      This particular one I got about 5 years ago on Amazon and it was $350 at the time because there weren't many options available back then. But I even though it works great I wouldn't recommend it now because when I search "mini portable bluetooth barcode scanner" on Amazon there are a whole bunch under $100 that I'm sure do exactly the same job if not better. I haven't researched them since the one I have has lasted so long and was a lot for me to buy then I'll be trying to keep it going for the rest of my life now 😆

    Just sold a photograph of a beached shipwreck, not sure off the top of my head without looking on the ships name, but it was just a small 5x3 photo for $200, don't sleep on paper goods people. I've sold plenty for over $500 as well, it's nuts.

      That’s amazing! Was there anything on it to identify the year or location? I’ve had some photos where they seem around 100 years old but I couldn’t figure out the decade. There’s a big market for vintage ephemera especially if you can find an interesting story behind the item.

    • @AlexButler-ry3hj
      @AlexButler-ry3hj 18 днів тому

      @realwildgoods the name of the ship,and the location was on it. I was able to use Google and quickly figure out the year the shipped washed up, I priced it at 299.95 in February, slowly lowered it until I got an offer this morning of 200 even. Considering I'm getting more 10 dollar sales than anything lately that really helped. I purchased a massive lot of photos off of an ebay seller at the start of the year for 420ish dollars all in. Even after it having gone through the global shipping program or whatever they're calling it now, having about 700ish photos stolen during the repack, I ended up with some amazing stuff, it's not even close to all listed. I did the math this morning after that sale to see where I was at with profit, I was shocked to see it come out to $4172.93 with another thousand or so already listed from the lot, and a few thousand to still go with some real gems. I said it on one of your other videos, I love lettermail and I try to build my business around lettermail mostly, however I have about 3000 watches to go through still lol, so alot of those won't be able to go lettermail unfortunately. I would so recommend ephemera selling to EVERYONE who loves the history, it becomes more fun than a game and when you learn it and learn it well, you can buy stuff straight off of ebay to resell once again. Then if you're fortunate to be able to have your mail delivery person pick your mail up at your door you won't have to do much more than, list, pack and figure out your drivers timing so you don't have to have your packages outdoors too long. If you don't hoarde it (Guilty) the stuff you have listed could fit in a very small space so it is also good for people with limited space. I'm rambling at this point lol, definitely a long winded answer.

    I think one of the problems with buyers not being aware of details is that so many are buying from their phones and just get a thumbnail of an item. 'Okay, cheapest price. Bang.'.

      @realwildgoods 22 дні тому

      Yeah definitely can understand from the buyer’s point of view. I’ve seen a lot of sellers put acres of paragraphs in the description with various rules & regulations etc so that’s why eBay have it so you have to click & expand the description if you want to read that part. Ah well it’s all good, just part of the eBay game!

    I love anything that i can ship lettermail, media, postcards, photos, paper in general. Trading cards, pogs/slammers, etc. That low shipping cost is appealing to buyers. Unironically enough, i have more people buying media from the states which costs them 8 dollars shipping, so not sure I understand. Oh well, money is money.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods 26 днів тому

      Yeah I switched to as many smaller/flatter/lighter things as possible a few years back when Amazon changed the rules all of a sudden and implemented storage limits on everyone. So that forced into going more in on eBay and lettermail was the way to go! Do you offer free shipping for those items?

    • @AlexButler-ry3hj
      @AlexButler-ry3hj 20 днів тому

      @realwildgoods Sorry for the late reply, no I charge 3.95 shipping in both canada and the us on paper items, trading cards, etc. Anything that's not technically allowed to be shipped lettermail to the states usually requires tracked packet, but I'll slip stuff like patches and other very thin items in there anyways. I tried the free shipping route, and honestly found that my sales dropped, the worst part was I went into it thinking that I was going to offer nothing but free shipping going forwards and increased all of my prices to entail that. After awhile i decided that was a poor decision on my part and had to spend the time to readjust all of my listings again. In my experience most buyers know theirs going to be some shipping entailed in the buying of items and at 3.95 canadian it's really not bad, the states pay us even less. I sell way more to the states then canada.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods 20 днів тому

      @@AlexButler-ry3hj Yeah for the States, I've had it a couple of times we're we're shipping a single item of paper via lettermail, but we include a piece of card to keep it flat and a piece of saran wrap around to keep it dry and they've sent it back as not allowed. I think randomly someone just decides to try and do their job a little too well and send a message that they're in charge. Regarding free shipping in Canada, as an eBay buyer I definitely don't filter listings out based on whether people offer free shipping or not, so I think most people are used to just searching by total price with the item and shipping added together. I'm on the fence about whether free shipping is a good idea or not, but at the moment, we do keep a lot of items at free shipping within Canada. A couple of people have left feedback to say they appreciated it.

