Why couldn't you post the battery part number to help us save all kinds of time. You had the battery in your hand. I tried to screen shot the part number and it's blurry. The only thing this video did for me was show me how to get the two side grips off of the unit and that's all learned from it, other than your dislike for the lack of support from Autel. didnt really show anything except re solder everything and guess on the needles.

I'm gonna ask if you ever ran into the fuel gauge being intermittent after reflowing the board to fix the gauges/ window/ radio problem

I've replaced the LCD before and it fixed it. Now for the last year or so it just turns off and on. If I hit the dashboard I can get it to come on and it's mostly off these days. So I wonder if it's just loose now in there cuz it's not the pixelated problem it's just either off or on. Any answers to that? Thank you!

Hi there.. thanks for vid. Looking at pulling my Module out. For 2 reasons. Infotainment system has not worked for about 3 year. Well it did come back on twice during that time after getting other mechanical things serviced and I suspect it's because the battery had been disconnected long periods.. But it's never remained working long... 2 weeks at most... Out of fear of taking it in to get serviced and chasing the problem costing me $$$ I've just ignored it. Do you know if this Module would power up the infotainment system normally? Gets no power nothing. Secondly the car has now got cold start issues... Once running it's fine . That could be something else... Nice vid. Saved for the future!

The correct name should be Hellward. So did you have issues regarding the size/dimenstions from the Hellward to that one you have installed?

If you get a use cluster from the junkyard and put it in the vehicle will not start who can reprogram the dealership or a car locksmith??

Will Led lights works in place of lights in cluster.? Do you replace bulbs or the case that holds the bulb?

My 97 cluster works great but I can’t see the gears when I change them. Is that the same fix?

Most likely just a dry joint on that BGA device if there is some shock or excessive thermal cycling those tiny solder balls give in. And it's not proprietary, you can still buy it at ali, before you could buy it from digikey but it just went obsolete which is expected for cluster from a 2011 vehicle. Surprised an electronics repair shop can't reflow BGA...

You could try to reflow the prossesor. This is leadfree soldier. so it flow at 350-400 celcius. Use flux, lots of flux and heat the cpu till it moves around. Then cool and retest. You could try that. chances are that it will be fixed if the fault is not internal. Their are lots of video's about reflowing CPU and other chips. Also at louis Rossman's channel. Your killing me. I learned how to do this repair 11 years ago from a youtube that was super low quality but the guy killed it on the info. Had zero soldering skills but have had much practice over the last 10 years with guitar repair and 3000 lbs printers. I gotta ask you to start out with, "WHY IN THE HELL DID YOU TAKE ALL THOSE T8S OUT?" For the love of Zues, that was a waste of time. Just use a razor knife and cut the silicone holding the two halves together. To my knowledge, there are 6 main points that cause the failure. I fixed them, and they lasted 4 years. Got the light again and was too lazy to take it out again which is the actual hard part on my GMC yukon, although I have better tools now so not as difficult as the first time. Its fiddly since you have to unscrew the T20s that are facing up with only about 8 inches clearance from the floorboard. PPeople, do not take all those screws out, just the 4 to remove it from your car. you're welcome. Oh, and as long as you don't jam the knife too deep, no worries.

I charge them every time, regardless if it fixed their issues because what they are paying for is my time. I do the work, they figure out their problem.

Reminds me of when I worked as an electronic test technician back in the 80's. Most bad solder connections where caused by cold soldering in the flow soldering process. They used flux that was cleaned by water baths. It did not allow the heat penetration needed to allow the PCB board through hole to "suck up" the solder to create a true bond. To make matters worse vibration over time makes a tiny component weight fracture the solder joints. Solder is a mixture of tin and lead both a very weak bond.

Thanks man my 95 dodge b2500 speedometer and odometer went out suddenly. Change the vss still nothing . Watched this and I just re flowed my board and boom it was back. Reminded me of doing my old gmc Jimmy abs control module. Vibrations a bitch. Thanks for doing a wicked video.

You sir, are an Effin genius!!! I followed your info exactly, and fixed my brake modual!!!! I’ve had to live with the lights on for several years, after I paid a shop to fix it, and it only lasted 6-8 months! I figured it wasn’t worth paying again- then I saw your tutorial video and said “what the hell! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!” And tried it!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! On a side note- I used a magnifying glass, AND my readers to super zoom in, and still couldn’t see any crack- but decided since I was already there- go for it! Glad I did!!! SUBSCRIBED!!
