We are retirees from the American Southwest; New Mexico, U.S.A. We are living a simple but a fulfilling life. Scenes from our daily activities are featured in these videos.
River Walk At The La Llorona River Trail - New Mexico
The La Llorona Trail at The Rio Grande River in Old Mesilla in New Mexico, U.S.A. is a favorite place of ours. The farms nearby are busy & their water generator pumps can be heard loudly in some areas. However, it is still a peaceful & beautiful walk along the river bank of The Rio Grande River.

Fall is here & I'm replanting the buckets for our container garden. Much of our vegetable plants are at their end. My Mescum greens mix & spinach seeds have sprouted. Meanwhile, two feral cats are at play at our backyard. We've provided food, water, & shelter for them. It's a great day!
Our Simple Life With Feral Cats
Переглядів 179День тому
We are a retired couple, living in the American Southwest of New Mexico. Our simple life includes having a container vegetable garden & caring for a half-grown TNR feral kitten. His name is Brownnie. Brownnie's Mom is Millie who came to visit today. Millie is completely feral & hard to trap. She joined in the play game.
Momma Feral Cat Came To Play
Переглядів 724День тому
Feral cats in our backyard garden are featured in this video. We are socializing them with play. By playing with them with dropped pinecones & a fabric handmade mouse on a stick, we are conditioning them to touch so that we can apply flea treatments to them if needed. Brownnie's momma feral cat, Millie, came to play.

Feral Cats & Our Container Garden At The End Of Summer
Переглядів 14214 днів тому
The summer crop in our container garden in the American Southwest, in the state of New Mexico, is now at its end. Leaves of the plants are turning brown but we are trying to extend them until the weather turns cold & they expire. We have a resident TNR feral half-grown kitten Brownnie, who lives in our backyard. He has food, water, & bed in our covered side patio. Brownnie prefers to live & pla...

Переглядів 17414 днів тому
Our feral half-grown kitten loves to play with the water. He is TNR & lives in our backyard patio. His mother, Millie, a complete feral has evaded capture & still not spayed nor vaccinated. We hope to have her fixed someday, if caught.

Socializing Feral Cats Through Play
Переглядів 19414 днів тому
Socializing feral cats through play is featured in this video. Mama feral cat, Millie, is totally feral but participated in "mousie" play while visiting. She is wary & is difficult to trap as she knows what the trap is. She doesn't go in the trap & cannot be enticed with food. She runs away when she sees the animal control truck. By gaining her trust, maybe she'll be trapped & spayed.

TNR Feral Cat Brownie Is More Fun Than Picking Cherry Tomatoes
Переглядів 10721 день тому
TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) feral cat, Brownnie who is a half-grown kitten, shows a great deal of affection & trust. He loves to play, chasing a terry cloth sewn mouse on a stick. We are providing him w/ food, water, & a bed at our covered patio. He is welcome to stay for as long as he likes. He's been invited indoors, but he doesn't want to go in. He is definitely more fun than picking tomatoes.

Enjoyed your gardening and the cats ❤
Thank you, MarieaRussell. 🥰🐱🐈⬛
That clipped ear makes Brownie look a bit raffish, which cats are anyway. My mom has an orange feral cat in her yard who also has a clipped ear. She named him Vincent.
He's raffish, Alys but lovable. 😸🌷Your Mom's choice of name (Vincent) is a good one. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌻
Thanks ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
I hope that the people who see my cat are even #$%^ nicer
Thank you for your comment. 😸🌷
God this video saved me.
Thank you for your comment. 🐱🌷
Well done, im doing this job soon, swamp cooler leak damage as well,
Our best to your repair work on the swamp cooler leak. Thank you for stopping by. 😀
They are always moving and keeping busy. Nice video
Thank you for stopping by, David. 😀🌷
As long as he wants to? That cat ain't going anywhere.....LOL
Morning bro..nice to meet you 🤝
Good morning. Thank you for stopping by. 😸
🤩
Thank you, Alys. Brownnie now lives at the patio & is friendly. He doesn't want to come inside yet. 😸
He may just be lonely and wants to see your beautiful back yard😢
Could be but we'll pass on messing w/ this man. Best to let him be. Thanks for stopping by. 🌷
Great photography BTW......Whoever is behind the camera is getting better!
Thank you. Chip is at the camera. 🥰
Cute. A few months ago they were "feral" cats. Don't look so "feral" now. 😀 Still adorable, of course. Enjoy the rest of summer
Thank you, Jimmy. Just helping a creature in need. 😀🐱🐈⬛
Brownie sure is handsome in the sunlight.
He's turned up a good looking guy. Thank you for stopping by Alys. 😸🌻
Lived in Organ for 6 months back in 1970 in the old hotel while working on the fire protection out on the Radar Station many nights hearing foot traffic of illegals sneaking into the United States. Plenty of rattle snacks and translations
Thank you for sharing your story, SCleary. 😀🌻

