Riding three trains from Germany to Switzerland, including a first class ticket on the ICE 71 from Frankfurt to Basel. A quick change of trains to catch a first class ride from Basel to Zurich, and then a short ride from Zurich to Kilchberg, to find the Lindt ‘Home of Chocolate’.

Flying Lufthansa from Manchester to Frankfurt

On today's journey, we are flying economy on the Lufthansa Airbus 320 from Manchester to Frankfurt, Germany. We will catch a train from Frankfurt Airport to the city. The journey was about £163 for the flight, with the train trip into the city about 5 euros.

How do you know what sort of train will operate the route? I wanted to go from Zurich to Basel 👍and the double decker seems the nicest. Is where the train terminates any idea of what type of train?
Happy to see that you liked your stay in Basel. It's really an overlooked city by tourists, which is one of its perks. It's not overrun and you can enjoy the historic city centre mostly in peace. Please do gatekeep it ^^
So sad that you took the "wrong" exit at the train station so you didn't see the beautiful hall and front facade of the main entrance
In a few years those trains will be taken off the lines. You did a trip in the 1990s.
