Calypso Adventures
Australia
Приєднався 30 кві 2011
Come share our adventures on dive vessel Calypso.
Based in Safety Bay, Western Australia, we love to dive, fish and explore our beautiful local waters.
We particularly enjoy sustainablable hunting, providing fresh seafood for our family and friends.
Calypso started it's life as a commercial pearl diving boat in Port Hedland, Western Australia back in 1982. When I bought her she was pretty much at the end of her life, quite run down and in need of a bit of love.
After enjoying 2 years of diving and fishing in and around the Dampier Archipelago off Karratha, Western Australia, I brought her home to Safety Bay for a complete back to bare metal refit and a new lease of life.
I plan to get many more years out of this great old boat.

I spotted this little cuttle fish recently and was able to entice him out of his cave for a curious interaction Disclaimer: This content is exclusively managed by CATERS NEWS AGENCY. I came across this Grey Nurse shark in Colin's cave, then shot a tasty Dhufish while I was in there Disclaimer: This content is exclusively managed by CATERS NEWS AGENCY. To license or use in a commercial player please contact licensing@catersnews.com or call 44 (0)121 616 1100 / 1 646 380 1615

The old man got some balls
Wow! awesome job i recently found that a white shark bit a surfer in half where i surfed as a young man in Morro Bay near the big rock. Makes me think how many other sharks were below me all down that coast of cali yikes
You stare at him and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes-- not from the front, but from the side, from the other two great whites you didn't even know were there.
most crazy great white encounter I've ever seen filmed, the only close encounter white a shark was when I was surfing in New Zealand and had a curious bronzie right next to me checking me out because I was splashing so much in the water.
Great video shark stuck around for a while , thankfully you had plenty of air and remained calm
I ran out on the way back to the boat
Well managed situation. That shark was looking for an easy meal opportunity but you guys didn’t facilitate. Congrats
dont see either diver wearing a sharkshield detterant?? madness
My dive buddy has started wearing one now
@@CalypsoAdventures good investment, that white woulda got a nasty headache at about 3m and shook its head n not come back
You would see a brown cloud floating past the cam if that was me. Who am I kidding, I wouldn't be down there.
I guess you can answer the question, if you shit yourself in a wetsuit does it escape the suit? 🤣
Надо в яркие цвета раскрасить костюм , и еще что бы мигал,как у кольчатого осьминога,который ядовит. Тогда акулы будут боятся кусать
It was DEFINITELY checking you out
L'adrenalina ti esce dalle orecchie
Was this in Western Australia
Yep, 5km offshore from Safety Bay
@ I wanted to do my padi refresher maybe not now 😂😂
Best thing you’ll ever do, get back in the water. I dived in 35m today and could see the boat clearly on the surface. Clouds of fish, like being in an aquarium.
I kind of wonder if you kind of crouching down like prey would sort of hiding might not have been a great idea. I know it’s easier for me to analyse it from my phone lol but just being beneath her didn’t seem the best maybe Idk who knows really but you came out ok so that’s what matters!
U fakas was lucky!
What is the 5?
The 5 Fathom Bank is an offshore reef system that runs parallel to the Western Australian coastline ~ 5km offshore averaging 12-20m deep. From South Rottnest Island, South to Mandurah.
Really glad the divers were ok!! 💀☠️....beautiful killing machines...not the sharks fault ofcourse they are truly magnificent creatures. 👏
The sharks are pretty good looking as well 😂🤣
@CalypsoAdventures ....😂 True that! I suppose I could give the sharks some credit as well!! ✌️😂
thats fucken crazy bro, i would shit myself.
WOW. In hindsight the greatest experience of your life.
Only problem, the annoying bubbles the whole vid..could not listen to it
I would have been engulfed in a brown cloud the entire time.
At this point dudes just roll playing as one of the fish lol
1:34 fuckkkkk
Wow! Very dangerous! What kind of stick are you holding?
That’s a cray loop, we use that to snare the Western Red Lobster
great white: whatcha staring at.
It is said that if you blow enough bubbles, the sharks will get scared and swim away
Ya'll So Brrraaavve
OMyG😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
2 very positive points are 1.) The GW was just curious and did not attack. 2.) Good that GW do not hunt in groups as far as we know :)
They do sometimes hunt in pairs
@@CalypsoAdventures 😅 so we are back to 1 positive 🤣🤣🤣 Great video and super brave! Did you guys give it like a 10% chance that you might encounter a GW or did you go diving like 100 times and this is your first encounter? Or are you absolutely cool with these GW being in the same area? Do you know TheMalibuArtist on UA-cam? It shows drone footage and how the GWs behave... It can basically be said, they are more or less always there and also often really close, but you just do not see them most of the time...
My mate Andy, has over 3000 dives over 30 years and never seen one. I have done 100 dives and seen one. It’s quite a rare privilege to be in the water with one.
@@CalypsoAdventures It really is! Awesome video and thanks for sharing!
Was wondering,... You had an adrenaline rush right? That must be just unavoidable reaction/insinct, unless you dive with them every second day...
Camera man kept looking at the nook below. lol
Yes, I was looking to see if my mate was coming out of the cave under me. As you saw, he popped up about 25m away from a different exit
What you would've given for a rebreather lol those bubbles were giving me anxiety waiting for that shark to emerge from them at any moment.
If it wanted to eat you you wouldn't see it comming. They are so fast when hunting.
Your own fault for going diving.
That was in Perth Fxck That😂😂😂
Cool video. However, you should mount your camera somewhere else so as not to constantly have bubbles covering the view
Yeah I know, but I need to keep my hands free to hunt. I carry a torch, cray loop and a spear gun. I also need my hands free to Ikijimi fish with my knife when I spear them if I don’t get a kill shot.
very interesting and fantastic video, i am glad, that everything has gone well. 😚😚
I add great white shark along with spider on my list of things I do not like as “out of sight out of mind.”
Big white on the 5 and a big brown in my pants. Bye 🙋🏽♂️
So big, so majestic, so freaking scary. Holy shit I have mixed feelings from just watching this video. Can't imagine how it must've felt in there.
HOLY SHIT
Oooh hell nahhh!! When it’s coming up behind ya boy. Omg I would’ve prob became shark food right there cus I would’ve had a heart attack and died that very second I looked back n seen it.
That’s exactly why I would never go scuba diving!! My biggest fair I could ever even imagine! Is that what your suppose to do if ever put in that situation? Stay close to the ground n hide from it basically? I would never have to worry about that thought cause if my feet can’t touch the ground in any body of water Im nowhere near it!
That’s so dangerous. I can’t think of anything more intimidating than that. Being in the water with Australians. I’m just glad the Shark made it out of there okay 😮💨
Thats not the shark you need to worry about, its the one you dont see that matters.
If that didnt make your asshole clench omg
Fuck that I got scared just watching it on my bed
The surge...Imagine having to do deco too...
Kinda funny when a shark looks straight ahead showing his side and still manages to come closer.
imagine if this a night dive and you only see what your flash light revels sooooo scary
Whew. Jaws theme was playin on that one. Need something that can scare her off noise wise or maybe some type of warning coloring like a sea snake. anything! Lol damn.