    Hello Greetings from a fellow Canadian reseller. Since Common Lad quit no one has stepped up to represent Canada...until you my son. A little advice you need better audio, maybe use a lavalier microphone or a portable one that plugs into your phone. You should do and in-depth video about the difference between letter mail, Oversized Mail, Expedited Lite. I think a lot of Canadian Resellers still dont understand the difference. And how if you can, keeping your package under 200g to keep more $ in your pocket instead of giving it to Canada post and E-bay. You could also make a whole video on how Canadian Resellers are get screwed because we are not part of the G.S.P program, how our shipping rates are twice as much. Why it costs more for me to ship something to you from the G.T.A than it does to ship to California, etc. etc. You got a big responsibility, do us proud 😎

      Firstly thank you so much for this message, it honestly made my day and I really appreciate it a lot. Whatever the opposite of an internet troll is, that's you, what an absolute legend. Common Lad was awesome I definitely enjoyed watching his videos a lot (check out Chris's Treasure Chest channel if you haven't already, that guy is awesome) and it made me think that if I enjoy watching those types of videos as a reseller then there must be other people out here in internet land that do too! I've been rocking an iPhone 10 since it came out and the charge port has been dead on it for the last year, so I can't plug any cables or headphone/microphones into it. I'm choosing not to replace it, because I like having a frustrating phone that has a battery which doesn't last super long, so that it helps me to use it less. BUT, I know that is selfish and doesn't help viewers, so I've started using my laptop to do some recording and will make an effort to upgrade my equipment as I go along. Thanks for the tips and content ideas, I'm on shipping duties for the next little while here so I'll make sure to work that into my upcoming content for sure. Thanks again for tuning in, tell a friend!

      Welcome here! I tried to find a fun fact about Paducah and it sounds like it's home to the National Quilt Museum so I'm sure everyone there must have a cosy night's sleep! It is too bad I didn't make a "haul" video to go through what all was in here exactly, but in my defense, this was 6 days after I made my first ever UA-cam video and it was my 5th video in those first 6 days. We also had just purchased the contents of a thrift store so it all ended up being amalgamated together as I organized it into similar categories. We do still have sections of items from this haul set to one side unprocessed, so I'll try to make a point of making a video to highlight some of it. Thanks for your comment!

    New sub here. I'm a U.S. cd and dvd seller and I'm wondering if some of those dvds are worth a bit more in Canada or are you going to list cheap and charge shipping? I end up with thousands of dvds that I wholesale out for about 10 cents each but maybe I'm missing the boat and should start charging shipping and go cheap in quantity.

    • @onefootflipper
      @onefootflipper Місяць тому

      America has the issue of mega media sellers who have 5 digit presort media mail rates that are much cheaper and thus this drives the prices of most DVDs in the US to under what you can ship the thing out for. I don't think Canada has that issue.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      For sure some of them are going to be worth a good amount, but I find that a lot of the time the only way to find out is to research where the market is at. By the time you've looked it up, you might as well just continue the listing and go ahead and make a listing. Some movies are obviously massively over produced (an example I often use is the first X-Men movie I feel like that was at peak DVD owning time). We offer free shipping for them within Canada since they can be sent via lettermail which is sort of in the $2-$4 range, but for sending to the States then we're currently charging $9.99 (CAD, not for larger boxsets though) which definitely puts off a bunch of US buyers (rightly so) that are used USPS shipping prices. I know some movies are worth very low amounts, but we like giving customers a good experience and put our faith in getting repeat business from satisfied customers that we've taken care of even with really cheap items. If you become known as a reliable seller then that can only be a good thing right?!

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      @@onefootflipper yeah I've seen accounts with hundreds of thousands of media items, the way that we try to stand out is by having actual photos of our items over the generic ones that a lot of them do. I think Canadian buyers appreciate being able to see if there's a French language option on movies, or collectors that want a really specific release of a certain movie. We have a few $50 DVD's listed currently, so if those aren't available elsewhere then who knows which country they may end up being sold to!. Thanks for your comment!

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      @jamessanechiaro7918 you’re totally right. Specifically for CD’s and DVD’s we replace any cracked or damaged cases before they go out so it gives the customer a better experience over sellers that don’t bother doing that. We also clean discs in our JFJ machine before they leave so they look as nice as possible. We also under grade items to exceed customer expectations. It’s all the little things that help add up to more positive experiences and hopefully repeat business or multi quantity purchases. Just about your comment with shipping there, we do the same thing for magazines and comics, to support them in not just bags and boards, but also cutting a sturdy piece of cardboard or two to go with it and a waterproof polybag to help aim for the best outcome possible. Shipping protection does cost money of course so you can’t always also be the lowest priced option otherwise the numbers don’t work out well.

