I know I joked about it looking like Blair Witch project at 13:56 , but it really does look like a lost footage horror movie. I don't know if you're a fan of those. I think the fact you like to record things, I'm inclined to believe you do. If that's the case, I just wanted to mention the Spanish found footage movie REC (2007) and it's sequel are really good. There was an American remake starring Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter fame titled "Quarantine". (it's not bad, I just prefer REC because it's the original.) Perhaps you've already seen them before but I don't want to assume.

Abandoned and ghost town stuff fascinates me. I've always wanted to travel to Centraillia, PA and that spooky abandoned turnpike where they filmed some of The Road. I've been to Centraillia, WA which may as well be abandoned but there is a Greyhound stop there.
