      Hi, I saw few comments from you and I hope I can answer the questions you raised. I am from Estonia but currently living and studying in UK. I originally started 2 channels in English and Russian but unfortunately I struggled with time to produce good quality content on a weekly basis. It was a difficult decision but I decided to focus more on my English channel. One day I hope I can share my learning and working experience with Russian-speaking viewers. Lastly I wholeheartedly believe that there are many ways in which we can make this world a better world. Personally it brings me joy to help people through counselling in my voluntary / charity work.

    If you aren't supposed to give clients advice, what are you supposed to say to them?

    • @counsellorsjourney
      @counsellorsjourney Місяць тому

      Hi, that is a great question and something that I still find challenging at times. What I experienced so far as a trainee counsellor is that the need to advise and 'save' the client comes from our own internal need to be helpful. The client might not even ask for any advice. If, however, they do, we should direct the question back to them e.g. what they think about the topic or what advice they would give to a good friend. It is about starting the conversation and letting them lead it. I once heard that the ultimate goal of counselling and therapy is that it is no longer needed. The only way we can achieve this is by helping our client learn how to find their own answers and available solutions to their everyday problems. I hope that this helps =).

    I am fascinated by your videos, so much so I have subscribed to you. I have just finished my level 2 CPCAB counselling skills and have just been accepted on the CPCAB level 3 counselling studies in September. This course is very similar to the level 2 and is over 26 weeks, the level 2 was 28 weeks. Would you mind telling me how you found the intensive level 3 course over 13 weeks compared to the level 2 over 28 weeks. I have only just found out that I too could do the level 3 over 13 weeks but not sure how intense it will be. Thank you for everything you do.

    We had this practice very first week on a second day, but we were not allowed to ask questions, we just had to listen, we could use statements and paraphrasing and we had to practice silence.

    • @counsellorsjourney
      @counsellorsjourney Рік тому

      Hi Anna, if you just started your course then definitely the focus is on listening and practising silence. In a way we need to learn a different type of communication to the one we are used to in our daily life. I imagine that gradually you will be introduced to open/closed questions. The danger of using them too soon is that you could accidently 'open your client's pandora box' but not have the skills yet to support them in resolving some complex problems. Good luck in your studies! 👍
