Welcome back to our channel. Life with the bridges.
We are the bridge family trying to get the most out of this rat race we all call life.
In September 2021 we found out our dreams had come true. We were expecting a new addition ….to the Bridge family.
We spent the next 9 months, like any normal parents would, preparing our life for the arrival of our little boy.
On the 11th of may 2022, at 11:11pm we were bless with the birth of our son. HE WAS PERFECT. We instantly felt love like we had never experienced and our family of 4 we always dreamed of. Was finally complete.
We had the most magical first 8 months with Teddy experiencing all that life had to offer. UNTIL on the 24 of feb 2023 he got diagnosed with high risk AML Leukaemia.
We spent 6 months (184 days to be exact) at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He endured 2 rounds of chemotherapy and a full bone marrow transplant in hope that it would save our son's life.
We documented every part of his journey on this channel to raise awareness and give childhood cancer the exposure it deserves.
After riding the hellish and unpredictable storm Teddy made it to the end of his treatment and RANG. THAT BELL!
You are joining us now in our next chapter of this journey at home at bridge HQ, as we try to rebuild our life and continue to spread awareness about what it’s like to have a child post cancer and transplant in hope that this second chance at life we have been given. IS FOREVER.
So if you’re interested in following our journey don’t forget to like our videos, subscribe to our channel and hit that notification bell as we document our life as the Bridge family.
Our perspective and what we want from life when spending 6 months in hospital fighting for your child’s life, let’s just say has changed a little.
All though myself and Katie have been lucky enough to travel the world far and wide in the past and now are slightly restricted for now due to Teddys recovery. This doesn’t mean to can’t dream, explore and go on adventures from our doorstep to show our son what life has to offer.
TIME is something that none of us have control over and let me tell you. It isn’t on our side. I don’t have time. We don’t have time and you don’t have time. Yes I said it. YOU. DON'T. HAVE. TIME.
So if there is one message we would like to spread to all of our community here on our channel. It’s live for today as tomorrow is never promised.
We are going to breathe deep, dream big, travel wide step out our comfort zone and go and grab life with both hands and make the most out of what ever time we have left on this earth. AND WE are taking you along with us. So buckle up as LIFE. WERE COMING FOR YOU.
We have also been updating daily on our instagram accounts which are mentioned below:
@scottdanielbridge
@katexbridge
Please feel free to ask any questions regarding Teddy's diagnosis in the comments and we will try and get back to them as soon as we can. We appreciate everyones messages and support more than you would ever know!

    When I was 9 years old our landlord lived downstairs. She was popping popcorn and the grease flew out of the pan and caught her curtains on fire. I was actually in the bathtub when all the commotion started. I could see smoke coming up through the floors and we had the hardest time getting my mom and our 2 dogs out of the apartment. She was in shock and she was petrified to walk past the entry door to the landlords apartment because by then her place was fully in golfed inflames. Our whole family was separated and were living apart for months afterwards. We lost our two dogs😢 Fire is nothing to mess with. So happy no real damage was done to your home 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    I would if at all possible change the stove to one with the knobs on the top . My daughter had a fire with one of her daughters leaving her back pack on the stove , another child turned a knob , and in no time the bag was on fire . Luckily they discovered it quite quickly . But have removed all the knobs and only put them on when in use , until they can buy a stove with knobs on the back ! I would train Teddy to run out of the house FIRST before he finds you . Have a meeting place outside . I had a small frying pan fire one morning . My daughter shouted fire , her and her sisters immediately walked out of the house , they did just the right thing . E en in their pjs !

    I am terrified of house fires. When I was young I lost 3 family members in a house fire. There was my 2 cousins (adults) and their 3 children in the house. The kids found some matches, was playing with them and accidentally lit the bed on fire. It was a devastating fire. It ended up taking the lives of the mother and father and the youngest child. The other 2 children suffered major burns and physiological and depression the rest of their lives. They are also gone now. One of them took his on life and then one passed away from a catastrophic heart attack. The whole family was devastated 😢

    I would get rid of the gas hob and buy an induction hob because they don't start heating up plans unless they have a magnetic connect with a saucepan which I would say is the best thing to have when you have young kids in the house

    When I was 11 years old my nana had started boiling soup bones to help with meals. Only problem was we lived in a large apartment above my parents cafe in Blackpool. Nana had wandered off forgetting what she had started, my mom came upstairs to find the pot had burst into flames and she had to get a damp towel to smother the flames. Our dog was in the dining room next to the kitchen every time, 3 times my nana did this, and 3 times I was upstairs in my bedroom where I couldn’t escape from. I was in the south west corner of our apartment, and the kitchen was in the north east, it would have been too late to escape for me because the interior stairs were close by the kitchen. My mom was livid, and nana wasn’t allowed to cook anymore! I was only told this recently.

