Great light air drill Coach Ryan!
Love it. Was this for college recruiting?
How did you attach the camera?
You will never forget this fun
Will be doing this next summer
Worth the hypothermia
top tier experience 🙌
I believe that the OzGoose is a larger version of the Opti boat...
Nice wind! Be lucky if we get half that tomorrow...
This kid sails faster in irons then I can on a beam reach.
The Americas Cup will be back in the USA in no time!!!!
looks like they are having fun while learning
the flying tomato :) my opti used to be called rad toad
Nice video!
The person falling in was hilarious
The glass😌😌
Man rich people get all the best stuff.
nice sails, my sailing clubs sails are are old crap, except the laser, some of those are okay. Wish we had neato sails like these. Nice racing, looks fun
Geeze I remember these little floating boxes from when I was a kid, 52 years ago. Sailed a Dabchick before Oppies came on the scene in South Africa.
Those Dabchick sailboats are very cool. Doesn’t fill like a bathtub the way an opti does capsized!
No better feeling
After 8 years of sailing I haven’t even thought of doing that. Looks so fun
Great practice of boat handling too!
Are s-turns always the preferred downwind strategy in all conditions?
Good
The crew is on it
Choppy…?
Nice!
Noce
nice man great for you ! 🤘 (Just work on Transitions)
Good gybe Slightly over rolled
Been there, Done that. Fun thing to Sail.😊
420’s are soooo much better
Rule 42
In lasers it's allowed because you can heel the boat to facilitate steering.
do you mind me asking (from a beginner laser sailors point of view) how does the death roll happen and how can you prevent it? do you have any tips?
Going downwind, when you sail by-the-lee. If ur main is to far out u can capsize. Or with a gust, sometimes the sailor stays seated in the same place like in de vid. There are really easy ways to avoid capsizing. 1 main sheet in, 2 body into the boat (don’t just fall with ur boat like the guy in de vid) 3 u do this in advance, bit of tension on ur fang. If u have more tension going downwind the boat is a bit calmer and rolls a bit less.
You can also move your hand down on the stick to reduce the movement of the tiller
Also in close reach to prevent heeling and tipping let out sail
Cool demonstration
Looks like an awesome place to sail!
what do you do when you see a wind line?
Wind lines = higher velocity so I’m trying to get to them and stay in them. They often come with a change of angle as well so I change my direction as necessary to maximize my Velocity Made Good
Wow I’ve never tired an opti before, they look super fun tho
Nice start
Yas go girls this reminds me of me and my crew
Nice I wish my roll tacks we’re that good 😂
In the first clip, sheeting is reversed. Sheet in to turn up, sheet out to turn down
Drone shot by @keyframeaerial
This is unbelievable! He looks like he has good control over that boat.
Too much rolleth f'r thy owneth good sir Andrew
Your body movement initiating the roll looks really good, I think just waiting for the sail to luff more will help make your racks really good
i like the amount of heal you get before the gybes
The tacks look like your getting good speed out of them but it seems like on a few you might have a bit too much tiller but it's hard to tell
Not enough back stay
something i do to help me flatten is like clear the sheet (put 3ft or more of sheet on the deck in front of you) before i tack so when i tack i have plenty to sheet out and it’s not tangled
I like the sheet flicking thing but you could probably be getting as much roll as I did at 30 seconds
It's hard to tell with apparent wind and everything but the sail seems to have trouble filling coming out of some of the gybes In the last one it looks like you could have held on to the sheet
