From somebody who's been on both ends, "random x thing" just discredits your work and places you so stereotypically in the space every artist gets put in. I find it way more fun to just say I'm great and not accept the criticism that's not given with any intent to help, and be ready to laugh at myself when I'm objectively proven wrong because I know it doesn't really matter. You can probably afford it
