A very special shoutout to William Arends and his amazing contribution to the LiveStreams!
William combs through various databases of German newspapers, and provides us with translated material that we get to use and keep us informed, of the Central Powers' point of view, during the same period in time, while we are getting information from an Entente friendly newspaper.
It is great to have two different perspectives on the same events, and I am so very grateful for William Arends being part of our community.
In addition, William also provides his insights and opinions, via his "Translator's notes", and I have included one below, so you can read for yourself, just how good and valuable a resource William Arends is, for our LiveStream:
"Translator's note: this tortured text seemed to be affected by government censorship.
The Volkswacht editor seems to want to criticize Scheidemann fro allowing himself to be used as a government mouthpiece while acknowledging the position of neither expropriating private businesses or annexing foreign lands was in keeping with their own beliefs.
I also found it comical that this is a paper for eastern Westphalia.
This occurs because of the specificity of German local geography.
Eastern Westphalia being the part of Westfalen east of the Rhine."

I Ended Up Getting A PTZ Camera For The War Table, And I Am Eager To Get It Mounted On The Ceiling!

This is going to be so much better than dealing with the old overhead camera that could not zoom in on the War Table. In addition, I am looking forward to not having to use the camcorder and tripod on the War Table. And I seriously need to keep checking the volume level for the microphone, as Windows just loves setting it to super low levels, every time I clear my web browser cache, go figure.

The "Dniester Offensive", also known as "Plan 97", will be carried out by the 3rd Army, under the command of Rudolf von Brudermann, and is tasked with the retaking of Stanislau. In support, will be Mortiz von Auffenberg's 2nd Army, and who will try and keep the Russians busy near Czernowitz. Aerial reconnaissance will be largely ineffective in much of the area South of the Dniester, due to the ...

Got to use my CRT, and it sure is bloody, if enough Strength points are used. Also, I got to see how deadly it can be, when a Defender is able to Supply a lot of Strenght points and does not have to Retreat. In addition, I got to see how inportant it is to have Reserve troops nearby, as the Germans did not and are unable to effectively support the woefully underpowered troops both near Lodz and...

The Germans also got to be the first to perform aerial reconnaissance, which has paid off. They can now see a large buildup of troops and artillery not only East of Lodz, but also that the Russian 7th Army is poised to lay siege to Memel. Surprisingly, the areas in East Prussia that the German 9th Army are tageting, and have a huge amount of troops, artillerty, and supply to mount a serious off...

Thanks for the compliments. Please check the email I sent you.
Morning👍
Thanks man.
I misread the news regarding the Canada Postal Strike ending. The Govt has referred the issue to Canada's Labour Relations Board to issue a pause in the strike until May while a Commission is struck to assess the issues. The strike continues till the LRB renders a decision. It's unclear at present what the union will do, the there is no change as of now. Sorry for the confusion.
No worries at all, man! This has been more current events stuff in one day for me, than I have had in ages. Wishing you a great week!
New camera looks great. Interested to see how it works for you.
Thank you! I am eager to get this properly set up and get some recording of game play and analysis, out f this. I think it was a good purchase.
Evening sir.
Still evening for you, so we are on the same time frame for once :) Hope you are doing well!
Morning.
Afternoon, Charles!
@@Nangwaya Evening lads.
@@S008555 Hello!
Very nice! It should bring the viewer much closer to the action.
We can take it for a spin, when you pop over :)
Which brand/model did you end up getting?
Hi! I went for this one: Tenveo 20X Optical Zoom PTZ Conference Room Camera: tenveo.com/product/ptz-camera/423.html
Impressive piece of kit. The auto focus as you move the lens works very well.
Thanks and neat to know about the focus. I am eager to have it properly mounted!
Outstanding Chris. A lot more than i want to spend on one for my laptop. Finished my 6 mm game. It needs some "help". Have fun.
Thanks. Help? What specific help is needed, in your opinion.
Good morning!
👍👍
The other morning no,w but still good, and hope your is too!
I love hearing that you’re still passionate about the game. We’ll have to get together over the Christmas break.
The passion is only increasing :) Yes, we do need to hook up - I have tonse of books for you, too!
Some day I’ll play the DW Western Front. Some day!
If have not looked at the later scenarios. I wonder if they do the Ludendorff Offensive and perhaps even the plans for 1919?
Hmm, you just may have inspired me to revisit Der Weltkrieg. Now that I have more table space, the Gorlice-Tarnów Breakthrough Scenario looks interesting...
Hi! Oh, that scenario, I have the setup on a wall map, in my kitchen. That is a monster scenario to do, if you get around to playing it. I would like to try the Brusilov Offensive, that looks interesting, too.
Evening sir. Looking good sir. Separated into different 'boxes' my unopened, German, American/UK and Russian/Soviet 6 mm armour, planes n infantry. Touched up the edges of some of the tiles. I'll be setting up a 2:1 scenario soon. I need better storage for the 'completed' AFV. This is a significant issue.
I'll get the French turn one done soon for France 40. Going to get a paint order list for all the figures that I've gotten. Anything for Silver bayonets specifically will be painted first.
Have a good evening and a good week at work
@@charleslatora5750 Thanks, Charles! Yep, still have a while to go before zipping off to work, so get to fiddle around. Looking forward to France 40. Hope you have a wicked Monday!
is this a game or?
Hi! Yes, it is a game, but I have altered significantly from the original, so it is more or less a home brew game. Also, very narrative based. The game I am playing is a highly modified version of the game Der Weltkrieg, which is a hex and counter wargame set during WWI, and was designed by Dave Schroeder. Here is a link to a description of the Der Weltkrieg and the games (modules) that are contained in this series: boardgamegeek.com/boardgamefamily/111/series-der-weltkrieg If someone purchased all the modules, including the Grand Campaign, you could play out the entire War, however, it would take some time! If you are interested in seeing how Der Weltkrieg is played properly, as I certainly do not, then I recommend checking out these: How-to-Play Tannenberg - Introductory Scenario for Der Weltkrieg Meandering Mike ua-cam.com/video/Kldk8W2F7BE/v-deo.html Der Weltkrieg - 1 Introduction. Jezza One ua-cam.com/video/A9D-UCA7oJI/v-deo.html See It Played: Der Weltkrieg - Tannenberg - 1 MJL ua-cam.com/video/XM07uboaiTg/v-deo.html I hope this helps, and Happy Gaming to you!
Is this your first time playing this scenario of Der Welt Krieg?
Kind of, William. It is an extension of the combined Tannenberg / Galicia scenarios, but I have now will be continuing on with it, and am adding bits of the Grand Campaign rules and incorporating the other fronts, to varying degrees of detail - some fronts, like the Western, will be very abstracted and will not be doing any actual combats and such, and then there will be other fronts, such as Palestine / Mesopotamia, that will be very high detail, like the one on my War Table.
Good Monday morning!!
Daughter Liz n grandson will be taking me out to do my chores. And hers. Got like 20+ tiles done. Later I'll take them out and give them a clear coat so all the stuff doesn't keep falling off. Aiming for an initial 5 x 5 squares for test gaming. 6 x6 squares will give me +- 2' x 2' area.
Good Tuesday monring :)
Wicked! And as I mentioned, i think your tiles are coming out really good!
Happy to see you’re still enjoying the game!