How cute! I wanna play with kitty! Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed watching it until the end! I hope you have a happy day dear friend😻💕
Thank you, Kenn. He's a half-grown TNR feral kitty who is now a resident of our backyard. He has a bed made for him at our covered patio. He uses the bed now & then but he prefers to sleep under the oleander bushes during the day. He is too young to fend for himself. He is welcome in our home but he prefers outdoors for now. Thank you again for stopping by. 😺🌻
Brownie will probably never appreciate the great favor you have done for her (spaying), but she may warm up to both of you over time because of the daily care you give her...
Great news, Alys. She did warm up to us. Roselyn can scratch her head & back. It will be easier to apply a flea repellent bead at her back when her ears will completely heal. Thank you for stopping by. 😺🌷
Thanks for the new tour....Mama kitty might have a new litter. We used to do what you are doing. If the cats were on our property we would TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return). We would also feed them every evening before the raccoons came out. Every once in awhile a cat would elude us for awhile and new kittens would arrive. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Alys. We will definitely trap what we can. It is a hard life for ferals out there. We are a caretaker of one of the kittens. It returned to our backyard & Mama just left it. The kitten has a tipped ear & is spayed. We will care for the kitten but will try to trap Mama & any kittens. It's the humane thing to do. Thank you for sharing your experience. 😾🌷
I use epson salt and rabbit poop and my Early Girls are massive
Great to know. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌷
We put up a 6 ft privacy fence,, however, the neighbors have a two story house and still spy on me, but the fence helps somewhat.
A two story house in the neighboring property to yours would not be fixed by a fence from being spied on. Additional fencing from our side definitely helped our situation. Thank you for stopping by & sharing your story. 😀🌷
@2balikbayans-simplelivingn868 Yeah it is only a small bedroom size window but I have mostly privacy otherwise. Extra height would be vulnerable to the many windstorm we get.
@@Venndiagram7732 Thank you for sharing your story Venn. Hope you can resolve your situation. 🌷
I had a nasty family's member (late thirties, now 40) jump my 4 ft chain link and carve out branches of my desert rose plant, maybe as a gift for his mommy, who knows? It broke me a little to have that one plant "trimmed" so I can imagine your oleander bushes must have really bothered you.
Dang! What a family member. He should have just asked you for cuttings from your roses. Yes, the action of this neighbor bothered us. It was shocking to see what he had done, after having him as a neighbor for so long. We speculate that he is in the early stages of dementia because of his age. He is nearing 80. So far, no incidences has happened since we place the fence. He can cut branches as many as he wishes in the confines of his property but not reach over to totally wipe out the plants. Thank you for stopping by & sharing your story. 😀🌷
@@2balikbayans-simplelivingn868 Thank you guys for posting your how to on obtaining peace of mind.
My Black male cat passed over a year ago. He was soo cool. Black Cats are COOL! Are they petable at all? Man, I would to adopt that black one. LOL!
We can touch the heads of the kittens while feeding, but not Mama Cat. We got in touch w/ Animal Control in our town, & they will trap them all for rabbies vaccination & spay/neuter. One kitten was already trapped & will be taken care of. The kittens will be offerred for adoption in our Animal Shelter. Mama Cat is a feral & will be under the program of "Trap, Neuter, & Release". If she gets trapped, she will be released in our area (her territory) but she will be vaccinated & spayed. We volunteered to feed & shelter her in our backyard to the Animal Control department. Thank you for stopping by. 🐱🌻
The bird is sending out an alert. It is alarmed over the cats. And you said there is a bird feeder near by. Thats a setup for disaster for the birds.
LLOUL, the bird feeders are very high on the boughs of the pine tree. They haven't caught any birds. Also, Animal Control in our city has trapped one of the kittens to be vaccinated, spay/neutered to be rehomed. We keep a vigilant eye for signs of bird catching. We will remove the bird feeder if they catch any bird. Thank you for your feedback. 🐱🌻
Do u have coyotes around there? Why not take them into ur home 🏡 I hear a busy roadway nearby. Ferals dont have very long lives ☹️
We're in town, Phat so coyotes don't roam around in our vicinity. Animal Control Department does not recommend taking ferals into one's house. They will trap them to vaccinate & spay or neuter. The kittens (after vaccinations & spay or neuter) will be offerred for adoptions. Mama Cat (if trapped) will be vaccinated & spayed. She will be free to roam again in her territory under the "Trap, Neuter, & Release" program. Mama Cat is unapproachable. She hisses, snarl, & shows her fangs. She cannot be domesticated. Thank you for stopping by. 🐱🌻
Wow. Those are huge portions u are giving each of them. Very kind 🥰
They eat them all, Phat; healthy appetites. Thank you for stopping by. 🐱🌻
Love blacks cats. Very cute but now you need to take really good care of them. This ain't the USA.
What are you saying? She lives in New Mexico.
@@LLOUL542 those cats were in Mexico.
@@LLOUL542 whopps..I thought Mexico because that's where I live. They still need to be fixed.
@@judydyer Judy, New Mexico is in the U.S.A. We're between Texas & Arizona. 😸🌻
@@judydyer Animal Control in our city already trapped one of the kittens to be rabbies vaccinated & spay or neuteured. She/he will be assessed to be rehomed or will be released again, under the "Trap 'N Release" program (he/she will be returned) to probably our backyard. 😸
Enjoyed just watching you tend your plants. Hot summers here in Utah, too. I transplanted from Michigan to be near my two grown kids. Still haven’t learned to endure the heat.
It's definitely hot here, Judy. We drink a lot of ice water & our yard has two large Alfghan pine trees (one at the front & one at the back). The pine trees are adapted to the desert environment. The trees provide shade. Gardening is a great activity for us. Enjoy your kids. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌻
nice video ,thanks. would be a nice place to live .
Thank you, Sarurita. Las Cruces is affordable to live & a nice town. However, jobs are hard to come by presently, but a good place for retirees to live. Thank you again for stoppinb by. 😀🌻
Awesome video thanks ❤
Thank you, Nestor. 😀🐢🌷
your container garden is so lovely. I am in awe of your green thumb.
Thank you, Peggy. 😀🌷
The wire cutter, you said it was special- - can you say where you bought it? It worked so well. I’d like to know in case I need to make a fence like yours.
Judy, we bought the wire cutter at Home Depot. There are several brands that are offerred. I can't make out the brand of this wire cutter as it has rubbed off. I'm sure that the staff at Home Depot will be able to assist you in your selection. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌷
You are so sweet l wish you be my neighbour what a beautiful garden❤️👏
Thank you, Liz. 😀🌷

