Newbie here, what’s the reasoning for not taping all the way around the blade of the stick? This guy only taped forehand side of the blade. I know it can be based on preference, but wondering if there’s any other reason why someone would tape their stick like that?

You forgot one thing. Don’t ever look at the head of a player. If the shooter is moving his head trying to fool you just look at their waist. It will help a lot because it makes you know where if the shooter is going to make a move.
