I used to have one good bike sold it to buy 750 honda k1 good sold that to buy kawi z1a good bike sold that to buy the best i ever had suzuki gt750 water cooled
is your method also applied with the gt 380 if so shoot me a email at josh.a.lenhart@gmail.com I'm interested and willing to share my project with you.
1975, that would make it an M or an A model (please correct me if I'm wrong) I had one myself once upon a time, they had chromed bores (Suzuki called it SCEM & used it on the RE5 too - & it has returned as a cylinder coating on the latest cylinder liner-less GSXRs). That was what always put me off having mine ported/tuned - I was told it would soon cause the chrome to flake & peel away from the bore. I suppose it's more common (& probably a better process/job now). Don't suppose you have had her dyno'd?
No bore coatings on the street two strokes, at least not in '75. I also have built multiple GT750s and none had that coating. I believe that the coating you are referring to was how Zuk used Nichrome wire, then basically exploded it inside the cylinder to coat the bore.
It's an oddity I grant you Roger J, none of the rest of the range used the SCEM coating but for whatever reason the Suzook changed to this coating after the original J & K models (they had a different look to the finning & RAM air shroud), I had a great affection for my GT550's (I had 2 of them, both A models). Keep the vids coming :)
Thanks guys...it was a lot of fun and the best part is I have ANOTHER 75 and this one may receive even more performance work to it when I finally get to it.
Beautiful bike and very nice job. I just restored myself an other classic bike of that period, a 1972 Kawasaki 750 H2. To see the restoration of this bike make a youtube search for: Kawasaki 750 h2 gearbox
I bought a 550 new and had chromed 3-1 Bromlech pipes fitted to it. Very comfy bike, and handled OK, but at 70 mph it used to get around 30mpg. Ended up selling it to a friend and I was shocked to discover you could hear it about 2 miles away when he rode it at night. Had never really noticed the noise as the rider.

You're right, turns out the US didn't get the chromed bores we got in the UK & Europe.
