While I like your theme song, gents, is there any way you'd consider using a shorter clip? 30 seconds at the beginning of the episode feels like an eternity each week. 😮💨😵💫 Just my $.02
I feel the same about the new Seven Spires. Its my least favorite and it never clicked with me. It doesnt mean I dont like it because it is quite good Following Solveig, Emerald Seas and Gods of Debauchery this was a let down because it had such high expectations.
Why does this podcast have "metal" in the title and then showcase the fucking Foo Fighters? More like the "adult contemporary boomer rock" podcast.
We’ve done over 225 episodes focusing on metal bands and that’s your takeaway? You must be fun at parties.
Unfortunately Jon isn’t touring with them next year so they probably won’t play the Oliva deep tracks
Hopefully they'll play stuff from Power and Hall!
I love Taunting Cobras! The 1st time I saw Savatage was in '94 on the Handful of Rain tour and they opened wirh Cobras! Also saw them on Wake and Poets tours
My first time was in the early 80's at a club for the Power of the Night tour , they opened for Nugent..
Looking forward to seeing the guys when they come to London June 2025 :-)
Awesome episode... Even if Chris has traveled back in time to his original filming location. 🤪
Brilliant to listen in on a really cracking interview. Great questions, really fascinating hearing everything from Steve's perspective. Well worth a listen to every minute. Power Quest seem to be eternally underrated and slept on so thank you for shining a spotlight on a band which should be on every melodic metal fan's radar \m/
We appreciate the kind words! Thanks for listening!
Probably the most underrated metal band of their era. People were just stupid to pass on Nevermore.
Oh I get it now WTF!!!???
WTF what?
Excellent!
Thanks for watching!
@Justin - I am a long time Stratovarius fan, and was very happy to hear about Timo Tolkki's new material on bandcamp. I then found he has a new website. I read on a blog post that he may only be releasing his new stuff on bandcamp, as the percentage of the digital music sales that goes to the artist is very high... somthing around 78% or so. Keep up the great work guys. My favorite part of each podcast is hearing about all the new albums each of you had listened to this past week.
This album got some of the best production ever
I'm glad the world is finding out about Maestrick!
We’re so excited to see them at ProgPower USA next year!
What red are you drinking Justin?
Josh Pinot Noir, nothing extraordinary! -J
Lunar Sanctum is so good, agreed
Thanks for listening! 🤘🏼
I had to skip Megadeth this past Wed due to being sick but recovered quick enough to see Stryper at Mohegan Sun last Friday...and did get Dream Theater tickets (well ticket since I'm going solo 1😁)
How was Stryper??
@@themetalexchangepodcast3811 Great as always and this their 40th anniversary tour. They're very underrated especially their guitar duo of Oz Fox and Michael Sweet. Still 3 original members and currently Perry Richardson on bass (formerly of Firehouse). They've always been my 2nd favorite band all time and my 1st concert in 1989. I try to see them everytime they come around this was my 14th Stryper show and always put on a great highly recommend
So excited to relive the week! I’m gonna save this for the morning, but I’m very glad to see you guys get your recap up so quickly
Would’ve been sooner if I didn’t get sick! Enjoy! -C
"Pool It!" one of the Monkees best albums? I never experienced it that way. I would even prefer Changes to "Pool It!" I do love "Justus". I liked it when it first came out, and have developed an even deeper appreciation for it as time has gone on. Interestingly, in 1999 the Chocolate Watchband (an act that also experienced a resurgence with the aid of Rhino records) also cut a new album which similarly featured the band in total musical control, and blended their classic '60's sounds with contemporary production: Get Away.
I experienced The Monkees 80s comeback in real time so I heard Pool It in tandem with all the older material. Always held a special place in my heart and always will. -C
Amazing. I got this album and literally am obsessed with it. Incredible work of art.
Glad you enjoy it!
Loved the episode, d00dz! 🤪 I still remember being completely blown away by these guys at ProgPower VII in 2006, and am glad that you've covered this album (and The Hours That Remain prior.) Keep up the good work! 🤘😎🤘
Thanks, as always, Toddster!
24:51 LOL
Enjoyed that immensely and could not agree more that freak is a good tune but out of place.
This album is special to me, so I clicked immediately. I had only checked out the Dead Heart in a Dead World episodes, some months back, but I will definitely sub and check more stuff out. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you! 🤘🏼
I like this album, but certainly it's not an essential Angra album. My favorite from the album is Lisbon. 1:04:20 YES!!!!
The new Sebastian bach is great 👍.
Heaven's Edge self title is a awesome album to😂😂😂. Widowmaker blood and bullets, Vince Neil exposed and the scream let it scream.all of those albums are great.I still love them.
