Night Race Demo - Mini Pace Car - Escort Challenger

A short 'night race' demo of my pace car system. Computer is driving the Mk 1 Mini as the pace car, I am trying to keep up with the Mk 1 Escort. This was over 10 laps but I have cut out the middle section. Note, the computer stops the Mini pace car at the end of race, I ran an extra lap.

Lazy Ace - lazy aerobatics - July 2024
Переглядів 5092 місяці тому
Here's my Lazy Ace being flown by friend Derek doing some lazy aerobatics. Built from plan, this is a Chuck Cunningham design from about 1977. There were three versions 62", 76" and 84", mine is 76", weighs 13lb 12oz and is powered by an ASP 130. I covered the entire model with Oratex, which, while quite pricey, is easy to use, very good quality and doesn't continually need re-shrinking. I went...

Finally, the flight video of my Cambria funfighter P-51 Mustang. Just a short video as they are rather small and rather fast, so quite difficult to capture. I opted for 'launch' with a dolly which works very well. Was hoping for a blue sky, but just how long can you wait.....

    Watched both videos. Nice. I'd move the gear back some to get rid of the bouncy landings. Always wanted one of these.

    Great to see this lovely model fly. I had a Superstar MK3 almost fifty years ago. It looked very similar to this beautiful model. Webra 60 and Futaba 6 radio. I too had access to an old WW2 airfield. Courtesy of a hole in the fence. lol

      Hi Geoffrey, I remember the Matador, I was going o build one as a 'radio affected' aka single channel model, but built a Veron Sky Skooter instead. The Matador actually has a larger wingspan than this model and much 'squarer' fin and tailplane but appreciate your suggestion. I will do a flight video at some point...

    I built a Super Lazy Ace, one of Chuck Cunningham's best designs. I built it kind of heavy, reinforced the wing and strut mounts, reinforced the firewall, and strengthened the tailplane. Then, I put on a 111 CC twin with a 27-inch prop. Wow, did that plane perform? At 45 lbs, it went be vertical and did huge circular loops. It was an amazing performing plane. I would recommend this plane build to anyone!! It was the 8 foot version.

    • @davids_model_flying
      @davids_model_flying 2 місяці тому

      Hi Michael, I use melamine board with two layers of cork tiles glued on top with impact adhesive. Don't like plasterboard as a building board, it's fragile and degrades with use.

    I’m happy to see someone building and not just buying a foam airplane. You have done excellent work sir. I have had a 76” lazy ace for 29 years now and it flys great. I have a super tiger 3250 glow on it and it performs really well. Hi. Sorry, I know I'm late, but could you inform about the thickness of the PETG sheet you have used ? I tried with a sheet of 0,5 mm PET (instead of PETG), but after 5 minutes in the ovet it completely change from perfectly transparent into fully matt white. Probably the "G" is very important !!
