We lived in Salem for a decade between the mid-80's to the mid-90's ... and then left as we moved around a lot (including the Pearl District in Portland) to chase our careers. When we retired we chose to return to Salem and live in a condo in the downtown core. We get most of what we want with comparatively little of what we don't want. I had a smile when you talked about the downtown merchants being "welcoming." In the background was a clip of The Book Bin. This outfit got in my face for having a backpack. I was lectured and treated like a criminal. I left. That was eight years ago ... and I have not been back. Crappy little nazis. Just saying.
I lived there in the 80’s, it is one of the best places I have ever lived, the people were amazing!

I'm in the UK and only knew of the other Salem, but Salem Oregon is beautiful.

Good luck! I worked in Eugene for 20 years... I left 7 years ago...could not stand another day of rain! One year it was foggy for 12 straight days! I live in AZ now :-)
Having moved from Los Angeles, it was a little of an adjustment, but I don't find it that bad. AZ is nice. I go every Spring for baseball. It's in Phoenix, so it can be already really hot by then. I couldn't handle the heat during the Summers. I have a buddy in Flagstaff and the mountain weather is pretty nice.
@@LivingInSalemOregon-d6e Yeah, Flagstaff is 7,000 ft. Not bad in the summer. My property is down near Tombstone - I leave in May & come back in Oct! haha
You failed to mention the ubiquitous homeless minicamps in the city parks and on the sidewalk areas along Lancaster Road which include, of course, trash, waste and the occasional open drug deals going down. Also not covered is the City Council's continued abject failure to address this basic livability issue for the majority normies who pay taxes and otherwise actually contribute to the community. Salem has a lot going for it, but the City Council has lost focus when it comes to cleaning up the parks and sidewalks. Just saying.
I appreciate your feedback. The homeless problem has become worse here and throughout the country unfortunately, and I do agree that there can and should be more done about this issue.
This is well done. I've lived and worked there a few times. I should mention you get plenty of rain and overcast weather. But it's refreshing...and some people like the clouds.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Definitively a lot of rain and clouds. We were given the heads up before we moved here, but it was still a bit of shock to the system. But, then I remind myself that is why it's so green here and full of nature.