Glad Jeff mentioned Stuck Mojo! "Balls" is the definition of their sound
Acres of pee cans.
The Nevermore version of Sound of Silence is my favourite version. It sounds so sinister and malevolent.
a Nevermore comeback is on time , there are amazing singers waiting to be called !!! if anybody can tell the band this, please do it !!!!
nah man, this band died with WD. it's just a guy that cannot be replaced. people need to finally re learn that there are final consequences to things and nothing lasts forever. just let it rest and be glad you got what you got
@@hazardeur I have listen to your opinion for many years and bands that moved on without "important" members have proof me wrong, unless it is the "the one and only creative force" behind the band , like chuck from death of kurt from nirvana as an example , there is still talent and creativity to keep going with the band.
@@hazardeur kinda on time this nickcarpenter dude.
@@nikcarpenter-vi4qk yeah so why not do it under a new name then? WD was absolutely critical to make that band what they were. using the name, they will either do some washed up nevermore-y stuff or just some different stuff, both not a good fit for nevermore. if they keep it too close and find a voice clone, it will sound just not as good and if they find a killer vocalist it will likely sound completely different especially since both of them have also further matured. they can only lose with this strategy. this should be a new band without any past restrictions to have to sound a certain way or having some poor vocalist having to tread in WD's footsteps. this is a losing game and it should have been set up way differently
54:20 I love Prisoner of Your Love, probably my favorite Malmsteen ballad. This is one of the most balanced albums Malmsteen put out (alongside Facing the Animal). There's something for everybody. And Vescera is a hell of a singer.
100%
WTF?
I just casually listened to the album the other day. I was very surprised.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You need to interview Andy Edwards, he is very proficient on UA-cam
Wow, big one and unexpected
No way! I was hoping for an Evergrey review, and you picked my favorite album from them. I'm interested to hear about what y'all think of When The Walls Go Down.
Hope you enjoyed our commentary! Welcome to the Metal Exchange!
THANK GOD you're *FINALLY* doing an Evergrey episode. Not doing them for over 200 episodes is borderline criminal. You were this >< close to getting indicted. 🤪
We couldn't hold out any longer!
A huge Mithotyn and Falconer fan here. Thanks for the interview that enabled us to absorb what Stefan thinks and feels about his creation. I hope we can keep hearing more from him in the future.
Thanks for listening!
I hope they check out Control Denied, with chuck on guitars, and Tim Aymar from Pharaoh on vocals. It's right up their alley, musically.
Great job metal dudes! I really like the classification as "alt-metal".... serves it better because this album is basically a kitchen-sink of styles. I totally support your picks of the week too, both of those songs I have been completely obsessed with in times past. "Fight for Life" does have a one of the best choruses, but what gets me is it's the first time you hear the tremolo/ambient/shoegaze sound on the album, and it just takes my ears to outer space every time, along with that CHONK from the guitar. Hymn of a Broken Man is also so massive, a definite win in the "Title Track" column. Chock full of great elements, lyrics, and screams! Very fun hearing your thoughts on the album, and all the comparisons. As far as the classic KSE albums, The End of Heartache is probably the most recognized work from the Howard Jones era. With Jesse Leach, I would say Disarm the Descent, but that one is a little more subjective. They have shades of comparison this album, but they are definitely their own thing as well.
This is such a gift for every NEVERMORE fan. Thank you!!! Had to add, We Disintegrate and Engines of Hate my favorite tracks from the album, though it's so hard to choose.
Thanks for listening!
Thanks guys for the deep dive into "The Zornheim Sleep Experiment"!
It was our pleasure!
Elegy-supermacy you need to cover turns 30 this year
Great suggestion!
Kudos for discussing this album. But you guys need to do your research. "Stripped down"? This album is anything but. Lots of tracks, nuance, and layers going on throughout, due to Mike Shipley's influence (who comes from the Mutt Lange school of production/mixing). Also, "less money" going into the production? The album cost $300,000 to make, which Kip has widely disclosed. That's a big-budget production by any standard, not to mention for a band of Winger's ilk in 1993.
Thanks for listening! We appreciate your added insight on some things we may have missed.
Will always be my favorite Edguy album. It was my introduction to them and saw them on that tour opening for Hammerfall in Worcester 8/13/05.
Love to hear it. Let's hope they make their triumphant return!
This is basically the Album that made me a power metal fan. So glad to hear you guys talk about it
🤘🏼
Cómo se llama la banda que mencionó Jeff? Suck moyo?? Algo así
Stuck Mojo
Brilliant band! Brilliant album!
