I agree with you how frustrating it has been the past five years. It's not surprising that John Henry skipped the event. The most iconic player this century, David Ortiz never had a contact larger than 5 years, so the precedence has always been there regarding large contracts. Let's be honest. Long, expensive contracts have not been worth it for any team. I.E. Stanton, Trout, or David Price. They age horribly. That said, it shouldn't be overlooked the damage that is being done by ownership I regards to the lack of free agent signings to keep competitive even during a rebuild. I don't know if any marquee free agents will ever look at this ownership and believe that they're doing everything they can to win each year. I get that we're basically gambling on the young core, three or four of which are still a year or two away from debuting. Even if one of them proves to be a generational talent, they have proven they're not willing to pay a huge price to keep them. (See Mookie Betts) I'm going to not put any expectations on this or any future seasons, but I hope to see more development from the young guys we do have, like Duran, Casas, Bello, and hopefully Abreau or Raffaela. Liverpool fans have not been happy with Henry either. He is known for being cheap. Look at a few months ago when they couldn’t compete with Chelsea for Caicedo and Lavia. As for the Mbappe reports, it’s just silly. Any club in the world would take Mbappe if he was willing to join, regardless of the posting fee or salary . He brings in sooooo much revenue, It’s Ohtani X 10. But they aren’t getting him and everyone knows it. It’s either Real Madrid or stay at PSG. I do believe that Liverpools big run the last 5-6 years has caused Fenway to lose interest in the Red Sox. But it’s not related to money. They made a fortune off Liverpool.
