Diving Hornby Island
Переглядів 2503 роки тому
Diving on Vancouver Island is amazing and Hornby Island was a wild ride. The marine life was incredible - huge Lingcod, beautiful Puget Sound King Crab, lots of beautiful Rockfish and, of course, sea lions. Can't wait for my next trip out to Vancouver Island to see more of this amazing underwater world. Filmed and editted by: Kolin Hansen (Getting Salty) Dive Buddies: Taylor & Dana
Swimming Lessons From a Harbour Seal

While completing our safety stop an incredibly playful harbour seal decided to join us - Making a boring 3 minute safety stop turn into a amazing and fun 30 minute safety stop. This encounter was absolutely incredible and a moment I wont soon forget.
Shimmering Sea

Diving into the cold and dark of The Pacific Northwest can be intimidating, but then you see the wonders that exist in these emerald waters. As we descended into the dark we noticed it being quite a bit darker than normal. Then we saw that the darkness was not caused by sediment and algae - instead this was a shadow cast from one of the largest herring bait ball I have ever seen.
Grunt Sculpin Adventure

One of the cutest fish in our local Pacific Northwest Waters, The Grunt Sculpin! These little guys are very cute, with a huge head covering about 60% of their body. They also have a long snout, beautiful patterns and little fins that they hop around on, while letting out little grunts. Always a pleasure finding one of these little critters on any dive! You can find Regular size and Mini sticker...

Scuba Diving at Kelvin Grove

Kelvin Grove dive site is back open! This site is a local diving gem, giving home to an incredibly wide variety of life. GPO's, wolf eels, jellies and giant nudibranch are a common sight to see here. Let alone a multitude of rockfish species, this being a rockfish conservations site. I always seem to encounter something new here, be it on the deep wall or in the mossy kelp shallows. just bought dual 8000 with domes...i'm so excited bro!
This is so soothing to watch
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you like it! 😁😁
I think that skate is my favorite, such a cool experience to see that and such a great capture too!
Right?! such a crazy moment. It all happened way too fast hahaha
Terrific shot, what video light did you use?
Thank you so much for watching! I filmed almost all of this footage with a pair of the Kraken Sports Hydra 18,000lm WRGBU lights. I have a review video on my channel, if you want to check them out.
Damn, that was awesome, lots of familiar faces, places, and whatever that creature was 34 seconds in, it moved so gracefully through the water! Love the colors and detail too.
Thank you so much! Stoked that you like it! That creature at 34sec is pretty common out in our waters. You can almost always find him in the water 😂😂
Amazing as always. Cheers
Thank you so much for watching!! 🙌🙌
Fantastic footage! With the temperature of the water, I imagine you were wearing a drysuit! I'm curious what you use to treat your video footage. Davinci Resolve? Adobe Premiere Pro? Something else?
Drysuit all the way! Thick undergarments and even heated vest for those long winter night dives hahaha. I edit all my footage with DaVinci Resolve. I’ve tried Premier and Final Cut but I’ve found colour editing to be far superior in DaVinci.
Great work KOLIN!
I'm pumped you liked it!
You've come a long way and you've always been great 🤿🐙
Ha! I forgot I even made this video. Yeah the videos have for sure gotten a little better haha. I think I filmed this on the original GoPro hero 1 😅
Lovin your footage. 🐙🐟🦀 I can't wait to dive together again.
Thanks Mark!! Me neither. Hopefully in your neck of the woods!
The color and clarity you capture in all your footage is insane 🤯 Also, the swimming skate is so badass, and love the lions mane at the end. 👏
Thanks Bronson!! I was super lucky with the skate haha if I didn’t act fast I would have missed it entirely haha
Incredible shots ❤❤ well done
Thank you so much Filipe!! Can’t wait for November, Socorro is going to be wild!
Amazing footage Kolin!
Thanks John! I’m stoked you liked it! I’m looking forward to that “urchin” dive in a month haha
What kind of shark is it at 4:55
All Caribbean reef sharks I believe 😁 I really need to learn more about tropical diving and not just the pnw hahaha
@gettingsalty if ya need a sherpa, dive buddy, and stuntman videographer, I'm your guy.
Hey, do you have challenges to transport those batteries with airplane? As those batteries capacity is 144 Wh each, which is above the international battery capacity standard that we can bring into cabin
Hi Nathan, thank you for watching! I have yet to have any major issues traveling with these lights. However, this is something to definitely keep in mind. I think alot of the time it really depends on the tsa agent working that day 😅
Have you found that the lights need filters
Hi Bruce, that is definitely up for debate. Light filters can definitely help, especially in the blue tropical waters however filters reduce the amount of light power. Most times using light filters also requires a red filter on the lens aswell to combat the overly blue influence. Which further reduces the amount of light hitting the sensor of your camera. Personally, I prefer to not use filters and to do any colour adjustments in post.
Thank you. Can i have a link for those floats. Thank you. Cheers from Maldives
