    Interesting to watch this as an Aussie. I grew up in a fibro home and I now own a 1940s fibro house. A third of Aussie houses have asbestos. I've had the outside fibro clad over and the roof replaced. Painting inside walls is more challenging as it cannot be sanded back. You have to think outside the box when around fibro. By using a mold blocking priming undercoat it gives a beautiful result. Thankfully no asbestos in my floors, just beautiful original floorboards under the carpet. Your end result is fantastic. Well done. Hopefully DIYers will see this and be safer. Cheers🇦🇺

    Wow you cleaned out asbestos by yourselves? In my country that’s illegal and you have to employ certified and accredited asbestos removal companies. I certainly hope nothing bad happens to your health. That would be a tragedy. By the time you know you’re sick with asbestosis it’s already too late.

    I think a tiny craft paint brush would work with less effort and you could skip the pen and the syringe.

      Yes it would work. I like the idea of just having this paint pen on hand for doing touch ups quicker and easier! You could also use it for writing / painting more intricate things too.

    Its so interesting to see how the other side lives. No shade but I wouldn't be brave enough to do asbestos removal myself. We're slowly removing anything plastic and vinyl from our house because I don't want to risk it with the off gassing and microplastics and im trying to figure out how to turn my dining room into a makeshift greenhouse for actual trees because we've already filled up the outside of our house with too many trees and garden beds. Your end result came quick and looks pretty but eeeeek i can smell the lung cancer from here

      It’s not like they’re rolling around in it. They used the proper PPE and disposal methods. We removed the asbestos popcorn ceiling from our house ourselves. It’s not as scary as people make it seem. Most of the people that developed cancer from asbestos were those who were exposed to it long term like construction workers, insulation installations, floorers, etc.

    • @jenniesmythe8188
      @jenniesmythe8188 14 днів тому

      In the US at least you can remove it yourself at your own risk. It just has to be picked up by proper disposal companies I believe or placed in proper bags that way ppl know what it being dumbed.

    • @jenniesmythe8188
      @jenniesmythe8188 14 днів тому

      For one room for a house by professionals I was quoted 10k for a set amount of square feet. So it’s definetly not doable for most. The risk for ppl originally when the asbestos scare came about was form workers dealing with the materials daily and not wearing protective gear. That’s what caused issues. Wearing proper gear and doing it yourself once or twice with proper ventilation won’t cause any issues.

      @@jenniesmythe8188I've had it done professionally and the tiny bit of protection they did...may as well have been nothing. When I say the room was sealed, it was SEALED, with sealed tunnels leading outside and outdoor showers/changing areas for the workers + absolutely no one living at home (including all our cats, dogs, and reptiles) for over a week until the health inspector gave the all clear that it was no longer airborne with no trace left in the room. Oh and the whole, it takes long time exposure...nope, all it takes is once and you can permanently damage your lungs.
