role. She was perfect for Anne, but she is so meticulous with every part of this test.
Totally wrong for Neely, but perfect as Anne.
Sparkle Neely sparkle 😂🥰💖🌸
The last of a great cast from the iconic film. She was and still is classy. What a trend setter. Priceless era.
She is so right. I hadn't thought about it . I had a HUGE crush on her ever since "Peyton Place." I was a 19 year old young guy and thought she was georgeous! She proved it in "Valley Of The Dolls." Loved "Mephisto Waltz" too ! I'm glad she chose what was going to make her happy in life. 👍🙏💙
She's a hot mess!
SUCH A GORGEOUS WOMAN
Most romantic pair of all time.
The actresses were wonderful but this script is so bad. Barbara was my favorite actress from the movie ❤
Good thing I can lip-read.
She is excellent here. You can tell she worked so hard on this audition. All her transitions are so clear, smooth and well timed. This is not an easy task that she accomplished.
It's a good test but she makes a better Anne. Anne is quiet, reserved, and cerebral, a more introverted brainy character and Barbara Parkins embodied that. In fact of the three, I found Anne the most relatable and consequently my favorite character of the trio because of that cool intelligence and that she can see a life outside of show business. In that world but not really a part of it. Neely is scrappy, over the top, argumentative, emotional and raw, like a former tough street kid suddenly becoming glamorous. Patty Duke embodied that because in many ways she was Neely. She understood that world and what it meant.
What show is that from??
1973
That's suçh along time ago! Feel sorry. For him Poor Richard h😊having to.put up with the pretence! Wish we,were friends then! ...but I was only about 6. Then Xxx and going through abuse as a child, ....loves you Rich xxx
It would have been interesting to see the result if Barbara and Patty had switched roles.
Smoldering……
What a perfectly beautiful woman.
BOOZE.... just what a vacuous brain-dead forgetful pill-popping mother needs to round out the day. :)
They don't much more beautiful than her....
I'm not a film critic, so I'm not sure of her performances...but she's prettier than Paul McCartney and sultrier than Betty White. My wife was almost as hot as her..... thanks for posting, I've never seen this film and never will as I loathe Lee Marvin.
She's a darned good actress... but mostly she's a volcano in a tight dress. She never looked better, and I LIKE her.
Parkins is a smoldering steamy volcano in a tight dress. I can't look away.
I don't know why they keep labeling this film as campy. It's a classic from presence, style, cinematography,How Men and Women looked and carried themselves during the mid sixties. It stands the test of time in different ways not just because of the popular comments that have been said before. Always enjoy watching it over and over. With a Martini and snacks for a night in at 🏡 home. 1967 was an assume year.
Yes was heading off to Vietnam
I really don't see her as Neely O'Hara.....I could see some other People in the role like Liza Minnelli or possibly Natalie Wood (she had just played a singer who drinks and smokes and marries a Gay actor in INSIDE DAISY CLOVER) - but, although Anne Welles isn't a very interesting character, Barbara Parkins played her quietly and properly.
:39
She sparkled🎉
Wow thanks for sharing❤❤❤
She's so rotten with her whispered line reading it's a miracle that they still hired her at all.
Lee Remick before Damien got her!
No matter what ANYONE says, I still love the film !
Love both the book and the movie
Please refilm this and repost. It’s gold.
Patty Dukes performance was awful.
It wasn't 'awful' just very over-the-top because Mark Robson didn't know when to "pull her back" a bit like during some of the scenes in the mental institution and some of the scenes where she screams "I need a doll! Just ONE!"
Barbara was too patrician looking and sounding to play anyone but Anne.
Barbara was perfect as Ann. She isn't hard enough or unpolished to play Neely.
Neither Burt Bacharach nor Jimmy Webb wrote the theme from the valley of the Dolls; it was written by Andre Previn
Some good insights, but she was totally wrong for the role of Neely. Patty NAILED it!!!
Barbara was beautiful but Faye can make anyone look plain
Barbara is gorgeous
So 1967! Love the Bacharach/Webb theme song.
This is so confusing. For the theme of the film which was written by Andre & Dory Previn at Disney, the songwriters were nominated for a Grammy in 1969 for their efforts.
She EMBODIED this character so deeply for seven minutes straight. THIS is TALENT!!
Wow
She is too classy for Neely but it's not bad if you can separate Patty Duke's performance. And you have to remember there is a score that comes in when her mood goes up. You don't get that here. The score always helps.
Willy seems much nicer then the other guys she’s messed around with
You needn't worry about Willy, He was gay and moved to San Francisco
