Madrid in Early Years,
On 6th May, 1902, the Madrid football club was founded by a group of football-loving young men who wanted to form a team. Since that time, the white shirt of real Madrid worn by some of the footballs most magical names, representing one of the biggest and most successful football clubs has been around, and it is still going to be strong today.

Madrid began to make a name for itself in Spain almost right away. Three years after its foundation, In 1905, Madrid FC won its first title after defeating Athletic Bilbao in the Copa Del Rey final. Which was the first of four consecutive Copa Del Rey titles, at that time Copa Del Rey was the only nationwide competition played in Spain until the formation of La Liga in 1929.
In 1907, Madrid lost a game to a team of Catholic priests from Royal English College in Valladolid, with Father Edward Power scoring five goals in a 6-2 victory. Future club president Santiago Bernabéu was quoted as saying in 1957 that the "game changed the whole history of football in Spain by showing us how football should be played"
The club became one of the founding sides of the Royal Spanish Football Federation on 4 January 1909, when club president Adolfo Meléndez signed the foundation agreement of the Spanish FA.
In 1912, after moving between some minor grounds, Madrid moved to the Campo de O'Donnell.
In 1917, Madrid Won Copa Del Rey for Fifth time, in a match that ended a goal less draw after 20 minutes of extra time. The replay match was played two days later, in the same stadium with the same referee. The match ended 1-1, and the teams decided to play twenty minutes of extra time. Neither team scored a goal in that time, so they decided to play another twenty minutes of extra time. Three minutes in the second extra time, Ricardo Álvarez scored for Madrid FC. This was the fifth title for Madrid FC.
In 1920, the club's name was changed to Real Madrid after King Alfonso the XIII, a reputed football fan, granted the title of real meaning "royal" in English to the club.
In 1929, the first Spanish football league was founded. Real Madrid led the first league season until the last match, a loss to Athletic Bilbao, meant they finished runners-up to Barcelona. Real Madrid won its first League title in the 1931-32 season. Winning the League again in the following year, becoming the first team to have won the championship twice.
These were just the first of 34 La Liga championships through 2021 for Real Madrid, including an impressive five consecutive La Liga titles from 1986 to 1990.
