Welcome to California Survival, an alternative way of living. I'm your host Josh.
In the land known for Hollywood, many people have been priced off the map and out of home ownership. There is a better way however, if your willing to work at it almost every day.
Living closer to nature and in balance with it enables one to slow down the pace of their life and ensure quality time with others as well as peace of mind. While nothing is easy off grid, if it be hauling water in or trash out or the household commodities we take for granted every day; the time taken is well worth it. Working for yourself to build the dream and seeing the results happen in real time is the most rewarding feeling that I know.

I attempted to rescue a pigeon but leaving it unattended one night resulted in it being eaten. Aside from that I now have one window and outside wall buttoned up. With every success is another issue to tackle, the newest one being a lack of adequate water pressure. I have some but not quite enough.

The Eccotemp L10 tankless water heater has changed my reality for the better. I remember times during construction driving 30 mins away to a relative just for a shower but not anymore! Fellow UA-camrs in Alaska report good things after multiple years of use, so far so good with me. If you have adequate pressure you may not need the water pump.

Great set up you should come on over here to Michigan and try that off grid living especially taking a shower outside in the dead of winter when it gets 25 below zero we have a lot of off grid people living here in Michigan but they use streams to wash their clothes the water and they heat it up with wood no generator use candles and oil lamps that’s off grid, my friend using everything that God gave us on this earth, but everybody has their own way😊

I have the Gore Tex version of these. No vent holes on side. Do u think my feet would sweat more in the Gore Tex version?
You should definitely put cement board behind your heater. It gets very hot behind it and it can a major safety issue with it near wood.

I do not think so. In hindsight I think that the foam core sole is a weak point and I'd go with a different kind of combat boot. I just picked up the old style desert boot from the gulf war era and I'm digging them.

What part of California are you in?
I'm actually about to do something similar 2005 Coleman kind of small but it works out when you're a small dude. Are you still doing this bro? Do you have any advice on staying warm in the winter? I've heard a lot of people say hang up blankets and reflectix, but I'm worried that this is going to be a terrible idea. Would have loved to have had a hard side camper but my minivan can't pull that much and everything's kind of expensive right now..
Im still in the camper yes. Blankets and reflective material would work but I never did that. Honestly on the coldest of nights i just run a generator with a heater until im ready for bed and have a few very thick blankets. If extremely cold then ill throw sleeping bags on top of those. In Yosemite while living in a tent cabin we hung up blankets and it helped.

@@CJCroen1393 hahah clearly you haven't seen my actual house in the other videos. I found my game for less then $100 and had to drive like 2-3 hours to get it. If you check various sources such as facebook marketplace, craigslist, offer up, secondhand game stores and vendors at the swap meet you can find one. If in socal, I seen a vendor at the chino swap meet with a gold for $90
@@californiasurvival8271 You act like I haven't checked those. Authentic copies are either sold out or cost 200+ dollars, I've checked. Fake ones are plenty cheap but they crap out after playing for like, a day, so they're worthless. Driving for 2-3 hours/searching for a copy in-person isn't an option nowadays for obvious reasons, and even then, I can't always be 100% sure I won't be scammed, which knowing my luck I will be. I highly doubt you spent _only_ 100 on an authentic copy. While I'm dirt poor, I know from my frantic searching that 100 is _low_ for a genuine copy of HGSS--then again, it's also WAY more plausible than the people saying they got it for like, $80 (yeah, no. Authentic HGSS copies ALWAYS go for the triple to quadruple digits; anything lower than that is fake). I'm skeptical of your 90 dollar claim too. That's WAY too low for a copy of this game, unless of course the copy is fake. Which in this case it probably is.