    DVD/CD seller here in the US, you can get the price-photo-list time down to about 1-2 mins each. You may want to find a way to keep track of what you already have listed and use multiple quantity so you dont have to list the same DVD tons of times as ebay will hide those anyways. I suggest making a photobox for the photoing if you dont have one already.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      Oh for sure I have my price/photo/list time right around 1 minute. I'm gonna document that in an upcoming video but watch this space. I'm not sure if it's my iPhone 10 that's the problem, but honestly the reaction time of the eBay app to get from one step to another is one of the main thing that slows me down. I've tried listing completely on the computer, completely on the phone, using spreadsheets and have ended up at a hybrid of phone and pc. We currently have 3000+ movies and 5000+ CD's listed on our store. For a lightbox I use a couple of lights and a white piece of card.

      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      @@onefootflipper I haven't found a faster way to create drafts with photos attached, than using your voice to search on the app (for me it's faster than typing on a computer and I'm a very fast typer, then clicking one of the pre-suggested templates helps fill in a bunch of item specifics), adding the photos right there and then while you have the draft open and then pressing close to auto save it to research the price later. On a computer, I often can't press "sell similar" on someone else's listing, because if it's located in USA, then it will start creating a draft on eBay.com rather than eBay.ca since I'm in Canada. I find it slower to have photos sent to the computer and then make a listing with the keyboard (although I've never tried plugging a camera into a PC, maybe that feeds them straight into a draft like the smartphone app does?)

    • @onefootflipper
      @onefootflipper Місяць тому

      @@realwildgoods With the mounted document camera you literally just stick the item under it, click, flip it over click again. Way faster than taking cell phone pictures and in some web browsers you can actually take the photos from the listing itself, although I don't do that. • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      @onefootflipper nice yeah I can see how that setup would work well for similar sized items like these DVD’s where you’re not trying to get all different angles of larger items. I’ve just never really had a camera before to try that and I’m planning on setting these up so I can scan all the barcodes in the app. I do something similar to you for sets of items like pin badges where I might have a set of 100 or so then I’ll take 100 photos with a mounted camera. Then I create 100 generic listings at once to add all those photos to, add some keywords to each title and post them all at once.

Not being able to trade vintage and antique goods into the EU is ridiculous and a total restriction on people's freedom to do basic trade, and restricting peoples freedom within those countries to buy what they want.

    Honestly all countries should implement packaging standards and maybe subsidise it to help with any extra costs, the amount of plastic and styrofoam waste that is generated is pretty horrendous, it doesn't just disappear neither it all ends up breaking down and in the environment. All ebay seller should at least try to reduce it if they can and use recycled materials, stuff like shredded paper has always been good and does the same job as foam pieces.

    These are the new carbon footprint rules for Europe. The packaging must be carbon neutral. If you use new recycled cardboard boxes, there is no problem. and I think the new rules only apply to business sellers, at least that's what it says on the Dutch eBay site. Only business sellers must be able to demonstrate where their packaging comes from and if they cannot prove this, ten percent will be added to the sales amount

    I sell to Germany all the time and if I need to get around the packaging rules, I just use a used branded box, like a Nike shoebox or something. They've already dealt with it, so it just slides on through with no issues.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      Oh interesting. When they announced those regulations I did look into applying for a licence in Germany to be officially registered. But from what I could gather, it seemed like you had to predict ahead of time of time what you’re going to be sending there in the next year, as well as who your suppliers are for packaging and what the packaging is made of etc. Since sometimes we recycle packaging (eg Amazon mailers or boxes) and buy from different shipping supplies companies, plus the fee to register then that’s why we decided against it in the end. It’s too bad because we’d love to be able to ship to many more countries, but we don’t have the eBay Global Shipping Program available in Canada 👎

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Місяць тому

      @@Eyeball-Industries if half of your sales are going to the EU then this will have a big impact for sure. Make sure to start researching now what steps you’ll need to take to comply with the new rules coming in so that you’re ready. I’m sure some packages do get through, but I’d rather not risk that on the chance that they start getting rejected. The Post Office mentioned to me that you can’t use boxes that used to have alcohol in them especially shipping out internationally as since they are more of a fire hazard. I’ve heard that some people turn used boxes inside out to hide any kind of branding and make them look nicer too for when they arrive to the customer.

    • @realwildgoods
      @realwildgoods Рік тому

      Most of the prices they had posted per item were already fair even if we had just selected a few items to buy by themselves, so that was a good indicator that a deal could be made. As a buyer it’s good to have a general price range that you’d be comfortable with purchasing at, keeping in mind to have made sure that includes some items you can see which can be sold to get that money back. The goal when we’re buying a collection is to sell some items off to get the purchase price back asap so that the remaining items are all profit and in this case I asked the buyer to come up with a price they’d like to get. It fell within a range of what I felt was reasonable so it ended up being a win win for both parties!
