Resistance is voltage over current.
I know you made it for practical reasons, but its so prettyyyyyy! ✨🌈
Being pretty is also the practical reason. Make something you can see, touch. It gives happy thoughts.
If the mini health-meter disappears, press BACKSPACE and then open it again.
how did anyone play this and think that move speed was acceptable?
You gotta go slow when the game world turns into fog 2 metres in front of you 😂
This game deserves a remake with an updated engine, but without changing anything in the story or characters so as not to kill the soul of the game.
this game has plot holes in it like they're supposed to be there, sort of like pre-ripped jeans! make your own fun destroying the last bit of joy from the innocence of youth~!
I have my original boxed special edition of U9... I beat it when it was released. So so so buggy. Lol. Basically I recall the end section of the game was extremely glitchy and broken.
Cheating Exploiter or Exploiting Cheater?
Creative Use Of Legitimate In-Game Mechanics 😛
how did you go to the furnace tests at 59:18 ?
It's a really funny skip! To start the Test of Purity in furnace, you're meant to double-click on the black-and-gold pillar there. As it happens, someone accidentally decorated the dining room where Isstanar sits with that exact same pillar! They _all_ allow you to jump out of Silver Seed and into the Test of Purity!
Let’s gooooo
This is amazing
Hey dude! I wouldn't have thought it possible either, but suddenly ... all sorts of new things open up!
When that nostalgia kicks in 🦉❤
keep playing
keep up the great videos!
I vaguely recall Something about using a golem to open doors
Yeah, several of the Necromancer-themed areas want you to use an Earth Golem to open doors.
i couldnt figure out what to do in this game
Yeah, since it's been so long and I don't want to just get stuck for hours on stream, I do have to check up on the wiki from time to time. There's clues here and there but the game doesn't really guide you much.
This game was so good!
Pop filters do help at least for me!
Awesome commentary and music 😎 thanks man. God bless. Jesus loves you!
Numbering lines every 10 shows confident developer. For me it was always 50 in the beginning :)
U8 ftw!❤
Leifang enjoyer. Nice. Though I was always partial to Tina and Bayman. Gotta love those big grapple moves and chain counters.
Oh, the throws where Tina just dives in and then spins you are great. DOA did really well with mostly non-magical fighting moves and made it lots of fun. I have a great memory of fighting my friend on that Zhengjiajie-themed mountain level. He was playing Hayabusa, did the mid-air grapple on me, and somehow we both went off the edge, ALL THE WAY DOWN to the next lowest mountain peak. Wasn't even mad.
Gods the Jumping Puzzles and such. Playing it without the patch as I did back in the day... that series of cave jumps you're doing in like 3 seconds each? Yeah they were brutal. I remember basically between saving and reloading and needing near pixel perfect precision basically taking anywhere up to 10 minutes to make some of those jumps...
Yeap! I was blessed that the CD version I had came with the patcher (although the way they set it up to work with the installer was confusing AF)
Worst part for me as you mention how nearly every single chest is trapped, is how many of them are trapped, and also had nothing in them as well. It was a weird loop from what I remember of the game where looting and thievery was almost demanded due to how many times you needed to cash out to advance in the game... but it also wasn't very satisfying because of how many traps there were and how chests almost never had anything of value in them (or sometimes anything at all). It was a weird case where it seemed like you were just supposed to take things off the floor/tables entirely and ignore chests? I don't know. Something about it always rubbed me the wrong way. Pagan was interesting because it wasn't my first Ultima game (that was 4: Quest of the Avatar). But it was the one that killed my interest in the series. Getting it back in the day before I had the internet meant I didn't get any of the patches or anything, or even knew they existed. And all the frustrating things that meant in terms of the jumping puzzles and what not, on top of other (never patched) issues like all those trapped chests with nothing in them, and so on eventually just made me quit Pagan and the series. Never did actually beat it. It's kind of a shame because I can remember some interesting concepts in the series overall and I appreciated how various games with it tried to experiment and push the boundaries of western RPGs at the time. Like 4 not even having a "Final Boss" at all. There was no villain, just a quest for enlightenment and actually trying to make the player think about their actions to prove their worthiness instead of a mass murdering psychopath (which a lot of RPGs still fall prey to, to this day) who just gets called "Hero" because eventually they killed a boss. I liked some of the touches of Pagan even if they could get tiring. Like The Guardian being a bit more proactive than RPG Villains were. Taunting you regularly. Reminding you (theoretically) that the plot was moving along without you and he was actively doing things instead of just waiting at the end of a dungeon/castle for you to come and kill him, etc. Which might sound silly but that was such a strange thing at the time because RPG villains almost never actually DID things beyond sit at a fixed location and wait for the hero to come to them.
Oh, the chests... I think if Tenebrae had been larger, with perhaps more shops to buy things from, less reliance on finding upgrades that way, maybe it would fix the "loot loop"? Dunno. It's interesting to speculate, but I guess the U8 devs did have EA breathing down their necks and heavy time constraints to work with.
Oh wow I forgot about needing reagents!
Back in the day my computer wasn't fast enough to run this game. I think I remember reading about it being buggy, but damn it's been a few decades since I thought about this one.❤
You should look at ground textures to see where it's damaged/cracked and you can fall through.
Good point. The game _does_ give a few subtle hints like that, although they're easy to miss.
Karma at it's finest haha
Loved this game as kid. First Ultima I got anywhere on.
I love these old games
Exile I was my childhood game, I remember browsing every directory and clicking any .exe to find it anytime I wanted to play it as a child, as I still couldn't read.
Nostalgia incoming
Woo, Commander Keen!
I could never play this game right when I was a kid. I still cant. :( Tried Fallout 1 these days and failed miserably. I respect what people like you do!
Ah, back in the day there were less options, you had to persist with some of the things like janky controls or unforgiving soft-locks in order to get the most out of what games you had. But there's *lots* of old games out there, and not all require quite as much commitment! Don't give up, you're bound to find something fun.
🥇
Never played this game before
The Academy has good replayability. I'm glad you stuck with this music config.
I love the cat cam. 😄
I often joke that it should be the cat cam that's front and centre, and my gameplay should be off in the corner 🙂
Just found this. Can't wait to go through the back catalog and get caught up before joining your next stream. Love this game!
Did this DOS game run this smooth in the late 80's, I wonder? The graphics are great to me.
You needed something like a 66MHz processor for "smooth", but you can turn off some of the detail on the floor and ceiling to get it to run on less powerful PCs.
Subbed, glad to see classic pc games :) this game is among my top faves of all time, haven't played it in decades..... I think I may load it up this weekend. Even by todays standards I think it's fantastic. Supposedly someone has a rebuild of the game in Unity (?). I haven't had time to dig into it yet, but I will. I'd like to play this again for sure soon. Update: yes, a guy named Hank Morgan is actively working on a Unity port now. (Feb 2023), search for under "underworld exporter". UW1 full support, UW2 is partial currently. I'll give it a try and see.
Neat, I love that the current-gen engines are now easy enough to get into that they spark such a wide interest in rebuilds of all these classics.
Best game ever 👍
I'm 46 years old, and I never played these games, but I do remember a friends older brother playing 'em on his Amiga. I'm sure the 14 year old version of me would've been blown away if I experienced this game back then.
Oh man this game brings back memories. Was a tough game
LOL the cat has its own webcam. XD
Good memories from the shareware floppy days! p.s. nice Dwarf Fortress wallpaper :)
