So relevant to the current moment!
"Escape TO Freedom" - who would Erich Fromm vote for? Perhaps we'll take the garbage truck😂
Mind expandingly insightful. Thank you for your analysis
"Love is the disposition to know."
_WHO WOULD ERICH FROMM VOTE FOR?_
Time to distinguish between mental sanity and sanity-in-humanity. Nobody's done it before?
Was there _EVER_ a sane society?
_Why_ does society promote insanity.
Define "harmful".
*who would Erich Fromm vote for?*
Human nature is not uniform.
Fromm projects what _he_ wants into general humanity. I'm like Bart Simpson: I don't want to fill my head with wisdom, just wanna be able to break a board with it.🙂

Trianon set the stage for WWII. But why?
The truth shall set you free.
Man "feels" I am I as an image of the *I AM*
If you see this: _please_ ask me a question. Gathering data to sue utube. ✌️
Per say, Fromm "knows" all this: did Aristotle, Plato...etc, know all this? If not why not?
Too bad Fromm wasn't elected Supreme Grand Wizard of the Universe. That way he could implemented his benign, enlightened views with an iron fist. ✌️edit: "could have"( it's 6:30 am...)
All the heresies were simplifications of the Roman Catholic faith.
The pyramid builders were union workers. They were given beer for breakfast.🙂
"but isn't this our calling - to rule over the simple" 🙂
Freedom is something different for the sheep and the wolves. 🙂
WWI set the ground for WWII. But what created WWI?
The Truth shall set you free - who said that? 🙂
Fromm makes obvious mistakes in the book. "Medieval Europe grew up on judeo-greco thinking. Then again: it's _foolishness to the Greek blasphemy to the Jew_ ✌️
"Faith until death or a knife in your eye" (Lemmy Kilmister - Love Me Forever)
I wonder what Fromm thought about the equality of humans.
Surprisingly, shadow-banning is not about banning shadows😅
"I don't think in terms of a theistic concept" (Fromm; The Art Of Loving - Love of God chapter beginning) Having said this he seems to find human sanity in _love_ . Now, Elon Musk propagates "cultural Christianity"✌️
I'm gonna advertise my book to you, good people. Not written yet. Humanology - is the title. More later🙂
American society...,🙂

Not that I know of, but there certainly should be one.

I have hard time creating relationships with people. I often find it hard to meet people that are not addicted to drugs, alcohol, or have severe mental health issues etc. in general I have encountered more dysfunctional and unhealthy people than healthy people. In general I learned that people are driven by self interests, narcissism and many have been so psychologically damaged by their childhoods that they be it consciously or unconsciously become people who abuse , exploit and take advantage of others because they don’t know what love is and their only way of meeting their own needs is to take advantage of others. Now that I am in graduate education I can say that I don’t have sadness, or feel alone anymore. I am far too busy and I do many things on my own to care about being with others.
Turned the gain up too much.
Very great video may I ask could you finish the last 4 books of meditations that would be greatly appreciated
Thank you for your support. I will put the rest of Meditations on the list.
Excellent video. I read The Sane Society some twenty years ago and it had a marked impact upon me. I am currently reading 'To Have Or To Be' and re-engaging with Fromm's brilliant ideas and insights.
That book is most definitely on our list. I hope you will be back for that video.

Im all for democracy, but when you realize the ease of falling into mass formation and the dangers of mob rule, plus the lack of real education and self-work by the majority of people, majority rule becomes a terrifying prospect.
Great video! Like Jiddu Krishnamurti said; "In order to be free one has to be able to stand completely alone and not belong to any group. This takes great strength and vitality". This goes against our social nature and brings insecurity like Erich Fromm describes in "Freedom from.. and Freedom to.". It's near impossible to find a truly free society nowadays. It's all an illusion of "Freedom" under the idea of democracy. Like Benjamin Franklin said; "Democracy is like two wolves and a lamb voting what's for dinner".
Excellent quotes to accompany this! Even Christ alluded to it somewhat, "blessed are those who accept social ostracization in the service of me." I think many insightful people noticed this fact. Jordan Peterson taught me the importance being disagreeable. Being a lone wolf in a mad world can be necessary.
It takes a while to realize, that the abstract right to “free speech” is so wild, precisely because common people are devoid of the power to be heard in the first place. Yes, by all means here on social media, maybe you are ‘one in a billion’ reading this story as of now, much like me expressing my individual views in any way that I would like to. However, in reality, these opinions will be rendered largely irrelevant. This is the general condition of most people living within 21st century global Empire. Point being, what does critical theory or the Intelligentsia have to do with “free speech” in the real world, sans the platforms, patronage and limits, all provided for by private capital and invisible power.
It's easy to feel small and give up hope. Somehow we need to accept that our individuality is worth something, and worth standing for.
Thanks. fantastic work
