    after watching your video and the 2 or 3 other videos that cover this technique i have been attempting this recently and my results are not coming out as well. could i possibly ask you a few questions? i must be doing something wrong because im still having 80% of the ink wash away and im left with dull desaturated trash.

    Thank you for sharing, I actually tried this technique on my own for my side business a while ago and I got discouraged because if you scrub a bit too hard you'll end up scrubbing the ink off, and after drying I did see paper leaves a hazy white shade on the print, but sealant does hide that, I also bumped the temperature I normally print with a bit up (maybe 10C) and reduced 1st layer speed a lot, I'm going to try this again You are right, not many people are doing this, up until maybe 6 months ago the only video was the one with the hat brim that you showex

    I don’t know if it is a new update or what, but it won’t let me pick anything but their sticker cut settings. It won’t let me use a custom made setting. And none of their settings are cutting through for the dye cut. I’m stumped on the settings, you can change the pressure on their premade sticker settings but when I put dye cut to 350 it still doesn’t work. It’s so frustrating.

    • @LabcraftStudio
      @LabcraftStudio 14 днів тому

      That is weird. I actually just updated Cricut software prior to making the video. What machine are you using? And were you using their built in sticker feature? I don’t have a subscription so I’ve never used that and wonder if it locks things in. Also, are you able to cut through other things like a paper or vinyl project? If not it could be your blade.

  • @yourcreativeplayground6829

    Super cute, however the resin under your pin back isn’t curing. It’s still uncurled resin and that pin back is only being held on by that thin top layer. I’d glue it down with some e6000 or something of the sort then add that thin layer of up on top after the glue has dried.

    • @LabcraftStudio
      @LabcraftStudio 22 дні тому

      It really depends on what you need to cut. Diode lasers are cheaper but you can’t cut all acrylic colors. I would recommend looking into what material you want to work with and seeing what is needed to cut or engrave that first.

    how do you create the kiss cut?

    • @LabcraftStudio
      @LabcraftStudio 28 днів тому

      The kiss cut is made by only one pass of the blade (cutting just the sticker paper). The outside border is cut 3 times to create the die cut (going all the way through the paper).

  • @learning2-live312
    @learning2-live312 Місяць тому

    Thank you! I have watched no less than 50 of these die cut specific videos. You are the first to actually explain ‘the why’ behind copying the offset layer 3-4 times then merging with the design. So many people just say to do without explaining the reason which makes me question the necessity of a step. Now I understand the extra copy layers are basically telling the cricut to cut again & again automatically so it cuts all the way through the material. No reloading machine necessary. Thanks again! 🎉

    Instead of filling it with water prior to welding(I know you said it's not waterproof eitherway), couldn't you just leave a small little area for a needle and inject water after the rest is welded, then just resin seal that hole you used? I would probably use something like propylene glycol over water, I think it would provide a more snow globy effect. Not sure though, just thinking out loud.

    • @LabcraftStudio
      @LabcraftStudio Місяць тому

      I didn’t contemplate this but the problem is that you get small holes in other spots around the cuts where things leak. I don’t know if perhaps coating the sides with resin would fix that problem. I haven’t had a chance to try it out.

Also, the new version of light burn allows you to simply enter the material thickness in the Gweike cloud rather than performing the math.

    That's so strange that using hairspray worked. I'm no expert by any means but if i had to guess, maybe some form of moisture barrier kept the wax from seeping into the surface of the plastic. By that logic maybe what would work even better is using some form of oil or lubricant on the surface of the stamp. Also perhaps resin printing would produce better results as it comes out much smoother and far less porous. Although its not as accessible and FDM is what most people use

    • @LabcraftStudio
      @LabcraftStudio Місяць тому

      You’re not wrong I thought it was weird too! Admittedly, my daughter also had some hairspray detangler and that worked just as well so I think it may be some form of an oil or PEG.

    Vinyl stickers are probably too thick to allow the acrylic edges to touch. If you engrave a shallow pocket for the sticker to set into, you may have better luck. I think that may be the issue with the paint and resin as well. If either of those is even a fraction above the surface of the acrylic, edge contact will suffer. Another thought... if you are going to have any scoring or engraving on the inside, make sure the melted edges of the score/engrave are not protruding past the surface. If so, knock the high spots down with a small file.

      You are so kind. That’s our mini golden doodle River. I also did a follow up video recently where I make shakers using this technique and go into a little more detail on the technique if you are looking for more information.
