Love Sydney Carter! I saw him in London 1965, during the height of the folk craze. He sang his songs in a quavering unaccompanied tenor, often while holding a pint glass of beer at waist level.

My mum still has this vinyl - remember liking it as a kid alongside my more usual taste in hard rock

I wonder if anyone can find his obituary if he indeed died. Maybe it would be from California where he spent his winters and seems to have come from?

One day they may analyze and see how objectively progressive this was for 1968. It seems to me that some of the innovations in this album were not commonly done until the mid-1970s.

My husband and I have this album too. He visited our church in Anacortes, WA, many years ago. We loved his song and bit of sermon.

I am wondering if you have any other Ellis & Lynch music that you could upload to UA-cam? Raven Music has no digital versions of Ellis & Lynch, and I am afraid that their music will disappear from the world.

I was his secretary and good friend for quite a long time. I met some fascinating people, went on some great adventures and made some great memories to last a lifetime. When in the northwest I helped with record sales and also sang with him. He typically spent summers in the northwest and winters in California.

I do not find this music "unusual" at all. I find it very pleasant and relaxing. The arrangements are exceptional, and the vocals are amazing for a high school choir.

When this record came out, Scripture Union would not display it on open sale in their shops. The song "I want to have a little bomb like you do" contains the line "who will be the first say I'll throw the bloody thing away", which was a very naughty word wot Christians should not use. I ask you. I got to know some of these guys a bit later and have performed with them. Just saying.

They made only 2 records so far i know, in 1964 and 1965. Its a family group, Gitta Roesingh, and her brothers Rob, Dolf, Frits and Peter from Wassenaar.

When They Shouted Hosanna......wow..... a hymn that crosses over into the psych folk exquisitely.....echoes of the wicker man here..beautiful tune

I knew Gary very well many years ago and in fact was with him at some of his concerts and was privileged to sing duets with him on stage. Got to spend lots of time with him. Does anyone know where he is and how he is? I have some of his record albums. Such a great guy!

I know him well. He was so wonderful, so smart, so much fun and he had the most beautiful voice. He made movies and I was in some of them. He will forever be special to me.

Wonder what happened to him. I heard he was down in Hollywood back in the 1950's. I would like to get some of his recordings.

i have memories of finding this album in my dads collection in the early seventies, such soothing and comforting tunes and words

Ellis & Lynch wrote great songs. I recall their multi-keyboard player, Allan Loucks, and the flute player, Mary Lowney at their concerts really made tasty additions to Ellis & Lynch's great vocal sound. Good stuff!
