Whether its spending time doing essential maintainance of my boat and equipment or out on the boat fishing, on my own or with family and friends, at anchor around wrecks, adrift on a deep sea trip all the while looking for that elusive unicorn or big fish around Portsmouth and the Solent upto 40miles offshore.

Solent Social One Mackerel Challenge - Fishing on the Solent
With the upcoming Solent Social Challenge 2024
Prepping the baits
The rule, 4 rods, 3 hooks and 1 mackerel per rod so getting the most bait cuts as possible was my objective.
I think I have enough baits to get me through the competition.
30 mid size cuts
4 head baits
4 tail baits
57 strip baits that can be cut in half on the day to make an additional 60 baits if needed.

Finally, a break in the weather and a chance to get out fishing took my son out in search of Cod, after 8 hours all we caught was Doggies, Whiting, Bullhuss and a few congers. While it wasn't the best trip catch wise, still nice father and son time.

Woke up at silly o'clock Sunday, and for a change my teenager was also awake so we both thought we grab the chance to hit some pre breakfast fishing. Camera wasnt recording when we started, and by the time I realised I missed over 40mins of recordings of mackerel and bass, as we started fishing just after 6am. So had to record from that point. Put a wet cloth or a tea towel under your cutting board, and it'll stop moving, making it easier to cut.

Thanks mate it's been a lot of hard work.
I have a 27 foot Bell, she has twin fords on Volvo legs, I am taking all that out and building an outboard bracket and sticking a Suzuki DF250 on her, see you out there in the spring for the plaice, SeaWolf is the boat name, she is on the mooring from where you bought Easy Blue.
Nice, I did consider changing mine to give more deck space for Fishing, but was advised against it. Might reassess next year.
So nice to see that boat being used, the bloke who had her before you must had owned her for about five years and never took her anywhere, was such a waste
It's been a trying time using her as it's been a year of things going wrong but she is finally fully operational.

They are a good boat, and solid too
@@easybluefishing maybe I should have got one, but i went for a Lochin which is more expensive to run :(
@@offshore_fishing_and_boats all boats are expensive to run, i dont know any boat owners that dont have a panic attack when heading to a fuel berth or when its getting close to service time 🤣🤣

I havent fished brighton way for years, whats the fishing like there now? as for the boat, yes she is a 1983 Aquabell 27
@@easybluefishing good for bass, wrecks hmm well hit and miss like anywhere except congers they are pretty easy. Flatties lots of small plaice, rays but not abundant. Codling - pretty rare. I'm giving shark a go this year 🤣
I have a shark competition in september over in Falmouth, plus I will be doing a few shark trials in June/July on my own which will be a bit closer to home.
When I had my boat I try to film a video for UA-cam on my phone too. Just crap 😂 I feel your pain. Hope to see some more videos 👍🏻

@@easybluefishing yeah I think that’s the same with everyone mate. When I recorded mine i have never heard myself talk the way I did in that video before 😂

Ain't that the truth, owning a boat is an expensive hobby, but when the weather is good, the fish are biting and drinks are cold. You don't think about the cost because those moments become priceless memories