Yes, we love our fish aquariums. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🐟🐠
What a crime to cut down those beautiful oleanders! I hope they recover quickly. What gorgeous landscaping you have in your yard.
Thank you, Rita. The Oleanders have recovered & the fence has kept him from doing this extreme type of damage again. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌷
so adorable
He sure is. Thank you for stopping by. 🐢🌷

Thank you, Paul. 😀🍅🌱
I wonder if this guy knows that Oleander plants are poisonous to humans!
Ever considered moving to a rural location where there are no neighbours at all?
We did at one time. However, the real estate costs, taxes, & insurances are way overpriced. We will stay put for now. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌷
Just read oleanders are ex toxic and adults can die from their sap - even touching the leaves are dangerous to children and pregnant
Good luck with the Oleanders. Here in SoCal they are pretty much wiped out from disease over the past 20 years.
So very sorry to hear about the Oleanders in SoCal. We originally came from SoCal & flowers were so easy to grow back then. We came here for better jobs. The Oleanders, zinnias, & black-eyed Susans are doing well here. Hope SoCal's Oleanders will come back. Thank you for stopping by. 😀🌷
You have created a beautiful oasis - stunningly gorgeous with sounds only of birds chirping ... I trust you both have peace to enjoy.
Thank you, Hanna. 😀🌷
Beautiful fruit
Thank you, Olivia. 😃🍅🌱
I love the oleanders they make great privacy hedges. We did the same thing. We had to put up a fence also because our neighbors dog was pooping I. Our yard daily. Agreed tall fences make great neighbors. Our neighbor cut one of our trees down. We took him to court he had to pay us $5,000. Since it was a harvest tree and gave us shade. So we planted another tree and they haven’t talked to us since. The piece and quite has been great. But he knows if he cuts are oleander hedge down he will be paying for that. He is a real creep. When I am out I the yard he tries to peep thru the fence. Enjoy your paradise.
Love the added reed! Looks beautiful while the flowers are recovering ❤
The reed screen keeps the neighbor from peering in. The oleanders have fully recovered today. Thank you for stopping by. 🌷
You could rent a T-post driver, or buy one.
No need to now as fence is already done. Thank you for stopping by. 🌷
With the extreme fire danger around us because of the arid heat, we can all use as much rain as we can get. Ruidoso and Mescalero have forest fires right now but I believe they got some rain today. We are praying they get much more rain this week....we all need some cooler temperatures. Thanx for explaining why you are showering your garden during the day to cool your plants...
According to AccuWeather.com Ruidoso is suppose to get some rain about 10:30pm tonight, I sure hope so. Thats my 2nd play ground, very beautiful up there.
This videos make my heart melt …they are so natural and simple and the sounds of nature calm my mind.
It's wonderful to see nature & indeed so calming to watch them. Thank you for stopping by. 😃🐿🌿
Beautiful garden yall have!! I really love the cages you made. Thank you for sharing with us! Much ❤️ from Nashville TN.
Thank you, Christi. The cages keep the birds from munching the plants. Love Tennessee! 😀🌿🌞
Your neighbors hate plants
He bragged to us about taking the cuttings of the oleanders & planted them in his property. His oleanders plants are thriving & blooming just like ours. He wants attention as he has no one. We just ignore him. We believe that he is at dementia stage. It's best to avoid him. Thank you for stopping by. 🌷
