While I don't have exact dimensions given that the Allegheny has a 6 wheel trailing truck I suspect that it's firebox is much larger. But horsepower doesn't really matter as tractive effort is a lot more important than horsepower itself when it comes to locomotives. The Yellowstone from what I can tell had more tractive effort than an Allegheny and could on paper haul more than the Allegheny despite having less horsepower produced. I mean heck the PRR Q2 Duplex produced somewhere around 8000 horsepower and really didn't pull much more than their 2-10-4 as an example though it did have much bigger drivers to

@@ALCO-C855-fan So i would but the S1 suffered a rear gear failure last year and hasn't gotten fixed yet. Basically only one set of drivers works. Did you find my other video with the S1.

So I've never polished it though it was a display model for most of its life so I don't know what the previous owner may or may not have done to it. I do wish I could be of more help and thank you for the compliment on the model. I could ask some of the guys at the museum f they use anything.

Yeah I really like this one and it runs really nice for its age.

Yeah it was K line and the spot light car stopped spinning not to long after the vide was done. The spring was weak and this was brand new out of the box. My dad got it fixed for now but still was sad it did that. The Pennsy Coaches on the middle loop were also K-line coaches.

Thank you it's not an easy model to find and I think they made Les than 100 of this particular run so yeah pretty rare. It definitely gets lots of looks and questions as to what it is.

Oh but that is such a small train lol. My brother has WAY more ore cars in his collection. It's the tip of the iceberg. Needless to say he likes them very much.

@@PennsyPappas as a DMIR lover, can I pretty please have some. But seriously though, I’ve been looking everywhere to find ore cars that I can add to my existing 6 ore cars. I have 2 DMIR and 4 Soo line. I’m trying to model parts of the Mesabe but with how high priced and rare the DMIR ore cars are, I don’t think I’ll be able to. Plus I don’t even have a DMIR engine because nobody makes them.

@@NashRailfan My brother has been buying them for quite a long time and has bought them at the older prices or has gone to local train flea markets so if you can give them a try to find some. As for DMIR engines, Bachmann painted their old 2-10-2 in DMIR paint scheme, and I even have old atlas made diesels in that paint scheme. They're out there but I agree either hard to find or expensive.

@@NashRailfan I have some ore cars but my collection pales in any comparison to my brothers. Our longest train that we did was 242 ore cars back at in 2017 and I think that video is still on UA-cam.

We have like 40 someinch some curves I think I have other videos on my channel showing the layout but I donhave another video I'll post that walks around it at this past show. But our curves can handle basically anything we throw at it.

@@alleghenyshenangorr2017 You're welcome and HO is actually my bread and butter scale. I've only been doing O scale for 1.5 years where as HO I've been doing for 25 years. I just don't have a home layout sadly but Train shows give me a chance to run super long trains. The trains you saw belong to me and my older brother.

Essentially it was really, the streamliner era went into the 40s and the Pinnacle of steam technology was building during these years. Shortly there after it was the transition era and the streamers were gone but whether it be steam or diesels from that time the era for flashy decorative trains ended during this time and slowly got simplied till it was no more. It's cool you and your dad remembered something so special from that time as it's something precious to cherish for your whole life.

It was streamlined in 1936 and it was shortly there after Lionel came out with this model

I didn't even know there was a steam days event. I did look it up and it looks like a lot of fun but alas this weekend we're not available as we have prior commitments with relatives. Thanks for the heads up though it's much appreciated.

Well no don't have all the answers but it could've been that either it did happen and there's little to nomproof it did or that it never happened because it's possible that the combined weight of the train at the time was actually too much for a hudson. Hence why the Milwaukee S class engines or diesels ended up pulling them. And since none were preserved it will never happen sadly not to memtion most mainline steam engines have to be at least a 4-8-4 it seems to be running to make it worthwhile to get them running. It would certainly be cool and could be done in modeling form for sure. Which yeah it's not the real thing but it's close enough and that's all that matters I think. We could though we've never really put sound in ourselves before. We're usually happy with the sound that comes with an engine. Plus what's nice about this sound is that its not too loud, which in a building like that full of people tends to be better. Especially since not everyone likes the louder sound. But thank you for the suggestion we'll keep it in mind.

So glad you liked them, they're a unique piece of railroad history that not to many people know about.

That paddle wheel actually works to, we bus don't use it as often because if it ever broke it wouldn't be super easy to fix. So it's used on specific occasions but it's fun to watch it turn. I'm glad you enjoyed the trains, most of the ones running were my own personal ones.

That was a unique loco for sure. Designed in Ft Wayne for the PY&A branch hauling ore south from Asthtabula,OH to Warren, Youngstown, OH and Pittsburg, PA and coal back to the lake. True drag freights only capable of about 35mph.

I do not have 20th century limited. I'm more of a pennsy guy than I am an NYC guy, plus I have yet to see any of the coaches for sale yet. I think I've seen the Dreyfuss Hudson's for sale but without coaches not reply worth getting. I sadly may never get the mercury coaches for my mercury as they seem to be almost unobtanium. Maybe someday I'll get the 20th century limited but for now it alludes me.