    I'm so glad that you all are safe and nothing serious happened.. Toddlers are so inquisitive.. My daughter was 3 and I turned my back for a second and she touched the burner on the electric stove..this was the older stove with the burners sticking up.. Just that short of time burned her hand bad.. I ran her hand under water and then ran her to ER I was right next to her..the burner was turned off but still hot.. I went out and bought covers for the burners.. My son Ryan loved to show me that he could get outlet covers off..lol So I put stuff in front of outlets..our children are our lives..but they do wear us out 😂😂

    Our duplex went up in a blaze when our renter smoked a cigarette . They threw a cigarette butt in a container and wind blew it over and it caught their old couch under the carport and a blaze of fire went into the vent into the attic and it was a lose. Still working to get the apartment back in shape. Took down to the studs. My son lives in the attached apartment and the firemen saved it. Hallelujah for that. It's so scary.

    Hi, I live in Apartments in an upstairs unit. The neighbor downstairs’ came pounding on my door to say that their kitchen was on fire, I ran next door to the other unit (we are in a unit of 4) as the neighbor below me ran to the other unit down stairs. We all got out safely, but they lost a lot and we got major smoke damage. What a mess. All because they didn’t keep up on the smoke detector battery change every few months or so. Please don’t forget to maintain your smoke detectors if you have any and get smoke detectors if you don’t have any. This can be life saving. Take care everyone and be safe!

    My one nephew and his twin brother decided to set off a play airplane that could fly with gasoline. When the gas was lit, the fumes from the gas lit both of his legs on fire. 3rd degree burns on almost half of his body at 12. He was life flighted out to a pediatric burn unit for months suffering from surgeries, many skin grafts and scrubbings of the necrotic skin tissue. He will forever carry the massive leg scars all over his legs. As an adult he trained and became a paramedic, ambulance driver and firefighter. Bless him, I am so proud of his tenacity!

    Fire is a scary word for everyone! Our parents were rarely home due to dad working two jobs and mom in hospitals. When my older pyro brother was a teenager, he thought making fires were very fascinating until the day in his bedroom trashcan got way out of hand. I heard all of this running and scurrying about and came out of my bedroom. He was so very lucky it was a metal, not plastic trashcan, that nothing was electrical or chemical causing the fire, so plain water took care of the high and raging fire! The ceiling was black from the smoke, and smell lingered long enough for dad to settle things on his bottom when he came home from work!

  • @Discoverdisableddestinations

    When I was a teenager myself and my boyfriend at the time, made chips in a pan on the stove in his farmhouse, his parents were out and we stupidly left it for a short while, it over spilled and everything around it was on fire, we were not sure what to do and panicked and was about to throw water on the chip pan, when a newigbour came in shouting NO, we found the fire extinguisher and started putting it out when the fire brigade came, it really frightened us, at how quickly it happened, I'm in a wheelchair now and wouldn't be able to get out quick, I really should have one of these,, I'm so glad you are all OK. Love watching your videos, it's the highlight for me twice a week, Teddy is so clever. Lyn Xx

    The scariest experience I had with fire was with a gas oven. I went to light the pilot light on the oven to bake cookies with my little foster brother. It didn't light right. I quickly turned off the oven but all of a sudden it made a loud explosion noise and packing blew out on fire. It quickly smoldered out. The smell was awful but we were okay accept it threw my foster brother into a asthma attack. It was a scary moment.

    This is my biggest fear. (In Canada) there should be a smoke detector on every floor. If you do have a separate co detector it should be closer to the floor, but the smoke detector should be at the top . If combined, then they are usually at the top, exactly as you showed. Every home should also have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen and by sources of fires. There should be an evacuation plan as well. I am so grateful that you were home before anything bad happened.

    Thankful you all are safe. Several years ago some one set my Grandmas house on fire at the time she was watching three of my cousins and someone lite her house on fire, she didn't have a fire alarm either. By the time the fire fighters got to her home it was totally engulfed with flames, tbey tried their best to rescue them all but it was to far gone and we lost my Grandma and my 3 cousins. This was extremely devistating to our whole family. The Fire Inspector and Police Detectives never found out who started the fire. This has forever changed our lifes. If my Grandma would have had a fire alarm it would have alerted my Grandma before the fire was out of control. This is an example of how fast fire can spread and how impotant it is to have a fire alarm. Again I'm so thankful you all are okay. Bless you and your family. 💙❤💚

    This didn’t happen to me, but my sister. She had to work a night shift and her 15 year old daughter was babysitting her 2 year old. My niece said that something woke her up, she went to the kitchen area and the entire wall was on fire. She had enough presents of mind to go get the 2 year old, wrap blankets around them and ran across the street to get them to call. The house and contents were a total loss, but the kids made it out and my sister never accepted a night shift again I need to add that I’m not in need of smoke detectors, I just replaced all of mine as they reached the ten year limit

    I taught my great nephew about how to Stop -drop - and roll . I also taught him how to shelter from a storm. Thank God all is safe ! You can look into a system that locks the knobs on your stove to prevent a child from turning them.
