SOSMP Music Hall Beachville Bluegrass Southland Express 2 20 1987
Переглядів 283Рік тому
This was shot in the Music Hall at the Spirit of the Suwannee not long after the music hall was completed. The park hosted bluegrass bands in the hall every winter, frequently with a concert every weekend. The original room only held 100 or so people, and admission was usually $5, so nobody was getting rich for sure. Southland Express and Beachville Bluegrass featured Booie Beach before he move...
Spirit of the Suwannee Music Hall The Sullivans with Marty Stuart 3 23 1989.
Переглядів 369Рік тому
This would have been shortly after Marty Stuart returned to Mississippi after his first two national label albums failed to keep the money men happy. He rejoined the Sullivans briefly, likely a combination of "dancing with those that brung ya" and to earn a little cash. Not long after (or perhaps before this show) Marty started his collaboration with Tony Brown, and his first round of chart hit...
Alison Krauss CBS Sunday Morning segment October 1994 filmed around the Festival of the Bluegrass
Переглядів 39 тис.Рік тому
A rough copy of a story from CBS Sunday Morning featuring the beginning of the meteoric rise of Alison Krauss. Aged 23 in the video, Krauss has gone on to win a giant stack of Grammy's and one of the most loyal fan bases in the industry. She has branched out from her bluegrass roots to collaborate on projects of all sorts. I apologize for the poor quality, but this was taken literally from an o...

From 1988, this is about 8 years before Dudley Connell would join the Seldom Scene, and 7 years before Eddie Stubbs (fiddle) would join the Grand Ole Opry as their new announcer (1995). Both (as well as the rest of the JMB) are tremendous ambassadors for bluegrass music, and I'm so proud that this classic (but newly inducted into the Hall of Fame) band played our park in it's early days.

If I did this I’d feel like Dennis Hale while he was on a liferaft! But I guess once you learn the sounds of the attacks, it’d be ok, but I’d be dying quicker than you can say methuselah!

It's hard to say exactly, but based on similar quality video, my best guess is 1986 or 87. The Lewis Family came every winter for about 10 years, starting in 1986.

Vince has done a great job singing together with Dawn Sears backup voice. Merle would be very proud of Vince singing this particular song as it is a wonderful song, sang from the heart. I LOVE Vince he has such a unique style voice. No one shall ever have a voice like Vince Gill. He is my favourite singer now that we have lost Waylon @ Dawn @ Merle.May they all always be resting in peace. All very sadly missed .But there great music lives on in my heart and soul. Godbless them Best wishes Elizabeth Scotland .Thank you again Vince Gill .❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for sharing this! My most favorite part of it is when we get to meet the lady who was nice enough to share her angel with the rest of us. After hearing what Alison's mother sounds like, I can only imagine if her singing sounds like Alison too because to me, their speaking voices are exactly the same and Alison couldn't look any more like her mama either. (shaking my head with a smile) God bless you and my role model and her family always!!! Holly in east TN (a fan of Alison since 1994)

Well, we found out that Alison is just another human being and she is following the "crowd"! She has left Bluegrass (hopefully not permanently) and her roots! At times she doesn't look well (at least to me) and doesn't appear to enjoy herself anymore!

She's not following a crowd. She, as well as her music, has evolved. She has expanded her musical catalog and discography. You can't expect a gifted musician and singer like Alison, who has worked with everybody from Yo Yo ma and Edger Meyer to Sting and Robert Plant, to stay in a box or any single genre. She's created her own lane by not limiting herself. That is why she is who she is. She's truly genreless.
