    For anyone trying this, you can NOT get a wrench on the left side downstream (the one in the cat) that easy. I haven't done mine yet but it looks very much like you either have to remove the cats (undesirable) or have a crowfoot o2 tool. I've looked from every angle and while you can get a wrench on it, there's no purchase for your hand, and no room to get enough torque to break them loose.

    I’m trying to connect a obd2 elm327 to my 96 impala and i’m using torque app but it’s not working the lights on the obd2 device are working and the app is connected to the device but it says it can’t connect to the ECU. Any suggestions

    Pre post upstream downstream before after - My diagnostic device says "behind" cat... 🤡

    • @thepacketnarc7634
      @thepacketnarc7634 Рік тому

      Streams flow from source to destination. Think of exhaust like water. It flows from the head to the tailpipe. So 'up stream' is considered against the current or up near the head, and downstream is considering toward the destination or tailpipe. In this case, downstream is 'after the catalytic' (or in the cat, in most cases.) and upstream is the one right after the collector of the header.

    Total waste of money, all you have to do is spray it with a MAF cleaner and it should last the life of the car. People should learn to clean the MAF at each sit filter cleaner. Replace the security screws with regular screws for ease or removal next time

    My 1995 Buick Roadmaster is having some low idle issues and sometimes it dies when at a stoplight or shifting from drive to reverse. The check engine light comes on when it stumbles from a normal idle to about 400 rpm. It goes away after I drive it at normal street speeds for a couple minutes. I've been told that the issue could be my throttle position sensor. Also the transmission doesn't shift out of first until I let off the throttle completely and reengage it slowly, neither does it downshift smoothly. Could this all be the cause of my TPS?

    • @davidbeard77
      @davidbeard77 4 місяці тому

      Did you ever solve the issue? I also have a 95 Roadmaster with similar issues. In gear and at a stoplight it will idle real low, and sometimes dies. Runs perfectly smooth as long as I'm moving, and it's also usually fine when it's in park. I'm new to DIY car stuff and I'm trying to get good at diagnosing things instead of just throwing parts at the car lol

      Could be fuel. Have you ever replaced your fuel filter? Check for spark. First check the plugs, then inspect your wires to see if they are rubbing on anything or arching. Have you replaced your opti spark cap? Those are the main things to check. Did you have a code pop up? If so, what is it?

    Thanks for posting this. I tried to replace mine yesterday, but couldn't break loose one of the sensors. Questions, you mentioned you have aftermarket exhaust but your exhaust looks exactly like mine. 2nd, after cat sensor appears to screw into the cat itself? Location being closer to the centerline of the car. Pre cat sensors are closer to the tires and rear fenders? Last question? 2 sensors or 4 on your car? I have 4. 2 pre and 2 after. Thank you.

      Ed Thayres ......I’ve got a 997 on 05 plate basically same setup and my eml came on fault code P0056 which is bank side 2 off side post sensor gone but from what I’ve been told always change the pair as in pre and post sensors as above video black and blue cables. Was hoping I can do it without taken bumper off as video shows this is possible which is a winner.....I’m just hoping the old sensors don’t strip the thread🤦‍♂️

    • @thepacketnarc7634

      @@mikefranky I don't know that it's truly possible. I think the less risky and probably better approach is go ahead and yank the bumper. It may just be less headache in the long wrong as well.

    Ok so last Saturday I got my car to start. I ran it for 45 minutes the next day was Sunday and the car wouldn't start..so I started more investigation and I found I had 2 vacuum hoses that I could actually see threw.. so I drove to parts store got everything I needed and replaced the 2 vacuum lines but the car wouldn't start.. Wednesday evening I get home and I go ahead and replace the Throttle Positioning Sensor and the Idle Air control sensor... still nothing.. I had already replaced the temperature sensor that goes into the waterpump.. I'm so confused about all of this... can you tell what the sensor is that sets on top of motor on the passenger side between the intake and the valve cover.. I don't know what this sensor is called but this sensor has the vacuum lines that I replaced that go to the front side of the Throttle Body... this is so crazy because the car ran great on Saturday with very cracked vacuum lines and Sunday it won't start with good vacuum lines... I'm going crazy....

      Sensor on the passenger side is the evac system. Really wouldn't do ouch for the car not starting. The RPMs is via an app called torque pro. I use a BAFX obd2 device. On the app you can customize what info is shown. Really nice app for the money.
