Thanks! I watched your video about the Fender strings not fitting. I bought D'Addario strings instead but I'm not sure they fit either. Being new to the electric bass I'm not sure how they're supposed to fit but so far at least they sound good.

Thanks for listening! Yeah I'm trying to learn the electric bass and it is very humbling! So far I enjoy playing melodies and trying out some of the music I played on the double bass on the electric bass. I'd like to learn some chords and harmonics too.

Thanks for sharing your insights! I have been impressed by how many techniques and approaches there are with the electric bass. For example from watching videos I've seen it's possible to play with your left hand thumb too! It's cool to learn of this nashville number system. Glad you're still learning new things on the electric bass! That's encouraging.

Yeah I’m sitting here which is more comfortable in some ways but not the best for my left hand. I did adjust the strap so the bass is higher and that seems a lot better. No one has identified this yet.

@@Bassbass2024 No one has identified probably the most recognized piece of classical music? What a world we live in. I'm glad Beethoven didn't live long enough to hear this. (Do I need to put a /s there or was the joke obvious enough?)

Thanks for teaching me what “/s” means! Yeah no one has identified this. When I started this channel I just wanted to play Christmas Carols on the double bass and entertain people but as time goes by I now have another mission which is hopefully to introduce some people to classical music. I know from the comments I’ve received on playing excerpts on the electric bass that some people are hearing this music for the first time and I hope they will be inspired to listen to an orchestra play it.

I hope you enjoy playing the bass. What do you mean by realistic goals? Do you have bass goals? This is a hobby for me and I don’t really have any goals

@Bassbass2024 I'm an absolute beginner. I got my bass only just last week; I'm coming in with zero music experience. I always thought to myself, "Maybe one day, maybe one day...", and put it off. This year finally felt like the first time to start. I'm finally giving it a go! I'm inspired by my favourite musicians, but I'm learning that there's a reason those guys are professionals. I still have a ways to go before I even know the basics. I'm trying to remind myself, "It's for my own enjoyment," while I figure out, well, everything. So how refreshing it is to see someone who's further ahead than me, doing it for the same reasons, to inspire me to keep going! I will likely never reach the skill level of Les Claypool or Bootsy Collins, but I see you playing and think, "There! That's where I would be comfortable reaching!" So I'm going to keep trying. Thank you for uploading your videos!

it being a fender p bass, you can easily buy one that will just pop right in there. this is NOT an expensive fix. no need to freak out. :)

That's good to know. I think the color coding is very handy! I always just could tell double bass strings apart by comparing them to each other.

Thanks for your feedback. I am “responsible” for producing this short. I am just one person with no photography skills who is doing UA-cam for a hobby and for fun. If you want to reframe it rather than a “fail” it was a cool puzzle that many super smart electric bassists figured out without any visual clues. I could say that I follow Dogme 95 but really I have no idea what I’m doing and learned on this video that I couldn’t rotate my camera around. I’m learning as I go. So far in less than two months on UA-cam I’ve added end screens and made playlists. But I mostly care about music so this channel is never going to be edited videos and whatever might make you happier. Take care

Yes the strings I replaced were the original strings that came with the bass in the 1980s. These new strings are so much easier to play. To me they sound better and plus there isn’t as much fret noise.
