Patrick Viau
Canada
Приєднався 22 тра 2012
My name is Patrick Viau and I’m a photographer currently based out of the Canadian Rockies. I spent most of my life inside my comfort zone never realizing I was letting my life pass me by. Then, an amazing thing happened... photography found me and started a whole chain of events that brought me to where I am today.
As with most people, photography started out as nothing more than a hobby. I liked how it forced me to slow down in this fast paced life and take in life's little moments. About a year later, I decided to go on my first trip overseas and that is when it became something more. Being in a new country, photographing exotic landscapes gave me such a rush. And that is how photography quickly became a passion, and before I realized it, I was completely consumed by it.
When I'm not on an adventure in some new country, I like to explore what my home city and surrounding areas have to offer.
What I hope to accomplish through my photography is to convey the emotions I experienced

In this video, I go over 2 different ways you can focus stack images in Photoshop to make a final image that is sharp from the front to the back. Ionian Islands
Переглядів 2206 років тому
Short film I put together of my trip to the Greek Ionian Islands last summer.
Very nice video,..
Put a drop of Loctite on the bolt that secures the Arca Swiss clamp.
Although mine has never come loose, that’s still a great idea. Can never be too safe!
Thank you Patrick!
I'm glad to hear you found this video useful! Make sure to subscribe, I have more videos on the way
Definitely a great video. Just goes to show that it's not just about the point and shoot; lots of thought, prep and determination to attempt to get that perfect shot. Btw, shame you didnt snap a pic from where the camera vided you jumping into the air....or did you? :-)
Thansk Susy! I did actually take a picture of that location which you can see on my flickr account here: www.flickr.com/photos/137693289@N07/50045523411/in/dateposted-public/ and also have a video about it "Photographing waterfalls in Mont-Tremblant"
New subscriber 💪
Thanks for joining! It is much appreciated

Great video Pat! I too like your second attempt better. Great pano shot👌 Glad to see someone mention the effort that goes into most photographs. The need to visit a spot multiple times makes locations close to your home also more ideal, than others further away. Got some good tipps out of this 🙂👍
Thanks Matthias! I greatly appreciate your support and taking the time to watch the video while out on your epic trip. I hope the trip is still going well and rewarding
Niceeeee
Quick question: I see that this plate is available also in a square...is there an advantage/disadvantage to this shape? Thanks!
I personally went with the round model for 2 reasons. The first one just being that I preferred the look. Secondly, I wanted the shorter tightening knob to minimize the risk of the knob hitting against something and breaking when walking around with the tripod attached to my camera bag (I can be rough with my gear sometimes). The round model offers both short and long knob, but the square model offered only the longer knob. I hope that helps and I would love to hear how you like it if you do end up getting either one.
@@patrickviau Thank You! Ordering the round oe today! Will keep you posted. Also am buying a Three Legged Thing in orange.....just think it looks cooler than black!
@@rosalieb7909 love that L bracket! Never realized how much I needed it until I got it. I’m sure you won’t regret getting it
Patrick I have an inexpensive Slik Travel tripod looks similar to yours. Do you know if there would an adapter like yours in the video that would fit a Slik tripod. If not any suggestions on where I can look for one. I was the Arca system so I can use with an L-bracket on my canon 60d. Thanks Patrick
Hi Gary! I'm not sure how your tripod head is built so it's a bit hard to know if there is such an adapter. If your tripod head is removable, that could be an option but tripod heads can be just as expensive as changing the whole tripod. One thing you can do is get an Arca Swiss compatible quick release clamp that has the hole for a 1/4 or 3/8 screw under it (see links below) and screw the plate that came with your tripod under the new Arca Swiss clamp instead of under your camera. This way, you leave the native plate with the new clamp permanently on your tripod and can get yourself an Arca Swiss L brack which will fit in the new clamp. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions, you can send me a DM on my Instagram or Facebook pages. Hey Pat :) awesome video! Will try this technique, when next I have to focus stack. How about a video on long exposure? I know you've got some great long expo shots in your portfolio and I'm sure, I could pick up a trick or two from you...
Thanks Matt! As soon as I get my truck I will be going chasing waterfalls and put something together
Cool video Pat! Nice to see, that you're not just putting photography outings on your chanel, but also other topics. Thumbs up from me :)
Thanks Matt! As always, I appreciate the support!
Very good!!!!
Спасибо большое Вова!
Good info 👍
Awesome vlog Pat! What a way to start your channel. I feel like seeing you and your process of taking the image, gives me instantly a connection to the photograph. Looking forward to more content!
Thanks Matt! Still got to get comfortable in front of the camera and find my flow
F*cking cool 😎
Thanks Vova!
Mega great!!
Beautifully done!
Thanks John! 1 year late with the reply, but better late than never!
Patrick Viau haha looking forward to more from you
I actually just posted a new video yesterday. Feel free to check it out if you have some time to kill. Cheers!
Superb video! Makes me want to visit this beautiful place. Love the music you chose. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you so much Susan! I appreciate it
