How I talk to kids about my disability
Переглядів 634 роки тому
Hey y’all, How I talk to kids depends on each kid, but it’s a conversation I don’t mind having. We should all be open about this discussion with our kids so we bridge the gap between the disabled and able bodied peers earlier and earlier.

Hey y’all, Remember, any event or series of events can be traumatic. Your feelings are valid. My heart goes out to NICU parents who spent more time there than we did, & for moms who have experienced trauma such as cesareans. Women who breastfeed are also rock stars. Thank you for watching. - Emily

Assumptions about people with disabilities!
Переглядів 334 роки тому
Hey y’all! In this video I talk about making assumptions of people with disabilities based off of what you see in the classroom. It is never a good thing. My hope is that we will see each other for what we love & what we do, and not how we need help with.
Disability advocacy & labels
Переглядів 514 роки тому
Hey y’all! In this video I talk about how labels don’t have to be scary; they can be comforting to know how you can be described or understood. Labels do not define you. Keep in mind this is my perspective. It is okay to think differently, but I hope you accept and love all parts of yourself.
