Original on My Brother's Jackson
Since I had my brother's Jackson Dinky guitar for a while, I decided to write a little song on it. The thing really rocks! I was running through the following...
Analogman Comprossor
Homebrew Electronics Power Screamer
Strymon Blue Sky
Strymon Brigadier
Fender Twin Reverb

George Harrison vibes 😅😮😊
How do you manage the neck dive ?
You never even notice when you are playing. If you completely take both hands away from the guitar, it will slowly drift downwards, but this is never an issue.
@ appreciate the response. I’m deciding between this and an Ibanez Prestige. Feel the Ibanez would play smoother but there’s something about an old school Gibson sound
just stands there absolutely rippin it like a boss for 7 minutes... hell yeah
I hope you can make a video with my Telecaster, once you have it finished. That would be cool.
I will have to do that! 😃
@@Jason-ry9fl awesome!
The EMG (HZ4) passive humbucker pickups are a beast of their own. I like them a lot.
Yeah that was awesome! That’s cool to see you or someone else play my Jackson Dinky guitar. It’s completely different than all of my other guitars. It sounds great. I find my self playing differently on the Jackson as opposed to one of my Les Paul guitars or the Fender Strat .
Well, I really enjoyed playing it and the pickups do sound amazing. They have a nice, clear bite to them. It's like a hot rod Strat.
@@Jason-ry9flyeah, that’s a fair assessment. The sound great clean channel or with some dirt on it . . Nice playing! That’s a cool song.
@Jim-Robbins thank you. I let Kate hear it and a few minutes later, she said "I have your song in my head". 😊
@@Jason-ry9fl that’s a good feeling!
❤ awesome. I love the sounds of the Ric guitar and Ric bass together
@Jim-Robbins thanks Bro. That's the first time I recorded them together.
@@Jason-ry9fl definitely sounds good
@Jim-Robbins I greatly appreciate that!
Awesome sound ! Beautiful guitar ! I’m new to playing and hope to one day play like you ! Any recommendations on what to practice as a beginner? It’s so overwhelming! Once again great blues soloing !!
Thank you very much. As far as improving, I would say watching beginning tutorials is helpful. Also, picking simple songs to learn and practice is good. You can also try playing along with some of your favorite songs and try to play with friends or family. Watch lots of how to videos and try to make small improvements every day. Learning basic chords and strumming is essential too. Leads can be learned slowly at your pace too.
Man that sounds absolutely awesome 🤩
Shades of Frank Marino 😂😂
good play!!!!!!! I love it
Thank you very much!!! 😊
Awesome! I have a lot of vids from this show . I may go ahead and upload them soon to my channel. Joe is an incredible guitarist and very inspirational to both you and I .
An excellent show. I am glad we were able to go see him together.
@Jim-Robbins yes, me too. He was incredible. Hopefully he will play there again someday soon.
Sounds incredibly delicious. Your SG is nearly identical to mine, except have the 2013 - (‘61 specs) and it’s in the Natural Honey burst. These are incredible players and they look great as well.
@@Jim-Robbins yeah, nothing like an SG. I have always loved them.
Man that was awesome! I can totally feel the music playing. I could listen to this all day.
Thank you Bro! Glad you liked it!
Magical by the maestro ❤❤❤ thanks for sharing brilliant
I was there! GREAT show! Thank you.
@jbar19 one of the the best shows we have ever been to. I would have filmed the whole song, but I hate being glued to my phone during a concert. So glad we went... what a phenomenal show!!!
Looks like Clapton. Plays like those who influence Clapton!
They sound the same way as I remembered them from the early days . They sound good !
@Jim-Robbins I would about say that it was the best concert I have ever gone to. The light show was beyond words, the musicianship was incredible.. they were so tight. It was amazing!!!!
Is that an SG on clean channel? 😂
@@greg6509 I was running through a clean amp, but using my Walrus Audio Ages Overdrive.
Makes me wanna pick up my SG some more!
Nice jam bro!
Thank you!
