I totally agree with the airports plans for the new flightpaths and look forward to the development.

This consultation, using cultural references to the 1970's, is patronising and misleading; to suggest that Edinburgh Airport has "stood still" since the 1970's is dishonest. Though it is stated under paragraph 3.2 that, “this consultation is not related to air traffic growth or the airport’s growth in general” this is implicitly implied by the 'efficiencies' sought in taking “advantage of the improved navigational capabilities of RNAV and improve the efficiency and capacity of the airspace around Edinburgh Airport”. Indeed under paragraph 2.2 of the consultation document it is stated: “We are keen to modernise our airspace as this will allow us to ensure our airport can meet existing and future demand by increasing the capacity of its runway and make improvements to routes to allow flights to depart more frequently...” In spite of the pressures of 'development', Edinburgh still remains a city of human scale, which has a profound benefit, beyond monetary measure, to the well being of residents, in contrast to large sprawling cities. Edinburgh Airport is primarily a driver of supporting the current discredited paradigm of endless economic growth on a finite planet which encourages sprawl and fundamentally puts our children's future at risk given the potentially catastrophic consequences of climate change. Given the narrow, seemingly pre-determined objectives, this consultation would appear to be yet another 'done deal', with fundamental assumptions already implied without any meaningful public consultation. When money talks democracy is abused... we live under an economic dictatorship.

No information on what is proposed - recent modenisation has been about more shops, not improving the customer experience. Obvoiusly using the mushroom marketing theory of growing an idea in the dark, as the light would destroy it!!