Great playing man. What amp are you using? Subscribed! Greetings from Barbados 🇧🇧
Thank you. Thanks for subscribing also. Wow, Barbados! 😊
@@Jason-ry9fl You're welcome. The guitar you're playing is one of my dream guitars! 50's Standard in Cherry Sunburst 🤤
@@kadeemward I think I was going through my Fender Twin Reverb.

Great tone man, what pedals you using ?
🎉
Good job !
Sounds good!
Thank ya! 😊
What an awesome tone! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching... and the compliment. 🙂
🤙🤘
Awesome. Amp and pedals using?
Thank you. I was using an Analogman Comprossor, Walrus Audio Eras, Strymon Brigadier and Blue Sky Reverb... into Vox AC-15.
That was an awesome job!🎸
Thank you so much!
I was at this concert, he has been my guitar hero since the 80"s. first time to see him. nothing like flying in a Blue Dream.
Same here! I remember so well when his "Always With Me, Always With You" debuted on MTV. I was soooo blown away. I have loved his music ever since. That concert was incredible. So glad I got to see him. I would love it if he came back through again.
@@Jason-ry9fl absolutely! That song was my 1st exposure to Satch. I’ve loved his playing ever since.
Man, you actually look like Eric Clapton. Mind if i ask what amp you were using? And also i love this, wish it was a full song!
I never thought about that. Lol. Interestingly enough, my dad has always reminded me of Eric Clapton. Was running through my Vox AC-15. I should probably record anothwr instrumental album at some point. Thank you for watching!!! 😊
@@Jason-ry9flCould you tell me the name of your solo album, or a band if you played in one? I could actually listen to this for hours. Its like David Gilmour but more agressive!
@@oruletesfahejiz my wife and I have recorded several albums since the late 90s... not online, but you can check out a few on my other YT channel. youtube.com/@vela75 I have several Vela songs uploaded on there. You will just have to peruse. If you look at the older Vela videos posted on that channel, you can find actual music videos. Some of the video quality is outdated and blurry. But, the sound is still quite good. Vela is more in the dreampop/shoegaze category, but, well, you will hear it. Hope you enjoy. Thanks again for watching and for the compliments.
@@oruletesfahejiz BTW, Gilmour is one of my absolute faves!
Awesome. I drink my coffee with a cigarette on the porch to the music. fabulous. Contemplation. It can be safely used to accompany a movie scene. boundless expanses of nature and you travel on a bike across the country. bliss
One of the few you tube players with a nice vibrato most tend to sound like epileptic mosquitos.
Thank you. I guess I never gave my vibrato much thought. It kind of naturally comes out. Hey, thanks for watching and for the compliment.
I love my SG, It was my favorite guitar until i got a Les paul jr. Great playing btw. What effects or pedal are you using?
Thanks. Effects... I was running through the following: Analogman Comprossor, JHS Bonsai, Strymon Blue Sky, and Strymon Brigadier.
Really nice playing!
Thank you so much!!!
dude this was ducking awesome. such a great tone and you absolutely shred
Thank you. I certainly appreciate that!!!! Thanks for watching!
Jason, that sounds great. Incredibly smooth playing! I love that SG.
Thank you Bro. I can't believe I went that many years without an SG. They are amazing!
@@Jason-ry9fljust going through the same thing! Very versatile machine
Joto shuni toto lage bhalo! This is Bengali for "The more I hear, the more I like". I generally play Fender, but this guitar captures me, and I believe I must have one, or, economics not in my favor, its little brother the Epiphone SG Standard. Great playing!
Thank you. I would imagine the Epiphone SG would rock as well. I have heard several times that the newer Epiphones are fantastic. I played one from 2010 or so and that thing was amazing. I also had a Kay SG from the 60s many years ago and I loved it. I think it is the combination of lightweightness, mahogany, pickups, and neck that all comes together to give you an awesome sound and playing experience. I highly recommend getting an SG!!!
Sounds great. Thinking about pulling the trigger on this same guitar. On the fence on this one or the vibrolla. Any thing you don’t like about yours?
Well, this is actually not the reissue... it is a run Gibson did in around 2013, 2014 or so called the "Standard SG '61". It has most all of the same specs, except that the volume pots are push-pull for coil split. Other than that, it is pretty much the same specs as a '61 reissue. So, here are my thoughts. First... this guitar is the kind you cannot put down! It is so light, resonate, and easy to play. The pickups are the 57 Classics. These are the same ones that are in my 335. I must say, I absolutely love them. I have burstbuckers in my Les Paul Standard and I don't really care for those compared to the 57 Classics. Burstbuckers are too hot that I feel like they don't have the harmonic sound or feel that the more vintage voiced classics have. The tone is just more saturated and "generic" sounding to my ears. Anyway, that all being said, the SG's pickups are amazing. I love the sound that I get from them. The neck is perfect. It is not super thin, but is not thick at all. It is just a perfect thinness that fits my hand like it was made for me. The body is thin, light, and ergonomic. I absolutely love it. It resonates like I can't believe.... even when played acoustically. The only negative is the balance when you have a strap on and let go, the neck goes downward because of the weight of the neck and headstock. This is really not an issue though. 99% of the time you are playing, not letting go. Plus the guitar is so incredibly light, I never think about that. (The weight of a vibrant would possibly balance that out, but would add extra weight). So, overall, I cannot recommend this guitar enough. I even like to play it more than my 2020 Standard 50s Les Paul. That is saying a lot!!! Easy to play, sound that is pure rock heaven, light, and simply put, a perfect guitar. I would go for it a thousand times. Oh, I didn't even mention. It is also a gorgeous guitar!!! It looks amazing and I really love the richness of the dark cherry finish... it is beautiful. Hope this helped! 😀
I have this guitar and it is my dream guitar.I love it. Go for it!!
The SG 61 stop bar is an awesome guitar. I got one in 2019. I love the neck and the fact that it doesn't neck dive like my other SG. The pickups are a bit hot and bright. I swapped for seth lovers. I prefer stop bars over vibrollas - just cause i hate the other 5 strings going out of tune when you bend one.
Love the tone you got here man wow
Thank you. I really appreciate that! 😀
@@Jason-ry9fl You're welcome, I read that you use Strymon Blue Sky in your info, I definitely need to get myself one of them !!!
@@GroundPilotsMusic Yes, I have had that pedal for a few years now. It is amazing. It so huge and lush-sounding.
Some nice playing there Jason, really enjoyed that man, nice SG!!!
Thank you!!!
I have the same guitar coming in this week, woo hoo! Great playing, I think we have similar playing styles and I also happen to be a Jason 🤠
Small world!! I absolutely love this Rick. I play 9s on it because of the smaller frets. Took me forever to realize that on Rickenbackers, but once I did, it immediately played a million times better. Thats so wild that both our names are Jason, both play Ricks, and have similar playing styles. Rock on!!! Thanks for watching and commenting. 😀
@@Jason-ry9fl This is my first go around with a Rick, and I’ve read all the stuff about people not being able to adapt to the feel of them, but I have a lot of guitars w/ completely different feels…radius’, scale lengths, body shapes, fret and neck sizes etc. I play guitars on their own terms and adapt accordingly, which inspires my playing in diff. ways. I use mostly 10-46 on my electrics, but I occasionally use 9’s also if the guitar has a smaller radius and frets…to facilitate easier bends. Long time coming for me, I’ve long admired a lot of Rick players…Buck and Marr particularly, and the Smithereens guitarist. Thanks for the response and advice on string gauge 🙂
@@sixbladeknife44 I totally agree. I thoroughly enjoy how each guitar always brings a totally different way of playing out of me. Each guitar tends to inspire me towards a certain style and sound that is distinct from the others. Pretty cool how that works. Hey, its been nice chatting. Take care!

I love that new ‘61 reissue SG
@@Jim-Robbins thanks man. I am loving it. It rocks. Some guitars are just an absolute pleasure to play and this is one of them.
How long did it take your pedalboard to be made and shipped to you?
It has been a while, but I am thinking it took about 6 weeks. I think it was supposed to be done way before that, but they were backed up for some reason. On the positive side, I spoke with the owner on the phone and through email. He was great about responding. I would hear back from him within a day each time I had a question. I am still loving the board. It is so well built. Could not be happier.
sounds are so amazing
